Triiforce is aHomebrew applicationthat allows you to runWiiWare off of anemulated NAND

emulated NANDbackup of your Wii.

So why not just installa Wii Ware wad andmove it to the SD cardand run it from there?Well apparently, before the Wii can runit, it copies it to theWii's NAND and runs itwhich is even worsethan installing itdirectly to the NANDdue to it writing itevery time you loadthe Wii Ware game. Also, adding orremoving multipleWiiWare games is donein a few seconds.

Another advantage torunning Triiforce isthat you can exceedthe 512MB storagelimit that the Wii has. Some Wii Ware wadfiles are close to 50MBand can quickly eat upyour Wii's storagespace preventing youfrom saving games.

There are otheradvantages as wellbeyond saving wii-NAND space. You willbe able to add cheatcodes to your gamesand you will be able torun your games inother wii consoles.

Please note that thisis an auto sd loading.dol file.

Go into yourSD:\apps\triiforcefolder and rename theboot.dol file you havein there for backuppurposes.

Extract the debug.dolfile to theSD:\apps\triiforcefolder and rename it toboot.dol.

Fire up triiforce_mrc.

This version shouldpause on ANY errormessage that couldpossibly pop up. Thismay not be necessaryin some cases as someerror messagesalready pause whenthey display.

If you get an error, please post what it is.I modified every errormessage I could findwith the word "IN" andthen the function itbelongs to (forexample instead ofjust seeing themessage "Identifyfailed", you should see"Identify failed INBOOT_TITLE".

This will make things alot easier to try andfigure out what isgoing wrong. To getpost the errormessage, just pressany button andtriiforce shouldcontinue running. Allthis version does ithave a function thatwaits for you to pressany button on the wiiremote when an erroroccurs.

***InstallationGuide*** I hope you downloadedthe Triiforce_Pack_R2.2above like it said to!

Step 1. Creatinga NAND Dump Pending rewrite once Ifigure out howShowMiiWads can extract aBootMii nand

1. Dump the nand withBootMii. (Make sureyou have at least550MB free on yourSD card so that thenand file will fit. Myoriginal BootMii nanddump was 528MB) Youwill get a file namednand.bin on your SDcard.

Note: I am not going tocover all the steps involvedin installing and runningBootMii. Those steps areavailable in any of themain hacking guideslocated in the tutorialssection of WiiHacks(Messie's 4.2 guide orDogeggs' 3.1-4.1 guideboth have the steps. YouMUST dump the nandthough so if it saysoptional, do it!). Just clickthe TUTORIAL button inthe menu bar at the top ofthe page to find them. Ifyou can't find this link, turn off your computer, pack up your Wii in theoriginal packaging (ifavailable) and either: a)Give your Wii to a friend,b) Sell your Wii OR c) Tossit out a window. Why?Because you are obviouslyblind and helpless andwould not experience anyof the enjoyment youwould get from playing aWii. Now, back on topic...)

2. Put the nand.binfile you get from theBootMii dump in thenand-tools folderfrom theTriiforce_Pack_R2posted above.

3. In the nand-toolsfolder run nand aes

folder, run nand-aes-dump.exe. It willextract your AES keyfrom your nand.bininto a file callednand-key.bin.

4. Proceed by openingthe cmd.lnk and acommand promptshould pop up.

5. In the commandprompt, type -->"NAND-bin2raw.exenand.binnand_dec.bin"(without quotes) andpress enter. It shouldstart the decryptingprocess. You shouldend up with 2 .binfiles: an encryptedand a decrypted nanddump.

6. Next, type in thatcommand prompt"zestig.exe nand-key.binnand_dec.bin nand"(without quotes) andpress enter. It shouldhave decryptedeverything and placedit into a new foldercalled nand.

NOTE: The NAND youget from this dump isgoing to be biggerthan the originalSimpleFSDumpermethod from thisguide. My originalBootMii NAND wasaround 520MB, butthis decrypted nand issmaller.

Step 2. InstallingTriiforce

USB Loading StepsIf loading from an SDnand skip to Step 3 of theguide.

You must have a FAT32 partition on yourUSB device and thispartition must be setto ACTIVE

C. Select the drivewith the Fat32partition you areusing. You will see ithighlighted below.

D. Right click on thedrive and select MarkPartition as Active.

Step 3. InstallingTriiforceForwarder

I prefer to launch theHomebrew applicationsthat I use frequentlyfrom the Wii's mainchannel screen. Inorder to do that withTriiforce, we need toinstall a forwarder.

