HYMN Crown Him with Many Crowns DIADEMATA

Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon the throne; Hark, how the heav’nly anthem drowns All music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who died for thee, And hail Him as thy matchless king Through all eternity.

Crown Him the Lord of Love— Behold His hands and side, Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified. No angels in the sky Can fully bear that sight, But downward bend their burning eyes At mysteries so bright.

Crown Him the Lord of life, Who triumphed o’er the grave And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save.

His glories now we sing, Who died and rose on high, Who died, eternal life to bring, And lives that death may die.

Brass Interlude

Crown Him the Lord of years, The potentate of time, Creator of the rolling spheres, Ineffably sublime. All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou hast died for me; They praise and glory shall not fail Throughout eternity.

PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST

ANTHEM Joy in the Morning Natalie Sleeth

There’ll be joy in the morning on that day, There’ll be joy in the morning on that day, For the daylight will dawn When the darkness is gone, There’ll be joy in the morning on that day.

There’ll be peace and contentment evermore, There’ll be peace and contentment evermore, Ev’ry heart, ev’ry voice Will together rejoice, There’ll be peace and contentment evermore,

And the glory, glory, glory of the Lord Will shine, . . . will shine (shine upon us) And the glory, glory, glory of the Lord Will bring the truth divine.

There’ll be love and forgiveness everywhere, There’ll be love and forgiveness everywhere, And the way of the Lord Will that day be restored; There’ll be love and forgiveness everywhere.

DOXOLOGY Hymn #592 Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION

SCRIPTURE READING: John 20:1-18 (NRSV, Pew Bible pp. 882-883)

1 Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb. 2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” 3 Then Peter and the other disciple set out and went toward the tomb. 4 The two were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent down to look in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen wrappings lying there, 7 and the cloth that had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen wrappings but rolled up in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. 10 Then the disciples returned to their homes. 11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12 and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” 14 When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where

Page 6: Trinity · 2019-04-18 · Trinity Easter Sunday, April 21st, 2019 10:00 a.m. Trinity Presbyterian Church 630 Park Avenue Prescott, Arizona 86303 (928) 445-4536

you have laid him, and I will take him away.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord”; and she told them that he had said these things to her.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE FOLLOWED BY THE LORD’S PRAYER

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power

And the glory, forever. Amen.

BIBLE STUDIES & FELLOWSHIP “Open my eyes, so that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”~Psalm 119:18 (NRSV)

IGNITE YOUTH -- God does not call us to be “lukewarm” believers. He wants all of our hearts, all of the time. Let’s grow together and learn how to ignite our faith so that we can do our best to always be believers on fire for Christ. Open to all youth ages 6th grade through 18 years old. Sundays year-round at 10:15 AM, and Tuesdays during the school year from 3:30-5:30 PM in the Youth Room. For more information, contact Kelsey Claire at 928-445-4536 x110 or [email protected].

INTERSECTIONS CLASS is currently studying and discussing the book The Divine Dance: The Trinity and Your Transformation by Richard Rohr and Michael Morrell. This book delves into the central doctrine of the Trinity using one of the metaphors of the early church leaders who described the one God who is three persons as a divine dance. The book discusses how a deeper conception of Father, Son and Holy Spirit can transform our relationship with God and renew our lives. All are welcome. Sundays at 9:00 AM in the Sicatuva Room.

TRINITY 4KIDS is our program for children up to 5th grade. We meet year-round on Sundays at 8:30 AM and 10:15 AM in the Children's Center (through Grace Mitchell and downstairs). Come join us for fun lessons and activities! For more information contact Jennifer Garber at [email protected] or 928-445-4536 x114.

FRIDAY WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY FELLOWSHIP meets Fridays at 9:30 AM in Sicatuva. "We need Jesus like we need oxygen," says Eldredge. We welcome all women and look forward to having you join us. For questions, contact Kate Ingalls at 267.981.3923.
