CHIMES The chimes call us to silent readiness. PRELUDE Sweet By and By Joseph P. Webster arr. John Turner
PASTOR’S GREETING, INTRODUCTIONS, AND LIFE OF THE CHURCH CALL TO WORSHIP
L: We come, so God can teach us goodness and love for each person P: We will complete God's love by having the same compassion as God. L: We come, so Jesus can lead us into lives of service and obedience. P: We will complete Jesus' hopes by putting others before ourselves. L: We come, so the Spirit can help us to empty ourselves for God and those around us. P: We will complete the Spirit's peace by sharing our lives with others.
L: Let us worship God! HYMN #822 When We Are Living Spanish Melody
(See music in bulletin) arr. Barbara C. Mink
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
We could do what you hope, God of our salvation, but we get so distracted in our fears, we don't. We continue to fill ourselves with pride's empty calories, and wonder why we are still hungry. We feed our own needs for security and importance first, and so never notice those behind us or under us who struggle in life. We proudly say we are willing to forgive, while never honestly taking notice that our own suspicions and jealousies cause us to hurt others.
Forgive us, Mercy of our lives. May we complete your love by caring deeply for those who make life so difficult for us. May we complete your hope by reaching out to those in need.
May we complete your grace, by emptying ourselves for all around us, just as Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, did for us.
(Silence is kept for personal confession) Amen.
DECLARATION OF PARDON L: Plant this good news deep in your thoughts: God loves you; God forgives you; God strengthens you for service. P: May God's compassion make us more passionate to serve; may God's forgiveness make us more merciful; may God's love make us more loving to everyone. Thanks be to God. L: Let us worship God! SCRIPTURE READING (NRSV): Matthew 21:23-32
23 When he entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him as he was teaching, and said, “By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?” 24 Jesus said to them, “I will also ask you one question; if you tell me the answer, then I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 Did the baptism of John come from heaven, or was it of human origin?” And they argued with one another, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say to us, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ 26 But if we say, ‘Of human origin,’ we are afraid of the crowd; for all regard John as a prophet.” 27 So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And he said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 28 “What do you think? A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 He answered, ‘I will not’; but later he changed his mind and went. 30 The father[a] went to the second and said the same; and he answered, ‘I go, sir’; but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are going into the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32 For John came to
you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him; and even after you saw it, you did not change your minds and believe him.
SERMON Where God Calls, God Provides Reverend Dr. Sue Marie Baskette CONFESSION OF FAITH Rom. 8:1, 28, 38, 39
We believe there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus; for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to God’s purpose. We are convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
HYMN Holy God We Praise Thy Name Walworth, Bone, Franz (See music in bulletin)
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AND INTERCESSION, CONCLUDING WITH THE LORD’S PRAYER
The Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power
And the glory, forever. Amen.

This hymn began as an orally transmitted stanza reflecting on Romans 14:7–8 and was expanded by aSpanish-language hymnal committee to offer additional examples of the many dimensions of life, therebystrengthening the recurring affirmation that we belong to God through them all.

I Lift Up My Soul by Tim Manion To you, Lord, I lift up my soul, oh my God To you, Lord, I lift up my soul, oh my God O Lord, show your ways to me. Teach me Your paths and Keep me in the ways of Your truth, For You are the God that saves me. [Chorus] The Lord is so good, so holy. Sinners find the way, And in all that is right He guides the humble. The poor he leads in His pathways. [Chorus] All day long I hope in Your goodness. Remember Your love, The love that You promised long ago. And the kindness that you gave from of old. [Chorus]

Q&A Regarding Wills and Trusts
Q: Do I need a will or trust if my final estate is minimal in size?
A: There a number of nonfinancial reasons to have a will including who will care for minor dependents. The will package may also include several ancillary documents concerning individual instructions dealing with incapacity and end of life choices.
Q: What happens if I die without a valid will or trust in Arizona?
A: The courts will decide who cares for your minor dependents and distribute your residual estate assets to relatives according to state intestacy rules.
PER CAPITA
As Presbyterians, we agree to participate in the life of the wider church by serving Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly. One of the ways we do this is through our Per
Capita apportionment which is how we mutually share the cost of coming together to discern the Spirit's leading for the future. Each member is responsible for their share of this cost. The Presbytery of Grand Canyon approved the 2020 Per Capita apportionment at $37.35 per member. Per Capita gifts should be made payable to Trinity and will be forwarded on to the Presbytery.
For additional information on the stewardship, please contact Larry at (928) 776-9951, [email protected], Barbara at [email protected], or Dwayne at (928) 445-1673, [email protected]. All information and materials provided are of a general and informative nature and do not constitute specific legal, tax, investment, or financial planning advice.