NOTE: TheTriiforce_Pack_R2.2has both an SD and aUSB forwarder.

READ THIS!!!You must unrarONE OR THEOTHER beforeinstalling theforwarder. Makesure you use theright one!

- If you are onlyusing a USB device, you MUST use theWAD in the "TriiforceMRC SS USBForwarder.rar"archive.

Page 10: Triiforce MRC User Guide - How to Load Wii Ware from a USB Drive or SD Card

- If you are runningthe boot.dol from anSD card or only usingan SD card, youMUST use the WAD inthe"Triiforce_SD_Forwarder.rar" archive

1. Go to theHomebrew channeland run WadManager1.5 (included in theTriiforce_Pack_R2)

Next, we need toconvert games into aformat usable by theemulated NAND. Forthis, we will use theprogram ShowMiiWads.

1. In ShowMiiWads, goto the Options menuand select ChangeNAND Backup Path.

2. Navigate to wherethe nand folder (fromstep 1-5) is located, select it and press OK.

3. Go to the Viewmenu and then selectShowMiiNand. Youshould see a long listof everything that is inthe nand backuplisted. I recommendnot messing with anyof these files!

A1. Check the nameof the folder wherethe triiforce boot.dol isin the apps directory. The forwarder looksfor a folder namedtriiforce, nottriiforce_mrc oranything else.- Also, make sure youare using the correctforwarder. If you usethe SD forwarderwhen your nand is ona USB device, you willload into this built-intriiforce.

Q2. When I try toexit a game, I get ablack screen andhave to restart myWii.A2. Most games willnot exit by goingHome > Wii Menu. Tryselecting Resetinstead of Wii menu. Many games will resetthe Wii instead of thegame, but somegames still reset thegame only. Anotherthing to try are thesteps Smyers75posted HERE

Q3. I Keep getting"Error: I can't gettitle list Press anybutton" whentriiforce loads.A3. This can becaused by a fewthings:- You are trying toload from an SD cardor USB device andyour nand files are noton the root of thedevice. Make sure thefolders that make upthe nand are NOT inanother folder. Manypeople tend to putthem in a folder callednand on the root ofthe device to keep thedevice directory clean. This is wrong.- You are trying toload triiforce from anand on an SDHCcard. Triiforce canonly load a nand from

an SD card or a USBdevice.- You are trying toload triiforce from anand on a USB deviceand the Fat32partition is not set toACTIVE. Refer to thesection of this guidetitled USB LoadingSteps on how to fixthis.- You do not havecIOS 38 installed to249 and/or if you arenot using rev 14, 15 or17. Triiforcespecifically requirescIOS 249 and is notcompatible withrevisions lower than14 or 16.- You are trying toload triiforce from anand on a USB deviceand the USB device isturned off (most 3.5"hard drive enclosuresneed to be turned onmanually).- You have no gamesinstalled on your nand.Use ShowMiiWadsand install some as perstep 5 of this guide.

Q4. Some of mygames take a longtime to load.A4. Some games seemto have longer loadtimes or save gamecreation times whenrunning them fromtriiforce. I have seensome games with 10second or even 30second load times.Just be patient. Ifnothing comes up, thegame may not becompatible withtriiforce.

Q5. After decryptingmy nand and puttingthe folders on theUSB device/SD Card,do I need to keepnand.bin ornand.dec on the rootof the device?A5. No. nand.bin isthe actual nand youdumped and nand.dec

dumped and nand.decis the decryptedversion that thefolders you need comefrom. I would save abackup of nand.bin onyour computer, butyou can deletenand.dec.

Q6. The game Ireally want to playwon't work intriiforce.A6. Not all games arecompatible, that isknown. If you reallywant to play it, Irecommend installing itto your wii instead ofthe nand on your usbdevice/SD card.

Q7. Triiforce is notloading any gameimages.A7. Make sure thetriiforce_mrc folder isnamed correctly(there's TWO i's) andis on the root of yourUSB device/SD card(depending on thetriiforce version youare using).- Also, make sure thepictures are theproper size 192 pixelswide x 112 pixels tall.- Make sure the fileformat of the image isa .png

Q8. Triiforce did notsave my options fora game.A8. If you are usingTriiforce_MRC_SS, itsaves a config file forevery console typeyou load, including theALL option. To see theconfig you saved for agame, load the sameconsole type the nexttime. If you save aconfig on a particularconsole type then loadALL games, the configwill not be there asALL is loaded from aseparate config file.

