Delray’s Father, Lawrence Kumm, 96+ years old, cut the ribbon for the new addion at Shamrock Nursery on April 14th. The new greenhouse is 48 feet wide by 120 feet long. The manufacturer is GGS, a Canadian company from Vineland, Ontario. They started planning during the fall of 2015, construcon started in July of 2016. The greenhouse was designed for Shamrock Nursery’s specific needs. The majority of the construcon was done with their employees along with the help of a greenhouse construcon foreman which came 3 different mes for 4 days at a me. They used local concrete contractors and electricians. This project was more complex than anything they have done and thus took much longer and many more man hours than Delray ever dreamed of. There are 456 pieces of glass, 130 of which they curved or bent as they were installed. Each curved piece took an average of 15 + minutes with 4 to 5 men installing each piece. If there is much of a wind its too dangerous to install. The tempered greenhouse glass is very strong as long as you don’t bang the edges, if you do it explodes into thousands of pieces. They broke 9 pieces total, which was excellent for beginners. The curved glass is a stronger house as GGS builds greenhouses where lake effect snows hit. It also reduces condensaon drips and in Delray’s opinion is more aracve. The greenhouse has all natural venlaon with roof vents and side vents. It also has the first vercal glass vent that GGS ever designed. It was an extreme challenge for the Shamrock Nursery guys. All environmental controls are run by a Link 4000 computerized system. The plants are loving the bright light glass offers and it shows in the quality of the plants. They do have more plans to beaufy the interior and the area around the greenhouse, but that will have to wait as they ran out of me and money. Delray says, “We invite everyone to visit, we think you will enjoy it. Thanks, from the enre Shamrock Nursery staff.” Be sure to check out Shamrock Nursery at www.shamrocknursery.com or on Facebook.

Truckin’ Through Nebraska, a travelling children’s museum will be in O’Neill on May

7th, from 11am to 6pm for families to enjoy. Be sure to set aside time on that day for

a family visit to the museum! This exhibit will be fun for all ages! First Lady

Susanne Shore said, “We created the Mobile Children’s Museum to provide a fun,

hands-on learning experience for children who may not normally be able to easily

access a children’s museum. Through play, interactivity and the latest technology,

Nebraska’s children will explore their heritage and envision their futures. We hope

the experience will help power the imagination and create an excitement about

learning”. This will bring families from all around our area to our community for

the day!
