Welcome To Tribic Gaming MagazineMeet Our Team

And Read A Nice Message From Our EditorHello and welcome to TRIBIC’s special Halloween issue!

Because there were people that were confused about it, this issue is not the “official” fifth installment of TRIBIC but instead is like the name suggests, it’s a special edition of TRIBIC! This is a tradition I will definitely try to keep going, as there will be special surprises in those! And what a better way to begin this by hosting a GIVEAWAY right here on TRIBIC! More info about this on

the Game

Wishlist that can be found in this magazine!

Just to give you an idea how great running a project like TRIBIC can be, when we first threw the idea out to the team about it, we thought it will be a small issue, barely 2-3 articles, but now we are counting over 10 of them which is absolutely great! To top

things off, we are starting to get the hang of things and TRIBIC is slowly but steadily getting transformed to an established maga-zine that deserves the attention of the world’s greatest gaming community, which of course is Gaming Tribe!

We have many things to see in this issue and one thing you can be sure of: lots of spooky stuff here! Apart from the Old but Gold and Anime Corner in this issue, we have a really nice PC Configs article as well; then we bring a special Halloween Mod and some

Pumpkin Carving, both made by Gerasimos! Then we have the TRIBIC Game List, which you guys help create every time! Lastly, we have Ben Enos come along with his article about CGN, yet another volunteer project of Gaming Tribe that is ongoing and hosted by members

of the Tribe.

But enough talk! I hope you guys enjoy this issue, as we took great care into making this! I will see you in the next issue, the fifth of TGM which will be codenamed: Warfare! See you soon folks!

Quote Angel Munoz

I’ve received quite a few messages about a member [now banned] who has been posting disparaging comments about Mass Luminosity (and/or me) in reference to the Gaming Tribe Community Volunteer (CV) program. It seems that this person is under the impression that volunteers run or manage the Gaming Tribe network or are given work tasks. Unfortunately, while the concern is honorable, it is simply not true.

A few things that are important to know about our community volunteer program:

(1) We did not organize the volunteer program. The volunteer program was completely self-organized by members who wanted to help other members of the community. They have no special powers in the community and are not admins. They simply offer their help to other members because of their own internal motivation.

(2) We do not manage the volunteer program. We do not ask volunteers to work on anything with a corporate agenda, or that would generate revenue for the company, and/or give them access to our back office. They define their tasks among themselves and we prefer not to intervene.

(3) We do recognize them. The volunteers asked for a special identity badge for credibility when contacting other members [which we agreed to do], and we do proudly list their names on our website, but neither should be interpreted to mean that they are assigned work by our company. They’re not.

Summary: A few years ago our Community Manager asked if he could organize a community volunteer program, as he was getting lots of requests. I reluctantly accepted with three conditions: (a) they would never be assigned to do actual company work. (b) They would be completely independent from our operation. (c) We would strictly limit their numbers.

On this basis the program has been running for a few years, and I have found myself many times admiring the selflessness of these individuals, not towards us as company, but towards other members of our global community. And although we do not ask volunteers to run the different aspects of our business (marketing, social media or software development), they certainly help shape the positive tone of this community, and for that I will always be grateful.

Pumpkin Carvingby

Gerasimos Koronaios

(my first one actualy XD) Well, mostly because I grew up with the

classic horror movies Halloween and many

of the similar theme, I kinda got obsessed

with the extraordinary carved pumpkins

that light the night!

I can without a doubt say that I am real-

ly jealous that we don’t celebrate here in

Greece such a splendid holiday!

After the Halloween mod that I did, our

editor mocked me that I couldn’t carve a

pumpkin! Who is laughing now Alex?

From the XP I gained I have to say that

it’s lot of fun and pretty easy to do.

Enough talk, let’s see how my first attempt

was!

Happy Halloween GTribers!

Old but GHOUL

From Dusk Till Dawn: the video game

11 October 2001-windowsGameSquad

Halloween, a time of scary , a time of tradition. For me, Halloween is a night to watch horror movies!

As you might be aware, I make the Old but Gold article for TRIBIC, and you might have read the article in this issue. But why not talk about a game that is Old but not that Gold but a game that is more Ghul than Gold!

