The year of our Lord 2019 will be an exceptional year for our church family. While we

are planning for it to be the normal life at Trinity: terrific music, great programs for all

ages, interesting adult educational offerings, many types of small group ministries, and

wonderful worship, 2019 will also be the Year of Two Pilgrimages.

The question has come to me: why are you leading two pilgrimages next year. I’d like to

take the opportunity to answer that question.

In an attempt to make a pilgrimage rather than take a tour of the Holy Land, I am keeping

the group size small enough to visit the holy sites easily and also to enable the pilgrims to

enjoy personal discussion with our guides and speakers. That means that not everyone

who wanted to make the pilgrimage was able to participate in the summer trip. Offering a

second pilgrimage in October means those who want to go in 2019 are able to do so and to

do so at a cooler season of the year, rather than waiting till the summer of 2020.

Being able to work with the good people I met at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute during

my sabbatical has allowed me to hand-select our tour guides and speakers, as well as to

plan the schedule in a way that I believe will be spiritually enriching, while also being

educational and enjoyable. Leading both groups ensures that—as much as is possible—the

same experience will be had by both groups. I am excited to be able to lead two groups of

our members and to introduce them to the people and places that have impacted my life

and faith.

I am grateful that this coming year will allow me to guide forty pilgrims from Trinity as

part of my pastoral work within our congregation, much as our associate pastors and

youth directors have been able to guide our senior high mission trips and Camp

Johnsonburg weekends over the years.

If you are interested in traveling with us in the fall, let me know. Registrations will begin

this month. Even if you are unable to join us for a pilgrimage, you can join me in praying

for all your fellow Trinitarians who will be going. I believe that the forty-or-so who return

from the Holy Land will be a blessing to our larger congregation as they share with us

their newly-gained knowledge and, I pray, their freshly-inspired faith. If that does in fact

happen, then we all have good reason to keep...

Session Update At its stated meeting on April 2, 2018, the Session:

Discussed the tenth Prayer Vigil and considered some of the reflections that

participants had written in the journals.

Reviewed the timeline for research and reporting about the strategic

initiatives developed at the February officers’ retreat.

Discussed holy week services content and attendance.

Approved funding half the dinner for the Commissioning Class, families, and

friends, using the Session Fund.

Reviewed two options for insurance coverage and voted to go with the

Insurance Board proposal.

Approved three baptisms.

Approved the March 5, 2018, membership count of 699.

Prayed for members and friends.

Care n’ Share + Senior Highs Fundraiser

Saturday May 12th. Come visit Trinity's own Care n’ Share shop as they and the

Senior Highs open up on a special Saturday. Our youth will be working at the

shop and all proceeds will go to the Senior High Mission Trip.

Hours 10:00 - 1:00. It will be a good time for a good cause!

Children's Ministries

Church School YES there are still openings for you to give our faithful Sunday School teachers a break.

Sign up for just one Sunday during the summer months and help in our Nursery. You

will not be alone, as there are always two people assigned to a Sunday. We think you

will find it very rewarding and fun! Thank You!

Nursery School

We are gearing up for our 2018-19 school year at Trinity Nursery School. We will offer

classes in the morning for toddlers, 2 1/2, 3, and 4 year olds. Many of our morning classes are at capacity or

filling quickly. Our 5 day a week Bridg-a-garden program is designed for older fours and to give young

fives the gift of time to develop socially, physically, emotionally and intellectually before entering

kindergarten.

We had a successful Earth Day in April where we began our caterpillar/Butterfly

hatching project. Each classroom has a total of 5 caterpillars and will release the

painted lady caterpillars that hatch later this month into our Earth Day Garden

outside our front Door. We are tending our flowers to make it a welcome place for

our butterflies to live and grow!

Spring is budding downstairs in the Nursery School and we are planting sunflower

seeds to add to our garden. We will be planting all the pretty flowers and look

forward to watching them grow through the spring and into the summer.

We will be painting many beautiful flowers to display this month for our Mother’s Day Tea. Our moms, or a

special lady, will visit and enjoy tea, treats, a special story and songs sung by the children. Happy Mother’s

Day to all the special women in our lives!

Membership Information Session New to Trinity? Are you a visitor who is interested in what’s

happening at Trinity or what it means to be a Presbyterian? Join an

informal conversation with Rev. Greg Faulkner and other Trinity

members at our next Membership Information Session on Sunday,

May 6, 2018 at 10:45 am. Greg will talk about the Presbyterian faith and what it means to be a part of

it. You’ll also hear about all of the opportunities that Trinity has to offer.

the church office at 856-428-2050. We will be serving lunch, so it’s important to know who will be

attending. Babysitting will be provided if requested in advance. This is a great time for visitors to get

together with members and get to know Trinity. Find your place at our place!

Youth Ministries

Mixers & Mission Our year of Mixers and Mission has come to an end. It's been a time of mission, food, fellowship, and tons

of fun! We finished off the year with a rousing Scavenger Hunt. We had a pizza lunch, then we sent the

teams into Barclay Farms neighborhood to complete 12 different tasks. For instance, videoing their team

saying the pledge of allegiance in front of a house with a flag, singing London Bridges at the covered bridge

and finding a home library and recording the first and last line of a book. Each task was given a point value

and the team with the most points won. When the teams returned, we had dessert and watched their

recorded tasks on Trinity’s large TV in the Community Room.

