I want to express my gratitude to all who made this past Sunday a special day in the life of Trinity Baptist Church. Our Facility Master Planning Committee, Transition Team, Trustees, Deacons, Sunday School Council and Teachers; along with so many others made this first day of the transition possible. This coming Sunday, we will have our first day of worship in the ROC or gym. On Wednesday night, if you have the opportunity, you might want to go to the ROC to familiarize yourself with the layout of the room and how this space is being transformed for a place of worship. I am excited about beginning this 16-month journey with you in this space. This coming Wednesday night we will kick-off our fall schedule. There are a few changes that you need to be aware of that will help you as you get involved. First, we are going to be serving our meal until 6:15 p.m. This should help some of you, who have to arrive a little later from work. I also hope that some parents who are rushing to get their children here by 6:00 p.m., for Music and Missions, will be able to drop off the kids; then, come to the Fellowship Hall for a nice meal and maybe some down time before our adult programs begin. Our Wednesday night Bible Study is going to have a new form. We are calling it “Sacred Space.” There will be a time of worship, prayer and instruction. We are going to be studying the book of Acts this fall. Rev. Lydia Tatum and I will be leading this time of worship and instruction. We will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Chapel. We will design our time together to conclude at 7:20 p.m. to allow parents and others to pick-up children, and for choir members to attend practice. Every week we hope to provide a sacred space where you can take a deep breath, refocus on God and find encouragement from brothers and sisters in Christ. Join us on Wednesdays. Finally, if you have not signed-up for TNT, I want to encourage you to do so. Our Tuesday night Bible Study for both men and women begins with our first night fellowship meal on September 13, at 6:00 p.m. Come and be a part of Acts: The Story Continues. TNT will consist of 8 sessions this fall. You can sign-up by calling the church office or by simply showing up on September 13, and we will place you in a small group. Join us! MARRIAGE Enrichment Groups

(First Year and Ongoing)

Begin Friday, September 9 Sign-up on Narthex Board Now!

A Marriage Enrichment Group (MEG) is an ongoing small group that provides a safe place for married or engaged couples to explore their relationship among supportive peers. Each MEG is as unique as the couples in them! All couples are there to strengthen and grow their relationship, and have fun doing it.

We will build skills toward enriching four things that will encourage a healthy marriage relationship:

• A Commitment to Growth• An Effective Communication System• The Creative Use of Conflict• Frequent Expressions of Affection

and Affirmation

MEGs meet once a month. The “First Year” group will meet the 2nd Friday of each month during the school year in the Underground. “Ongoing” groups (alumni) meet in a home with up to 10 couples including a Leader Couple. Each month we will address a different topic. Though there is social time, the majority of the time is spent with couples dialoguing about the weekly topic as it concerns their relationship.

JfL also magnifies the spiritual aspect of Work – God worked, created the world, and continues to work in our lives today. It also helps prepare the students for a successful job search, getting resumes tuned up, honing online job search skills, and also perfecting a “60 Second Commercial” about themselves.

If you know someone who is looking for a job, please encourage them to take this Jobs for Life class. Flyers are available in the church office or by contacting Stephanie Treadway at [email protected].

SUPPORT / PRAYER GROUP

Adult Children of Aging Parents

Thursday, September 8 • 6:30pm • Parlor

If your senior adult parent(s)’ care weighs heavily on your mind, this every-other-month gathering is for you. All of us struggle with “honor your father and your mother” and what it is at this stage in our lives. Hearing each other’s stories and how you are dealing with this helps participants understand that they are not alone. It gives us the opportunity to lift each other and our parents in prayer.

An email reminder is sent out several days before the gathering. To get on the list, please send an email to [email protected]. Join us when you can! It is not a Bible study, and so you can miss and jump back in.

It is an exciting time to see everything come together for the building program to finally come to reality. Special thanks to all of our musicians who are making great strides to keep our music ministry going through the preparations, transitions, and carrying-on of worship at Trinity.

______

Primetimers Choir begins on September 13! Sylvia Pearce has agreed to lead the PrimeTimers Choir and is one of our dedicated musicians who has led music for many years. She is currently our Bells of Praise director. We welcome her and her gifts as we begin a new journey and year together. The choir begins in a few weeks, so mark your calendars and come be a part of this special group of friends and church family!

High School Sunday Parking

As we prepare for our exciting new building project, we are hoping to ease our parking woes in a couple of ways. What we are asking for our high school students who happen to drive separately from their parents is this:

This is just one simple way that we can be a part of helping our church as we seek to make room for others!

I had the opportunity to spend the week at Campbell University learning with other children’s ministers ways that we can teach our children about God. One of my favorite activities of the week was our discussion about how we can teach faith to our children in every room of our homes. Have you ever thought about that? You see, the thing is, to teach our children about faith does not take any extra time, we just have to be intentional. We have to stop and think about what we are saying and doing with our children that might be gentle reminders and lessons about our faith. Below I’ve listed some simple ways that we can live our faith in the different

rooms of our home. This is just a start! I’ll be in prayer for your family as you work together to live your faith out at home. Be creative. Be Intentional. Grow and learn together!

Bedroom: Nightly prayers, Read Bible Stories at bedtime, Family Devotionals, Reflection time

Living Room: Family faith stories, Family Bible Study, Life choice discussions based on TV or other media, Family games based on the Bible

Kitchen: Cook meals for the needy or neighbors, Teach recycling and stewardship, Put notes in children’s lunch boxes (a verse or prayer), Emphasize good foods that take care of our bodies, Prayer of thanksgiving over food, Celebrate family traditions

Bathroom: Discussion of how God made you, Discussion of body as a temple