Don’t get me wrong From Dusk Till Dawn: the video game is not a bad game, it’ s just not for the Old but Gold stand-

ard, this due to its age (only 14 years old!) and did not age that well; Still the game is worth a mention.

The first thing you willnotice is that the game doesn’t follow the movie, for those who have seen it. The movie closes with Seth Gecko survived the night in the bar and is on his way to El ray to live a happy live.

Yet in the game that same Seth Gecko is the Main character, and he has been sentenced to life in prison for the murders his brother Richie Gecko has done, he pleaded guilty on them and was sentenced for them.

The sentence is life in prison, but not any prison , oh no, Seth is going to a special prison, one that is not even on land , Seth is going to a prison on a boat! When the game beginsyou seeSeth is sentenced and is in said prison talkingto his lawyer. A chopper is bringing new inmates and inside the chopper ride, one of the prisoners boasts about how his brother is going to save him but the guards mock him by saying that wont happen as his brother is dead.

And they are kindaright, the guy’s brother is dead, but this is From Dusk Till Dawn so dead does not mean gone. It means vampire.

When the chopper lands and the prisoners are on the deck , the prisoner’s brother does show up and things go from bad to worse in minutes, as the vampire brother and some of his lackeys attack the guards and other inmates and veryquicklythe ship is crawling with the bloodsuckers, and Seth once again finds him waist deep in trouble.

The game is an odd one, and even had a little scandal that almost made the game not get released! Seth in the moviewas played by George Clooneyand GameSquad had his face in the game on Seth as well but this did not sitwell with Clooney and so a lawsuit prevented the makers of the game to have his face in the game.

What makes the game odd is because of several reasons, ss the game feels a little broken, When Seth dies he never really dies but instead the game has him down on the floor with one

HP with the camera revolving around him, forcing you to load up a check point, even if Sethis not really dead.

There is also the fact that Seth can gain health by stabbing the vampires through the heart, something he has to do to ensure the Vampires don’t get back up. It is never really ex-plained why Seth gets Health back for the stabbing , it just happens and the game tells you that it is the way it is.

The thing that makes this game worthwhile is the fact that the story starts off rather clichéand odd but quickly gets rather nice. And while the game feels like a survival horror , the game leans more towards a third person shooter then a real survival horror.

Like in the movie once the vampires take over the ship Seth is not the only survivor, there are more people alive, and here the story takes a little odd turn as people who work on the prison ship are rather ok with Seth being out and about and wielding weapons, Only one, a female guard questions him at the start but quickly is ok with him too, this feels little-weird, because in other prison horror games like The Suffering the guard were enemies too.

Luckily you don’t have to go from room to room to kill all the vampires as later in the game, after you found the pris-on’s priest , Seth devises a plan to have the man Bless all the water inthe fire sprinklers and then pull the fire alarm to kill of a number of the Vampires that way. It is a rather nice story element and makes even sense but sadly, the mission to get there is a rather slow Escort mission where a lot of the “special”Vampires show up.

Special vampires? Yes the game does not have just the regular ones, there are also Special ones, ones that explode, and they are annoying, so annoying that if you do not take them down quick enough their blast will “kill” you. Luckily you don’t have to stab these Vampires as being blown up is even to much for a vampire to survive. The game even has a moment that pays homage to the movie , with a band that just like in the movie “Play on human instru-ments and end the same way the band did in the movie.

Page 11: TRIBIC Special Issue: Halloween 2015

11

One of the things i missed from the movie is the making of weapons against the vampires, Seth basically has guns and his stake to kill the vampires, making the game glance over pos-sibilities for shanks and other prison made weapons but it’s a small loss.

As far as Third person shooters go , From Dusk Till Dawn has all the basics in it, and doesn’treally stray from the formula, making the game just one of many not so great Third person shooters that came out in the early 2000’s, yet the game is a guilty pleasure type of game, like with “the Devil Inside”. It’s one of those games that is fun too play on Halloween, just for the laughs and the chance to kill something else then zombies for once.

Story 2G out of 5

The story does not really follow the canon of the movie and is at times a little silly, like when people are rather ok with a convicted criminal wielding weapons, sure he is helping them but it just feels ...off. The game has some saving graces in the story and some nods to the movie, but not enough to save the game from feeling a little meh.

