DRIVER --- In consideration of my being permitted to participate in the Iowa Truck Driving Championships and be eligible for awards offered to participants, I hereby stipulate and agree to the following:

I acknowledge that I am not in the employ of ATA or a State Trucking Association.

Both as to myself and my heirs and personal representatives, I release the Iowa Motor Truck Association, its directors, employees, agents and/or any of its affiliates from any and all liability and any right of action that may arise from any damage or injury which I may receive while attending or participating in said Iowa Truck Driving Championships.

I grant the Iowa Motor Truck Association exclusive right to make use of information about myself, along with photographs subsequently taken under IMTA’s direction, in publicity and advertising activities. DRIVER --- I certify that during the 12-months prior to the 2020 Iowa Truck Driving Championships:

Children under 18 are welcome if accompanied by an adult; however, no one under the age of 21 is allowed access to the casino.

CELL PHONE POLICYAny participant caught using a cell phone during any of the four testing portions of the event will be automatically penalized with scoring deductions towards their team score. This includes the written exam, personal interview, pre-trip inspection and driving skills test. It is advised to leave cell phones in the hotel rooms or personal vehicles during the event. The Iowa Motor Truck Association is not responsible for lost cellphones and will not place individuals in charge of making sure participants cell phones are kept secure.

COMPETITION COURSESAll of the driving will be done on day two, on two identical courses. The committee chairman appoints committee members to draw up courses for review. The committee chairman then makes the final decision as to the final course layout two days prior to the event. Course layouts will not be provided prior to the event.

COMPETITION EQUIPMENTAll equipment used in the competition is provided. Every effort is made to provide new equipment and to provide everyone a fair opportunity during their driving skills competition and pre-trip inspection.

COMPETITION MINIMUM PARTICIPANT RULEIn order to host the Iowa Truck Driving Championships, a minimum of 25-competitors will need to be registered for the event.

CONDUCTProfessional conduct is required at all times and if any competing driver displays inappropriate conduct, he or she will be asked to leave the competition and future participation will be considered by the rules committee.

DRESS CODEThe only dress code that is required is that the drivers dress properly and professionally. Company uniforms are not required but are highly encouraged. Drivers are judged on a number of items and dress is one of those items. Remember, this event is highly visible and very representative of the industry. Our objective is to promote the professionalism that exists in the industry. Drivers are true professionals and we encourage them to make an effort to dress that way.

DRIVER ENTRY PACKETThe $200 driver entry fee includes: entry for the driver to all three TDC meals, ATA “Facts for Drivers” study book (if you prefer an audio download or CD you will have to order yourself through ATA Business Solutions), ATA commemorative arm patch and much more! Upon receiving the application and entry fee, the Iowa Motor Truck Association will send the individual signing off on the employer entry and release page the “Facts for Drivers” study book and the commemorative arm patch. This individual is then responsible for getting these two items to the registered driver. Questions for the written exam come from the “Facts for Drivers” study book and from a question bank provided by the American Trucking Associations.

RECRUITINGRecruiting of drivers is strictly prohibited. Any company representative that engages in recruiting will be asked to leave and if their company has a driver, or team, competing, they will be automatically disqualified.

The individuals signing off on the employer entry and release page will receive the results of their specific drivers approximately 10-days following the event. Score are not given out at the event. All of the scoring is professionally done through a computerized program overseen by an outside representative who inputs and reviews the information.

WEATHERThe State Truck Driving Championships are held rain or shine. The weather is a factor that a professional truck driver has to deal with on a daily basis. The driving portion of the event may have to be delayed or postponed if the safety of the volunteers, spectators or drivers are jeopardized due to weather. The committee retains the right to change the schedule if weather problems arise during the competition.

HOTEL INFORMATION

Drivers, company representatives and all event guests are responsible for making their own hotel accommodations and paying for these accommodations. The driver entry fee does not include hotel accommodations! Also, please do not reserve more rooms than necessary out of fairness to other groups waiting to secure rooms at Prairie Meadows. Cancellations on rooms secured under the room block affect the size of the hotel block for the following year’s event.

Due to the demand for hotel rooms at Prairie Meadows, the hotel has a strict 72-hour cancellation policy in place. Any rooms canceled after 72-hours prior to check-in date will be subject to a cancellation fee equal to one-night room rate and tax.

Once the reserved block of rooms at Prairie Meadows is completely sold out, drivers, company representatives and event guests are responsible for researching and making their own hotel accommodations. The Iowa Motor Truck Association staff is not able to assist with getting your group into Prairie Meadows, or any other local hotels.
