How do you get more information?
Five steps to positive parenting
Create a safe, fun place for your child to enjoy
There are many ways to raise children. So how do you know what is
best and what works? The Triple P– Positive Parenting Program has
more than 30 years of research to back it up. These are Triple P’s five
steps to a happier family life.
Children who have nothing to do are likely to get into trouble. Be sure
you have games or other activities your child enjoys to keep your
child busy. Remove things that may cause danger in the home, and
teach basic safety.
If your child comes to you for help or to talk, they are ready to learn.
Give them positive attention, even if only for a minute or two. Support
your child’s ideas and opinions.
Set clear rules and boundaries and follow through with fair
consequences. Tell your children you are proud of them when they
have good behavior.
Nobody is perfect– so don’t expect your child to do more than they
are able to do. And remember, all parents make mistakes sometimes.
It’s all about balance. You have to look after your own needs too, so
make sure you are getting some support, time with friends, and maybe
even a little time to yourself!
Stay positive
Correct child’s behavior with confidence
Be realistic about what your child can do
Take care of yourself as a parent