Graphics 1G out of 5

The game was not pretty to begin with , and has not aged all that well, even if we look at it in retrospect the game is just not that pretty, when I played the game a year after re-lease, it bothered me the game looked so blocky and ugly. Some graphic glitches and the weird camera thing when you die don’t help the game at all.

Gameplay/Difficulty: 3G out of 5

What keeps the game from being a total dud is the gameplay, the gameplay works even though you have some weird stuff in it , like the 1hp when you “die”but have to reload, it’s something that if it was fixed to an autoload on death would have elevated the game a bit more. The difficulty is also not that bad, I did die a lot but it was more due to the exploding vampires or my own stupidity than a too steep difficulty curve, the boss fights are annoying but does work well as you have to implement all that you learned through the game to make it through.

Replayability:1G out of 5

None, only if you want to make this game a bad game night tradition, when you have finished the game there is no real reason to replay it, Nothing changes as things become more emphasized when replaying the game. It is sad as the movie the game was based on is a movie I can watch over and over, the game is more like “the devil inside” and only fun once a year, or every couple of years.

Originality:1g out of 5

Like I said the game is just one of many, the vampire angle makes it not be a 0, as I would have given this game “if not for the use of the sprinkler system; other than that there is nothing original about this game.

This makes that From Dusk Till Dawn the game scores a 1,5G

Game reviewFatal Frame

by Mark Krijgsman

Horror is a strange thing, in movies it’s a genre that seems to keep reinventing it self; also has two styles: the Western Horror movies and the Eastern type of horror.

In recent years Eastern horror has stayed pretty much the same, whereas the Western and mainly the American horror went full blown gore, something Asians love to do too in weird horrorish stories. But the true scary stories coming from Asia don’t have that much gore.

In video games too we see this shift.

Even though Konami and Capcom are Japanese companies the hor-ror of their biggest stories felt more “American” then “Asian”. For me, the pinnacle of the Asian side of horror is represented best in the Fatal Frame Series ( known as Project zero here in Eu-rope) Fatal frame was created by Toei Techmo and unlike most Survival horror games, you are not a capable man in sturdy shoes who gets an expanding arsenal of weapons. No sir, you are a vulnerable person, a person who gets scared, a person who doesn’t even seem to come unscathed out of the ordeal you play them through.

In Resident Evil , the members of S.T.A.R.S. Seem to shrug of the zombies while in Fatal Frame series sets it self apart from this by having mostly young girls or vulnerable women as the main protag-onist, with their only weapon being a Camera that captures ghosts, the Camera Obscura. Unlike other Survival horror stories, in Fatal frame you have only one type of enemy: Ghosts.

Sure there are different types, but they are still the same thing, even though they look different, Some are floating

heads, others are crawling monstrous looking people but in the end they are just ghosts. (just. ghosts.)

Like most horror games, the Fatal Frame games have scenes that make you jump from your seat, but they are rather rare, what the game has to a great extent and other games are lacking a bit are the atmosphere and music. There will be many times when the music will swell up giv-ing you a feeling of tension and the foreboding of something happening, only to have nothing happen at all: the music just made you think there would be something going to happen! And when you are about to save or open that door... BOOM! you get treated to a ghost or even the final boss of the first game , the woman in the Kimono.

What sets this game apart from other games like Resident Evil , is that the lore is rather important. In the first game you play a young girl who goes after her older brother who went after his teacher into a haunted house, in order to discover the truth about the house.

Sure the story is a little cliché and even a little “Holly-wood” but what sets it apart is the atmosphere of the game and the story’s evolution. When we look at the second game, and the focus shifts from just a haunted house to an entire haunted village, where two sisters get trapped in, The story of what happened to he town really sets the game apart from other stories in the horror genre. There are twists and turns along the way that made me gasp for air and say “Oh my god that’s so good!”The endings of the second game has several versions where not all are a “good” or “bad” Ending.

Like I said before , unlike Resident evil where the main char-acters brush off

Page 14: TRIBIC Special Issue: Halloween 2015

14

zombies to fight more of them , not all of the characters get out from their adventure without being scarred by it. In the Third game, you get to play with the girl from the first game again, showing her still a scared and frail woman, even so many years after the events of the first game. The things she’s been through left her damaged, and more realistic; Sure it’s nice to be the total bad ass once in a while but it misses the feeling of actual Fear. What fear is there if you have a grenade launcher that can kill zombies in one shot?

