Identical handling in all aspects of construction.The principle of operation with TRICAD MS® is almostidentical in each module. Not only that, the data areavailable throughout, i.e. they only need to be enteredonce. In this way you significantly reduce your time andlabour outlay. Also important are the integral computa-tion features. These include the sewer system and pipe

network, waste water and radiators through to the VdSsprinkler calculation using IDAT. With this layout module in TRICAD MS® you have auser-friendly tool available for the partially automateddesign of overhead and floor-based materials-handlingsystems. Position the relevant conveyor elements easilyusing an appropriate configuration mask. Here you canwork as desired with almost twenty different types ofconveyor. We have integrated the following materials-handling systems in co-operation with leading factorydesigners.

Position a roller conveyor in a trice by defining the startand end points. It is also just as easy to position tables,lifters, points, etc. With the roller conveyor you have forexample the following input parameters available forone strand:

This wide range of variants enables you to realise indi -vidual designs. You can also position control cabinets,guard barriers and loading gantries as required aroundthe conveyor elements using the materials-handling lay-out module. You produce the guard barriers very simplyby clicking on a line in the 3D mode. Insert the doorsand apertures at any time later. Apply a bottom guardalong the overhead conveyor system by placing it, forexample, through the selection of a planned electricaloverhead monorail or by placing it along an existing line.You can specify the bottom guard in height, width(left/right), spacing and model.

An initial envelope-curve analysis is already integratedinto the module. You can carry out other detailed analy-ses with the tractory curve module. Finally, with this toolyou can also assign unit prices (mechanical or electrical)for the used components or track mass assessments viathe report manager and Microsoft Excel. Optionally, youcan transfer your data to the simulation software via theXML interface.

With the combined steel platform and steel constructionmodule in TRICAD MS® you can easily produce routinelayouts in both the 2D and 3D models. You can accessthe associated reporting and dimensioning for all com-ponents. All currently available DIN profiles are storedas well as further country-specific steel profiles. Designyour steel beams in any MicroStation window directly inthe 2D or 3D view. Construct platforms, surfaces andapertures according to freely definable polygons.

TRICAD MS® also enables you to automatically sur-round apertures with 3D steel beams. Here, the inter-section priority with the bearers and apertures is takeninto account. Furthermore, you have the option of def -ining and modifying different profile ends as requiredduring the design, such as for example, end plates, mitr -ed joints or welding gaps. You have the choice of apply-ing detailed grid or metal sheet floors or simple overlays.

Here is a summary of the other functions:

With the TRICAD MS® Paint & Coating Systems youhave the possibility of generating complete layouts forthe design of spraying and drying plants. The requiredcomponents to be fitted are available either fully param -etrised or are present in an application-specific cell library.The alignment and location of components, e.g. spraynozzles, can be individually defined in relation to theselected booth.

The definition of the component parameters is simpli-fied through the integration of predefined sample datasets for spray booths and other objects. You can quicklyselect the booth via the respective process step and placeit with the aid of two points as with a line. Here, prop -erties such as colour, level and line thickness, etc. areimmediately assigned. All the booth properties can beprocessed retrospectively at any time using the Info but-ton. When you select the Info button and click the rele-vant booth, you are shown the same mask as for theinput.

You can implement the dryers in various forms using theassigned tunnels. The tunnel profile as well as all theTRICAD MS® elements consist of MicroStation cellswhich can be expanded any time as required. Filters andnozzles can be inserted retrospectively. Lines can be formed according to various criteria. First, you select thetunnel profile and then define the corners betweenwhich the nozzles and filter elements are to be installed.Then, you determine the size and shape of the nozzlesand filters.

The floor, wall and overhead robots are positioned in thebooths as required with the respective travel path. Withoverhead robots you can arrange up to four units exactly

to scale with just one click. After positioning compo-nents render settings are assigned automatically so thatbooth fittings become visible. With the slight transpar -ency of the booths it is possible to view the entire instal-lation.

Using the TRICAD MS® Conveyor Systems you caninclude all the required types of handling in the paintingline to establish consistency with the other modules.You can also carry out an envelope-curve calculationusing the TRICAD MS® Tractory Curve program, in partic -ular for shuttle conveyors, VarioShuttle and RoDip.

With this tool you can calculate and display tractory curves for road vehicles. Furthermore, the module en -ables you to determine envelope curves and surfacesalong the materials-handling routes. You define thecourse of the tractory curves for various types, such aspolyline, manoeuvring, mouse travel, destination, supplyroute or also guide board or free travel. The specific dis-tances and dimensions of the vehicles are individuallyadjustable. You can specify the number of individualpositions for the calculation using an increment. The cal-culated envelope curve and the determined envelopevolume are enlarged by an offset value. With the calcu-lated results files you can display the vehicles in two orthree-dimensions in various depths of detail, superim-posing them or masking them out as required. You cansimulate the route based on 3D objects.

With the specially developed TRICAD MS® Crane Mo d -ule you can produce 3D layouts for various crane sys-tems very easily and quickly. The predefined modularprinciple supports you in the selection and positioningof various types of crane. Here, the complete crane vari-ant incl. all accessory parts is always applied as a unit.

The following types of crane are currently supported:

TRICAD MS® includes all functional features for fittingsteel construction profiles. You can adjust several para-meters at the same time, from the width, height andlength through to the profiles. In addition, you can definesupports as well as suspension brackets, wall brackets,foot-plates and end plates. For the exact design anglesimply specify the reference point, angle and Z-coordi-nate.