4. Select the wad file from the list that you want to create apicture from.

NOTE: You will want to write down the code shown in the Title IDfield. This is what you must name the image you are going tocreate or else triiforce will not be able to load the image for thespecific game. In this example, the code is QAPJ

5. Go to the Edit menu and select Preview.http://i897.photobucket.com/albums/a...owMiiWads3.png

6. A window will open up with two list boxes at the bottom. Youcan cycle through these list boxes until you find an ideal image.

NOTE: The size of the image below is 256 x 192 pixels which is toobig for Triiforce. The maximum size an image can be is 192 x 112pixels. Also, the files must be in .PNG format. (I haven't tested tosee if other formats even work)

7. Click on the save button and name the image with the code yougot from the Title ID field for the game in Step 6-4 above.

8. Next, create a folder called triiforce_mrc in the root of your SDcard. This is the directory that Triiforce looks in for game imagefiles.

9. Copy the image file you created for the game into this directory.http://i897.photobucket.com/albums/a...owMiiWads5.png

Step 7. Playing Games in Triiforce

Now that we have some games installed and the icons that triiforcewill use, it's time to play some games!

1. Start up Triiforce using the forwarder or from the HomebrewChannel.

2. Depending on the version you are using, you will be shown aprompt on the bottom of the screen that says < Use USB-NAND >.If your nand files are on your USB device, Press A or press left onthe directional pad of the controller until you see < Use SD-NAND >and press A.

Note: If you used the AUTO SD LOAD or Triiforce MRC SS versions, you will not have to select a nand type. Triiforce will automaticallyload to the game menu of the AUTO SD LOAD version or you will beprompted to select a console type to load.

3. Triiforce MRC will load and you should see all of your games likein the example below.

Page 22: Triiforce MRC User Guide - How to Load Wii Ware from a USB Drive or SD Card

4. You can not use the pointer to select a game in Triiforce. Youmust use the directional pad. If you move to the left or right, youwill be able to cycle through the different pages full of your WiiWare games.

5. If you want to reorder the games select the game you want tomove and press 1 or 2 on the controller. If you want to swap thegame with another, select the other game and press 1. The gameswill swap positions in your list. If you want to just move a file into aposition in the list, highlight the file you want to move, press 2 andthen highlight where you want the game to be moved to and press2 again.

6. Once you have ordered your games, press the home button onthe controller and select Save Changes to SD. If you do not savethe changes, the order of your games will revert to what itoriginally was.

Note: If you are using the original .dol file (the one where you haveto manually select SD-NAND), you may get a code dump if you tryto exit to Homebrew. If you are using the AUTO_SD_LOAD versionfrom Step 2, the Wii will restart instead when you exit.

6. Click on a game title to load it up and have fun!

I'll get on that. I had posted steps 6 and 7 without pictures at theend of the first post for the time being, but I also accidentallydouble posted Steps 6 and 7 in later posts so the guide looked a lotlonger than it should.

I will change some of the images to be only links to images as theyare pictures of less value.

I had this happen once with a second SD card that was a copy ofmy original SD card. The only thing that would appear was WiiFlowin the list. Did you copy both the ticket and title folder contentsonto the SD card's ticket and title folders? Did you place them inthe correct sub folders? Make sure the title files are in their ownfolder.

Also which boot.dol did you use? The original one that lets youselect the source or the one I modified? For this guide, don't usethe AUTO USB LOAD one that comes in the Triiforce MRC pack.

Bah, you beat me to it, I was just coming to edit my post and sayTriiforce has not been verified to work with SDHC cards. Thanksmessie. From what I have read, Triiforce has very limited SDHCcompatibility. Apparently they are working on it.

Some people say that the MRC version is working with SDHC. Ihave a 4GB sdhc in the house, I will have to test it when I gethome. If simpleFSDumper does not dump correctly to an SDHCcard, is it possible to dump to a regular SD card and copy the nanddump files over to the sdhc card? I may have to test this.

One Triiforce custom order coming right up! (As soon as I'm not atwork... I should have it for you tonight)