Sure having a lot of them on the screen could help , but real fear is not close by, that fear stays more with you when you are not that total bad ass, but a frail young girl, with just .that one camera. Sure, you can upgrade the camera to make it stronger, but it is still that same camera!

What also makes the Fatal frame games rather terrifying is the fact that while you walk the camera is in third person, when you bring the Camera up you switch first person, and you sometimes have to wait till a ghost is just close enough to hurt or destroy it. This makes the action way more “In your face” than when you see your character do it and watch them over their shoulder, they never really feel like you, whereas in Fatal Frame that moment you bring the Camera up and go first person, it feels like you are really there!

The series is now being developed by both Toei Techmo and Nin-tendo, the later releasing it on Nintendo only consoles, but the first games are on Xbox and PlayStation and are worth a buy or a play-through with an emulator.

As I haven’t played the later games I can’t say much, but the newest game that promises to use the Wii U’s hand held tablet con-troller as the CameraObscura sounds interesting enough to buy a Wii U for, even though it sounds a little Gimmicky.

The game has great potential, one could make a game like that on the mobile with the same aesthetic and make you haunt ghosts and find clues for real.If you have not played any of the games, I would recommend them, put on your Logitech headset and turn off the lights, and be in for a scare!

Happy Halloween!

SPOOKY HALLOWEEN ANIME CORNER

Hola my fellow anime fans! First of all, I would like to thank you for the feedback that was received for the past couple of Anime Corners, you guys loved that different aspect of the Corner! Like most of the magazine, Anime

Corner will change to better itself, to evolve as we have promised to do. But for now, since it’s Halloween, we

will have a look a couple of anime that are either scary or give reference to the Halloween! Trick or Treat?

15

Page 16: TRIBIC Special Issue: Halloween 2015

16

1) Soul Eater: I believe one of the biggest shows that has a lot of references to the Halloween. Not only the entire art itself gives an eerie feel to the anime, but the writers and artists have gone out of their way to ensure this spookiness is always there! For example, the character Blair, a witch that is able to transform into a cat, uses Halloween magic, as she calls it, with her spells always starting with "Pumpkin". To further things up, Blair is actually a reference to the Blair Witch Project! In general, Soul Eater always throws out various and many references to many things, such as Death himself or the monster of Frankenstein, or even the MOON itself laughing in a pretty scary way! Absolutely fantastic show, I would recommend it to anyone!

2) One Piece: Just like with Soul Eater, it’s easy spot the Halloween references in One Piece, once it reaches the Thriller Bark Arc. Not only the entire arc is set to resemble Halloween, but there are also various monsters out there, such as zombies, ghosts and sewn animal-like monsters! To top things off, the entire arc is based on the concept of shadows, making them a direct reference to the famous quote of Halloween. Brook, a very important character in the series, as he later bonds very closely with Luffy, is also a skeleton, making another direct reference to Halloween. As it was the arc right after the Ennies Lobby one, a truly masterpiece, it was feared that Oda-sensei would somehow fail us, but he delivered a roundhouse-kick right in the face, showing his creativity and imagination, taking ideas and characters that he designed YEARS before and bringing them to life in this arc! The only thing we probably didn’t to learn about is whether skeletons can... poop.

3) Hellsing: Halloween is all about all stuff scary and monsters. One of the baddest of those have to be the vampires. Japan loves vampires and many shows have based their story and concept on the blood sucking biters, but let’s face it: if we are talking about a vampire from Japan, it has to be Alucard. Even Dracula himself would shed a tear of pride and joy and allow the red-coated vampire to dwell in his place and bring him a cup of fresh blood for tea-time! How-ever, this is hard to do as Alucard is backwards for Dracula! Nobody really knows who was first, but I would NEVER dare tell that to that guy. Although every Hellsing is worth watching, I would recommend going for the OVAs, you will love them!