Using the command <TENTPNT>, you construct thesteel structure “TEMPORARY” at the defined coordina-te. Then you simply change the values such as length orthe steel profile by selecting “UPDATE GRAPHICS” sothat the graphical display is set up correctly. It is easy toinsert the steel structure into the design file, because allelements belong to the same graphical group. Using theavailable templates, you can quickly adjust the type ofconstruction, crane trolley and working load of the gantry crane.

With the swarf conveyor module you can quickly andconveniently model various handling systems for swarfdisposal. Simply use the existing kit with parametrisedobjects for emulsions, oils and dry swarf.

Speed up your design work with components to suit thehandling method. These include tub, elbow, media out-let, tension station, drive station, terminal, nozzle switch,outlet, pipe connection, vane, funnel and many more.All these components are stored in an XML data basefile.

With the cutting emulsion you can exploit the possibili-ty, for example, of adapting different types of swarf andtheir program structure. The types are divided into shortand long swarf, woolly swarf, dust and swarf balls. Therequired components are saved with the parametersappropriate to the respective type of handling.

For the graphical display of objects you have a choice ofline, surface and sheet design. The appropriate mainte-nance area is already assigned during the design. Prop -erties such as levels, colours and lines can be individu -ally defined for the specific types of handling and main-tenance areas.

For the scraper, slat-band chain and push-rod conveyorsyou can define the design angle with the displayed ninereference points. With the flume conveyor you have thethree upper design angles available.

The plant layout module provides you with the ideal toolfor quick and easy positioning of components through outthe whole factory. You can integrate new and existingMicroStation components and those from AutoCAD®

without complication. As with the specialist applications,with these elements you can additionally assign the TRICAD MS® intelligence.

The layout module covers a very wide spectrum in fac-tory design. As the user, you have more than 5,000objects available in the most varied categories. The scopeincludes fields such as production, workshop and logis-tics as well as the office, DP communications, buildingoutfitting/engineering and outside facilities (see illus -tration on the right). Furthermore, the module includesparametric functions for fences, trapezoidally corrugat -ed sheet, partitions, walls, windows, installation ele-ments, apertures, doors, bollards, collision guards, crashbarriers and many other features.

The application supports you and your co-workers in thegeneration of components and leads to a standardisedresult for all colours, levels, line thickness values andcomponent sizes as well as a homogeneous filing struc-ture. In addition, you assign object attributes and theprogram checks the relevant working step. In this waystandards are quickly and easily maintained.

With the expansions for machine and loading equip-ment preparation, you get a powerful tool with whichyou can place your new and existing machines and showthe space requirements in no time flat. Connections(e.g. water, cooling, etc.) can be designed with theother TRICAD MS® modules. You can design shelves,even high-rack storage areas, in seconds.

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the Qualitool, because the CAD data quality of your projectsis becoming increasingly important. The inspectionshould take place as early as possible in the process,particularly because the data inspection and documen-tation take up so much time. Using the Qualitool checkthe design files for the specified company standards anddocument the inspection results directly in the drawing.This enables you to implement the automatic correctionof your data.

Qualitool

This programme allows you to read any Autodesk®-Navisworks®-XML collision file. NavisClashBack checkswhether all drawings belonging to the entered collisionsas master or reference files are loaded in MicroStationand displays missing DGN files.

Display all collisions at once in MicroStation and thenprocess them. By clicking on the listed collisions centrethe colliding units in a set view and mark them with a ballon the collision point.

Use the TRICAD MS® Fire Protection Layout to prepareescape and rescue plans, complete with fire protectionsymbols, guides and labels, and including planning ofdirection arrows, area identification and edge markings.

This module was developed for Daimler AG. Care wastaken to achieve easy expandability and adaptive func-tionality, so it can be used successfully throughout theworld.

Its use was adapted to the entire TRICAD MS® productassortment, so every TRICAD MS® user can quickly learnto use this module. Cells saved by the user can be madeglobally available by the key user, so double cells andthe time needed for them are now things of the past.

With the TRICAD MS® Cell Selector, cells are placed inMicroStation drawings. The program reads various XMLfiles and graphically replicates the XML tree structure.The cells assigned to the active XML node are listed,and the attributes and graphics belonging to the activecell are displayed. The cell can be placed by double- clicking on the cell in the list box. The tree structure canbe built up independently of language; all displayedtexts are replaced by the layout program depending onthe set language.

With the list function, the layout cells in the MicroSta-tion file can be recorded in terms of their number, andthe attributes in the cells can be evaluated. The list isoutput through a Microsoft Excel file (optional).

The rules of behavior in case of fire and in case of acci-dents are presented clearly and in short, concise form.For the behavior in case of fire, the same presentation isnormally chosen as for the Fire Protection Code Part 1.

The escape and rescue plans are presented in accordan-ce with DIN 4844-3 and BGV A8 (German Employers'Liability Insurance Association regulations). Especially inpublic buildings, it can also make sense to prepare thedocuments in multiple languages.

With this tool, owners and operators of buildings andlarge-scale facilities can easily meet the legal obligationto post escape and rescue plans ”when location, extentand type of use of the workplace require it“ (§4 par. 4Arbeitsstättenverordnung (German Work Safety Regu-lation ) of 20 July 2007):

the building floor plan or parts thereof,the course of escape and rescue routes,the location of first-aid equipment,the location of fire protection facilities,the location of assembly points,the location of the viewer.