While some might have needed an extra hand or gave a valiant effort and others went to heroic lengths and

were warriors, memories and laughter was the prize we all took home. Thanks to all who participated and

supported our endeavors, and we look forward to more memories this fall!

Envelopes (green) 3 times a year to financially support Trinity’s

missions through Deacons deeds.

Assembly of communion table for monthly & holiday sacrament is

completed by Deacons.

Committees of Visitation, Assistance and Outreach, Fellowship and

Service meet monthly.

Offer a ministry of caring service to Trinity and our local communities.

Noteworthy that Deacons pledge a 3 year commitment of volunteer

service & monthly meetings.

Sharing distributions for Summer & Christmas are purchased,

organized & delivered by Deacons.

Flower delivery is completed weekly and for Easter & Christmas by

Deacons.

Ushers are provided weekly & for additional services by Deacons.

Nourishment through weekly Coffee Hour setup is provided by

Deacons.

Drives for Blood, Coats, Food, School Supplies, and Christmas

Sharing gifts are organized & delivered by Deacons.

Wanted: Crafters for 2018 Trinity Holiday Bazaar!

Our 13th Annual Holiday Bazaar and Craft Show

will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2018

from 9 am to 3pm. We are always looking for new

artisans and crafters, so if you would like to sign

up for a booth, or if you know anyone who would

be interested in our event, please contact Julie Blair

at: trinitybazaar@gmail.com. The fee is $55 per

booth but if you sign up by August 31st the fee will be $45 per booth. More

Care n’ Share Care 'n Share is loaded with quality spring/summer clothing for the whole family....lots of great kids' clothes for summer! It is hard to believe that our 1/2 price sale starts in one month. You can still bring in your summer donations...we are hoping by now that the warm weather is actually here and we will be needing your generous donations!

We also have great house wares, books, toys, games etc. for summer fun.

Donations may be dropped off during our regular business hours; Tuesdays, Thursdays & "first Saturday" of Month (May 5) from 10 am to 1pm. You may also drop items off on Sunday mornings following the 9:30 worship service.

Speaking of Summer, it might be a good time to contemplate on activities for the fall..like volunteering in the Care 'n Share Shop for 3 hours a week!! Our dedicated volunteers mark and display the thousands of items that we receive for sale. FYI, we just voted to donate $11,000 to local missions and hope to do a similar amount next Fall! Library Corner This month the Trinity Library is featuring three books that are new additions to our library. All of them are by well-known authors.

For children, books about mothers and about Noah’s ark are on display.

Hallelujah ANYWAY Rediscovering Mercy By Anne Lamott “There are many routes to living a merciful life in this mean and downtrodden world.” The purpose of bestselling author Anne Lamott’s newest book is to define mercy and offer insights as to how and where to find it in today’s hectic and scary world. How do we define mercy? Does it consist of justice,

humility, compassion, forgiveness (or all of these plus many other positive traits)? Does mercy pertain only to the way we treat others or does it also relate to our treatment of ourselves?

With her characteristic frankness about her own life and shortcomings, and her witty analysis and humor, Lamott deals with these issues. Her book includes unconventional perspectives on the mercy found in familiar Bible stories like Ruth, Joseph, Job and Jonah. Other books by Anne Lamott are located in the biography section under L.

To Be Where You are By Jan Karon This is the latest book in Jan Karon’s acclaimed Mitford series. As in the previous books, the small town of Mitford is inhabited by a cast of charming, lovable characters who deal with ordinary things in unusual ways: a priest who is coping with a caffeine-free diet and an ornery blender, a police captain who runs a red light, a six-year-old who’s writing a book and a ninety year-old running for mayor. Episcopal priest Tim Kavanagh is the central focus of the book. He is trying to come to grips with retirement. Another younger Kavanagh family is dealing with financial issues. The plots concern problems people typically face, but Karon’s rendition of them is charming, compelling and often comic. It is a refreshing change from books based on horror, intrigue or sensational circumstances. As the book jacket sums it up, “Wounds heal, bonds grow stronger, celebrations continue. . .welcome back to life in beloved Mitford.” The library’s extensive collection of books by Jan Karon is located in the fiction section under K.

The Autobiography of Billy Graham By Billy Graham Originally published in 2007, this book has been revised and reprinted to commemorate the life and death of Billy Graham. It covers his entire lifetime from birth onward and contains original photographs. This book is located on the shelf above the card table.

Calling All Couch Potatoes! Does this heading talk to you? We’ll we have a good

answer for you and how to get yourself in shape for the

Our May meeting of the Daytime Men’s Group will get you all PUMPED to have that

personal SUPER COLOSSAL feeling. We have asked Doug Nork, a professional Trainer and

workout specialist to share his talents with us. He was a speaker at one of our meetings a few

years ago, and was well received.
