Pastor Jack Gillam Retirement Celebration We would like to congratulate Pastor Jack Gillam on his retirement from Trinity Lutheran Church and School. Pastor Gillam was born in Scottsbluff, NE. He attended St. John’s College, Winfield, KS and graduated from Concordia College in Seward, NE with a BS in Elementary Education. He attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He married Linda Mueller in 1975, which blessed him with three Sons, Jeremy, Jeff, and Jason. Along with serving as Senior Pastor at Trinity Lutheran, Pastor Gillam has served at St. John’s Lutheran Church and School in Stuttgart, AR, Trinity Lutheran Church in Amherst, NE, Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner, NE, Zion Lutheran Church and School in St. Charles, MO, First Lutheran Church in Birmingham, AL, Concordia Lutheran College of Texas, in Austin, TX, St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Houston, TX, and at Idaho Youth Ranch in Rupert, ID. Pastor Jack Gillam Retirement Celebration We would like to congratulate Pastor Jack Gillam on his retirement from Trinity Lutheran Church and School.

Pastor Gillam was born in Scottsbluff, NE. He attended St. John’s College, Winfield, KS and graduated from Concordia College in Seward, NE with a BS in Elementary Education. He attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO.

He married Linda Mueller in 1975, which blessed him with three Sons, Jeremy, Jeff, and Jason.

PRE-CALL MEETING - There will be a Congregational Pre-Call meeting on October 23 at 7:00pm in the church fellowship hall. Nebraska District President Snow along with the Circuit Counselor Shawn Kitzing will be leading the meeting in the first step to call a Senior Pastor. All congregation members are encouraged to attend as Trinity takes an important step forward.

OCTOBER VOTERS’ MEETING - The Voters’ meeting will be held on Sunday, October 29 at 2:00pm.

LUTHERAN LAYMEN’S LEAGUE ZONE 2 RALLY - The LLL Zone 2 Rally will be at Trinity on Sunday, October 22 at 2:30pm. Gary Thies will be our speaker. Contact Frederick Fischer at 308-384-3432 for meal reservations if you are planning on eating supper. We hope to see you there.

LUTHERAN LAYMEN’S LEAGUE - Plan to attend the LLL Soup Supper on Tuesday, November 7 from 5-7pm. A variety of hearty soups, crackers, relishes and desserts will be served. There will be a free-will donation, come enjoy Christian fellowship, homemade food and join in the support of Lutheran Hour Ministries, Trinity Lutheran School and Heartland Lutheran High School.

for this outreach event. Last year we served over 900 people. Please bring donations to the east entryway by Monday, October 23.

SUNDAY MORNING FAITH DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

9:15-10:15am… Adults - Adult Bible study - meet in the fellowship hall. A MAN NAMED MARTIN (Part 3—The

Movement) we will examine the effects of the Lutheran Reformation and what consequences it had and how it continues to grow today.

Coffee and Conversation for Young Adults - meet at Panera Bread (1040 Allen Drive) 9:30-10:10 a.m.

Drop your kids off at Trinity for Bible Connections or childcare from 9:15-10:25am (use west entrance and go

down the steps). Youth - 2 years-6th Grade meet in classrooms in the west hallway off the lower level for bible events and

hands on activities. 7th—12th Grade Youth - Meet in the Youth room. C Champs - For Challenged Adults meet in the church chapel. High school age and up learn Bible stories and

do activities.

PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN A parent room and unstaffed nursery is located in the back of the church. Use it as needed for your family. Amenities include: ~Changing table ~Restroom ~Monitor for worship service.

CHILDREN’S CHURCH! Children ages 2 and above are invited to go to the chapel during 10:30am sermon time for a children’s message, singing, and an activity that is on the same theme as the sermon. They will return to their parents during the offering. This gives the children an opportunity to hear God’s Word in an age appropriate way and for parents to be able to listen to the sermon without interruptions.

Volunteers at The Big Grape will receive a lump sum of $200-$250 made out to Trinity Lutheran Church. A minimum of 10 volunteers are required to qualify & must be 21 or over. An ID will be required. The event is held at The Pinnacle Bank Arena at Fonner Park and volunteers need to check in at 4:30pm Saturday, October 21. There are generally 2 people at each table around the perimeter of the arena. Admission, as well as the appetizers & beverages, are free to volunteers. Chairs are provided so you may sit, as needed. There are also extra volunteers to relieve you so you can take breaks to visit other tables at the event . You can work the entire evening, usually 4:30pm - 9:30pm, or in shorter shifts. Please reserve your spot while you still can. The money raised from the admission and auction will go towards Juvenile Diabetes. TRINITY TIGER SCRIP - To get your Tiger Scrip cards before Thanksgiving and Black Friday, order them by October 23 and they will be delivered on October 30. To have them by Christmas Order by November 27 and they will be delivered on December 4. This is a great way to help the school without spending a dime extra on your merchandise.

500TH REFORMATION ANNIVERSARY WORSHIP AND DINNER AT CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, NEBRASKA - Worship begins at 3:30pm with guest preacher, Rev. Dr. Tim Saleska and will include special music provided by Concordia’s vocal and instrumental ensembles. Registration is not required for the worship service but is required for the Germanfest. A Germanfest dinner will follow the worship at 5:00pm on Sunday, October 29, complete with entertainment. The menu includes German potato salad, beef roulades, chicken schnitzel, bratwurst with fresh sauerkraut, pretzel breads, cheese blintzes and German chocolate cake! REFORMATION 500! - Celebrate with Heartland Lutheran High School at the annual Reformation Service on Tuesday, October 31. This year the guest pastor will be Rev. Jonathan Fisk from KFUO Radio in St. Louis and Worldview Everlasting online. The HLHS junior class will be hosting a German style meal beginning at 5:30pm. The service begins at 7:00pm. We hope to see you all there to celebrate Reformation 500!

CHRISTMAS AT CONCORDIA - Trinity Lutheran Laymen’s League is sponsoring a bus for Christmas at Concordia on December 3. Contact Kathy Aufdemberge at (308)382-5506 for more information. Please let her know by November 15 if you plan on attending.

MARTIN LUTHER MOVIE - The movie, A Return to Grace: Luther’s Life and Legacy, will be shown in Hastings in the Perkins Auditorium in Fuhr Music Hall on the Hastings College Campus. Admission is free and open to the public. Seating is limited to the first 250 people. This film is sponsored by Thrivent Financial, Hastings College Perkins Library, and Peace Lutheran Church, Hastings. The movie will be shown at the following dates and times:

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY DEDICATION OF HOME #92 will be held on Sunday, October 22 at 3:00pm. A ceremony with refreshments will be at Lincoln Elementary School, followed by an open house at the home located at 811 E. 6th Street. Trinity members worked several Saturdays at this home. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate with the new owner.

WELCOME TO WORMS - Did budgetary restrictions hinder your hopes of traveling for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation? Perhaps that ship hasn’t entirely sailed. Come to Worms and celebrate with us the beauty and truth of God’s salvation given fully and freely in Jesus Christ! Zion Lutheran Church in Worms will have a special celebration on Sunday, October 15. At 1:30pm there will be a blessing of the mosaic designed by artist Rachel Ziegler. The mosaic was created in conjunction with Reformation 500 and celebrates God’s faithfulness in the past, present, and future. At 2:00pm “Martin Luther” will make a special appearance, giving hearers the chance to ponder the meaning of his “Here I Stand” stance at Worms. A pie and ice cream social follows. Please join us!