Page 17: TRIBIC Special Issue: Halloween 2015

17

4) Pumpkin Scissors: While this series isn’t scary per se, there are various references to Halloween, the most obvious being the war relief platoon the main characters are in, which is also the title of the show: Pumpkin Scissors. Also, the main male protagonist, Corporal Randal Oland was part of a top-secret Anti-Tank Troop, designed to take down tanks, literally on their own: and I saw on their own, I mean each of the soldiers in it was capable of it! While Oland is kind and gentle, when he turns of his lantern, lighting blue fire (direct reference to the Will of the Wisp) he is one big scary dude, that is able to take out a tank. A big bloody tank. Literally guys, I mean a TANK. Against a HUMAN. Solo! Solid Snake style! Best part: he normally does it with a single GUN. Armor piercing bullets all the way! Against a freaking TANK!

5) Digimon: The very popular show actually has quite a lot of references to the Halloween, the most prominent of them coming into the form of Pumpkinmon. The small sized Digimon has a pumpkin for a head and two of his spe-cial attacks consist of Trick or Treat and Jack O’ Lantern.

6) Ghost Hound: While this show does not have any references to Halloween, this series is very spooky, using most-ly psychological ways to inflict fear to the viewer. The Japanese are masters when it comes to terrorizing others and Ghost Hound definitely delivers! I don’t want to give too many details about it, but I will give you a few teases! We have out of the body experiences, many scary ghosts and exorcisms! Definitely a must-watch during Halloween, but keep that Valyrian Sword close by, you never know!

That is all for this special issue’s Anime Corner! Happy Halloween!

What is Community Game Night (CGN)

Well, simply put it’s a gaming night designed to get the community together so we can all game and have fun together. It originally started a couple years back when Timothy Rhyne and I would host Battlefield 4 gaming nights. We each had a designated time slot and every week, we would play in a certain server and try and get people from the Gaming Tribe community to come and join us. Some of

the CGN’s where even hosted on the Gaming Tribe twitch.

Fast forward to present and CGN now takes place with myself currently hosting a #DirtyCGN on Wednesday nights from 8-10PM here in the UK. When it first started we played Left 4 Dead 2 and even Borderlands 2, now it has evolved and you can find a fair few of us playing Dirty Bomb and chatting it up on TS3. The reason I ultimately decided to go with Dirty Bomb is that it is a F2P (Free 2 Play) game and anyone with a computer capable of running it can download it VIA the Steam client. This has gone over greatly and we have seen up to 8 people in the same server at one all from Gaming Tribe.

As mentioned, there is a TeamSpeak 3 (TS3) server that we use which is currently hosted by Community Volunteer Barry Ma-son on his own home network. The TS3 server is not just for CGN’s though, oh no! The TS3 server is designed to be a place that no matter the time, if you want to game and are looking for someone to play with, you can pop on and there is normal-ly a few people in various games that you can hop in with, or, have a good chat. For those looking to access this lovely TS3 server, the details are Address: server.gtribets.ml:10985 Password: GTRAWKS. Once connected you will find different rooms/channels you can connect to depending on which game you are playing.

Future plans for Community Gaming Night

At the moment, Timothy Rhyne, John Schmeltzer and I are currently working on a set of guidelines and useful tips to help get more people involved in hosting their own CGN. This guide will include a list of F2P games, information on setting up a stream and a few basic ground rules for setting up a CGN. While this is all done in good fun and we do understand things happen, we are looking to get people to host their own CGN on a regular basis and get a set schedule. Once we have a few CGN’s going, we will also be making a calendar of some sort that will include all the various CGN’s, what games will be played when and who to contact if you want to join in. Again, while we are setting up a guideline, this is all in fun so nothing is set in stone. If you can’t make a CGN or are no longer interested in hosting one, or want to switch games, just get in contact and we will work something out. This is designed to be fun and not seem like work and Timothy, John and I are always here to help.

While we are still working out some of the finer details, if you have a game you would like to host for CGN and are able to do it on a semi-regular schedule, please contact myself (Ben Enos: https://www.gamingtribe.com/profile/TheEnos) and I will help get you set up. We really just want this to be a fun way for people to game together and speaking personally, I only have a certain set time for gaming most weeks, so this is a good way to know what’s going on when and who I can play with. Also feel free to get in touch with me if you have any other comments, questions or maybe just want to join me in a game of Dirty Bomb.

Old But GoldThe DevilInsideby

Mark Krijgsman

and all other supernatural beasties roam the halls and out-side of the house. It is up to Dave and Deva to find out what happened and stop it. Talk about original.

