We would like to get to know you! Each pew has a Welcome Bookin whichyou can let us know prayer requests, sign up for events and update your

information. Please pass the Welcome Book down the row!

    Communion/Lords Supper

All followers of Christ are welcome to participate in our Service ofCommunion. If you have prepared yourself for this very special moment with

our Savior, you are invited to his table. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30) Please take

the emblems as they are passed and partake when you are ready. Someprefer to take it while it is in front of them before passing it along.

    Offering

In all of our services, a special time for giving is set aside. Participation is an

    act of worship and voluntary.

NurseryWe have a friendly, well-staffed and impeccably clean nursery located on

the north side of the narthex. Please see an usher for directions.

Begin 2013 with a new commitment to read the

Bible in one year! Start out simply or dig deep

detail. It is up to you!

    Suggestions:

1.The Story abridged NIV Bible edited by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee.

The Storyis chronologically rearranged and divided into 31 chapters,

covering from Genesis to Revelation. Daily readings take 10-15 minutes.

Some books are condensed into short italicized summaries which areinserted throughout the book. (Local Christian bookstores are selling this

    for $5 now.)

2.The Living Bible This popular paraphrase of the Bible is written in modern,easier-to-read language. The Living Bible can be used in conjunction with

a number of Bible reading programs which we will make available!

3.The Daily Bible (edited by F. LaGard Smith) - This complete NIV Bible isarranged chronologically, as much as possible, to help you place

important biblical events. The Daily Bible has been divided into 365segments which take about 15 minutes to read. Different historical

sections are introduced with background material. (Highly

    recommended by Jim Langdal!)

4.Fixed Points written and newly revised by Frank Shirvinski. This studyprovides daily readings from the Old Testament, the New Testament,

Psalms or Proverbs and Apocrypha with a centering prayer to start your

reading and a place for reflections afterwards. It is set up to read 6 days

a week with a 7th day of rest! Each day ends with a focus for prayer for

the day. It is designed to be a guide for your Bible reading and prayer

each day. Very helpful in encouraging prayer, too!5.The Life Application Study Bible (NIV) orHarper Collins Study Bible (NRSV

with Apocrypha) Both of these Bibles provide in-depth introductions to

each book, study notes and commentary throughout. If you have read

the Bible through several times, one of these Bibles may be the perfect

challenge for you to dig deeper in your study of Gods Word!

6.YouVersion.com - This online tool contains several reading programs andtranslations of the Bible! YouVersion is also available as an app forsmartphones and tablet devices, so you can take your reading program

anywhere! An added benefit is that the "events" feature allows you to

access notes for the sermons at Chaparral!

For more information contact Chris Lee at 480-836-1105 or via email at

[email protected]. You can also visit the Chaparral Events page to sign-up!