What makes the game unique for the time was the fact that you were being followed by a flying camera and a camera man and you could freely switch between either the flying cam or cam-era man for the angle in which you were playing. Subsequently if you were a total evil bastard you could shoot the camera man, resulting in a game over.

Now the Camera angle was nice.....but took away a lot of the tension that marked the other survival horror games of the 2000’s , namely tension.Who doesn’t remember hearing those zombie footsteps some-where whereyou could not see the zombie yet ...and then it grabbed you and sunk his teeth in you?! Here the camera man has his own set of walking sounds that are constantly heard and thus taking away the tension and the sweaty palms of hearing footsteps that are not your own in an empty curved hallway as the cameraman’s footsteps are always there, same as the flying camera’s helicopter sound.

The game also from time to time has the Devil, the host of the show, come through and commend you on a great kill or cheer when Deva comes out to play , with an audience track present to cheer you on that also cuts the tension like a chain saw cutting bread.

Ah yes, year 2000: the millennium bug did not happen and reality TV was a new and an exciting concept. Resident Evil had been out for 4 years already but was still making other game developers look at it and think “We want some of that too.”But there lay the problem after the names of Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark, how do you make a survival horror game feel new and unique ?

Well why not use that new interesting concept that is reality television and toss it in game? And before you go thinking, no, this is not a horror version of the Sims. The Devil Inside is a game that revolves around a reality TV show with the same name of the game. This TV show deals with the supernatural ( so basically it was a real ghost/monster hunting reality TV show before they even existed)You step in the shoes of two characters that are basically the same person Dave and Deva...

Dave is a police officer, possessed by the succubus demon Deva ( seriously that name is just silly, but fits with the b-movie aesthetics of the game) and you are in the titular TV show, hosted by the Devil himself, Making the title of the game work on many different levels. The Devil is inside the TV.... Dave has a devil, Deva inside him, and the TV show is called that.

But enough with all the steepness!

The story places with Dave and Deva in the show and are going to a mansion where all hell has broken loose. Zombies, demons

The devil insideCryo interactive entertainment (2000 (pc)

Page 21: TRIBIC Special Issue: Halloween 2015

21

What is nice is that when you are playing the game the game sometimes snaps to a nearby helicopter and shows you a Bird-seye view , mostly in a movie format.

As far as the graphics go... The game is like the main pro-tagonist Dave as he has two things under his hood. The sur-rounding places you play in looked (for that time)amazing and were cited as realistic. But the character models...were ugly even for a game in 2000 and that takes away some of the fun in the game while also enhancing that feeling of going somewhere you have never been before and looking at the interesting surroundings while you get attacked.

What makes the game qualified for this section is simple. The gameplay is challenging, but easy to learn but the game could get quite unforgiving with some boss battles that amped up the tension.

Dave has a lot of guns he can find and use on all the nasties in the house. while Deva the Demon has spells which require mana that slow-ly recharges (And by slow I mean slow as a snail.) Luckily In Dave’s body you can shoot enemies and sometimes they drop souls that you can pick up to replenish Deva her mana , Also when Deva is almost dead, all you have to do was find some fire stand in that stuff and her health will go back up. The switching between Dave and Deva is not something you can do all the time, you have to find pentagram pedestals and places where you can switch from Dave into Deva.

The bosses can get rather silly, there is a guy in a flying chair with guns to the side (just like Gat out of hell but 15 years earlier) that is just too silly. The monsters luck-ily are all ugly but still great for monsters, Zombies look dirty and scary and even menacing, while demons can be small and frustrating as hell or tall and hard as freaking hell to take down .

What makes the game so good , besides the finicky control scheme that you will get used to, is that this game tried something new different to the survival horror genre when it was not that new but it was fairly popular, not wanting to thread into paths the likes of Silent Hill, and Resident Evil. The game takes an angle of something that would become big booming business later in the 2000’s reality TV and place it in a game.

And now to the nifty gritty of it all.

The rating , like always 1g is not so good and 5 g is being great.

story- 3G out of 5The story is nothing to write home about, but the inclusion of the reality TV show before that thing was big and a nice touch. Also the male/female counter parts feel a little contrived and forced the game would have been just as good with either Dave or Deva. Also the names are just ...lazy. Sure Dave is not a much heard name in games for a protagonist but to make the female coun-terpart called Deva..sorry but that won’t fly with me.

Graphics-3G out of 5

Like i said the game has a Dave?Deva propblem the surrounding area’s and the set pieces look good, the character models on the otherhand do not wich sets this game dab square in the middle of the rating, on just that average number of 3 were the player models better then thegame would have scored higher here as the set pieces , they look still good in that new modern retro kind of way.

Gameplay/difficulty -3G out of 5

Once again the camera angle switches , manually and to the helicopter for movies are nicely done, but it still doesn’t help the game from feeling a little unpolished and rough around the edges

Replayability-1G out of 5

I picked this game for the Halloween issue for the Halloween

factor replayability, there is not much to do when you’re done with the game except in a higher difficulty. But that is the only replay value I found, placing this game in the same niche as those bad horror movies you watch on Halloween, the guilty pleasure, that’s only fun that one time a year.

Originality-4G out of 5

This is the saving grace for the game , and that only due to the reality life broadcast TV angle this game has. Sure the cameraman you have behind you takes away some of the scares but does not nullify them. Also the camera switching is well implemented and works good in this game

This leaves The Devil Inside at a 3g (rounded up from a 2,8) out of 5

Final verdict.

This game should get a remake, better polished with better controls and graphics and this game could be a scream stream favorite , and a nice back track to the Survival horrors of the 90’s and 2000’s.

THE FINAL BRAKEDOWNTOTAL

PC ModingThe Hallow Mod

by Gerasimos Koronaios

T h e H a l l o w M o dHow to turn your OEM case to a spooktacular custom beast!

Enjoy!

First of all a little introduction. I was ordered by our editor to make a mod for Halloween as I was struggling to find what to do for the special issue. And then BAM! My old Pentium III jumped under the bed in front of me like a creep, like a ghost from the past! Using

my gaming skills, I bravely knocked it down and took it to the bench for some modding!.

The case that was tortured is not the original case of the PC I had, but an OEM case that I purchased years ago alongside a 500W PSU. The real horror of this build is having to manage the cables, since you need an extension to

reach the lowest HDD slot and the system has IDE connections.

Step one!Remove all the components and cables form the case.

Step two!Apply masking tape to protect the surfaces that you want to keep unpainted and spray paint (mainly black) on the top of the case. Now apply orange paint (all kind of splashes and patterns are good for this), continue with black splashes and stuff without paying attention on the paint manual XD. Repeat harder on the front of the case without regrets the clumsier it gets the better and that’s why I don’t recommend any paint preparations like sanding, primer etc. Let it dry!

Step three!Cover the left door with tape and draw the outline of a pumpkin lantern (or whatever you want! Use your imagina-tion!). After drawing your theme you have to figure witch part will be cut and which on will not (note that you have to leave some uncut “bars” just like a stencil if you go for something like I have done.

Step four!Prepare yourself for lots of sparks and dust and for your own safety don’t follow my work style (use gloves, glasses etc!). Go to your bench and use your Dremel or any brand you have (if it has a telescopic extension like the one I use it helps a lot) power tool loaded with cutting disk for metal and carefully cut the shapes you have decided to cut.Now you are done and yes you can take lot of pictures you little poser!

Stepfive!Since the cutting disk leaves lot of rough edges on complicate shapes like this, load your little devil with a grind-ing head and clean the shape. Now you just have to remove the tape, clean it and repeat step two on it!Well done GJ!

Step six! There’s no life without light you little modder, so grab a meter of green led strip from your local electronics store and stick it in! In my case I had kept an old a blinking green led kit and I made a little effect to my pumpkin “window”.

Step seven!Put the components back in and ta dam you have a spooktacular rig!

Some non pro tips! It’s good to put some Plexiglas behind the cut and glue it or screw it on the door. Unfortunatly I have run out Plexiglas so for now there’s a hole. Follow the spray instructions unless you want to make something different.Clean with some alcohol the surface before you put the led strip on.

I won’t say anything about the custom switch panel and the tribal behind the front door because it’s a very old mod and I really don’t remember what I have done.

Thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed it!

HalloweenTRIBICPCConfigurations

Since this is a special issue of TRIBIC we need some special configurations. Once again we will have two gaming configs, one more budget friendly small PC that

Could and one a bit more expensive, a larger PC that Would.

Don’t let the names fool you, the presence of those configs is quite scary. Both are capable of full Windows 10 and DirectX 12 feature level 12

support.

First we have The 700$ PC that Could.

Case: Fractal Design Core 1100 Black

Processor: Intel Core i3-4160 (3.60GHz, 54 W, LGA 1150) Box

Motherboard: Asrock B85M-DGS

Memory: DDR3 8GB (1x8GB) Kingston, HyperX Fury, 1866MHz

Disk drive: Kingston SSD 240GB HyperX Fury

Power supply: XFX Core Pro Edition 80+ 450W PSU

Graphics: Gigabyte GTX950 WF2 Overclocked, 2GB GDDR5

The Intel Core i3 was chosen for a single reason – it’s the cheapest Intel CPU recommended for gaming and it’s a choice for current and next gen titles.

For the motherboard, the Asrock B85M-DGS was chosen. It’s an In-tel LGA1150 board cheaper than 80$ USD on most markets; it’s got everything most people need and it supports Haswell and Broadwell CPU-s in the i3-i5-i7 range.

The choice of the GPU fell on the nVidia GTX 950, a newly released card that has just the right amount of power for 1080p but does not break the cash barrier. The gigabyte one is properly cooled, quiet and looks nice.

With the RAM we will go with the Kingston HyperX Fury Black 1866 MHz DDR3, a single 8 GB stick. The RAM should come at below 80$ too.

For the Hard Drive, a 240GB SSD drive from Kingston has been cho-sen. It offers a good price/performance ratio and decent quality paired with SSD SATA-III speeds.

The Fractal Design Core 1100 Black case looks decent, features good build quality and enough room for the mentioned parts.

The choice of the PSU fell on the XFX Core 450W unit. More than enough for the build, enables good cable management and the most important part – it runs quiet + it has 5 years warranty.

The optical disk drive needs no mention; it’s not included - peo-ple don’t even need one nowadays.

Second comes the 1400$ machine that Would.

Case: Fractal Design Core 3300 Black

Processor: Intel Core i5-6500 3.20GHz Box

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 s1151

Memory: DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) Kingston HyperX, 2133MHz

Disk drive: Samsung 500GB 850 Series Basic

Power supply: XFX Core Edition 80+ 650W PSU

Graphics: Gigabyte GTX970 WF3 OC 4GB GDDR5

The i5 6500 Skylake CPU was chosen because it supports DDR4 mem-ory and all the new technology. Important to mention – this one is not unlocked, so no overclocking in sight.

The choice of the motherboard falls on the Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3. It’s a decent motherboard for the i5 CPU, has good built-in fea-tures and looks nice – fits the color scheme of the build.

With the ram, we’ll go with 16 gigabytes of the Kingston HyperX 2133 MHz ddr4. It’s amongst the cheapest ddr4 RAM but has good quality and performance and it’s black so it complements the motherboard and the rest quite nicely.

For the OS, the games and the storage we have a 500 GB fast SSD drive. And it’s black, offers a long warranty and should be suf-ficient for most users searching for good price/performance ratio when it comes to SSD storage.

This system requires a fair bit of power, so a XFX Core 650W PSU unit is here for the task. The color scheme was also considered, it does not ruin the looks of the build.

For the case, the choice fell on a Fractal Design Core 3300 Black case which is a big brother to the Core 1100 from the 700$ pc that could.

And at the end, but not the least important, is a Gigabyte GTX 970 WindForce3 graphics card. And you guessed it, it’s a big brother to the Gigabyte GTX 950 WF2.

Hope you like the builds. Happy Halloween!

TRIBIC goes one step ahead to thank the Gaming Tribe Community by offering a game give-away, hosted by Erwin Thierry Klein Haneveld!

However, we decided to make things fair by selecting from a very specific pool of peo-ple! All those who helped Erwin with his list will be eligible for a win! And the very reason we decided to do this and not tell anyone about it, is because for our first

giveaway we wanted it to be special and to thank those who did give feedback and help the magazine! What games will be given away and how will they be distributed will be

posted soon on Gaming Tribe.Winners will be announced on TRIBIC Issue 5, coming late November! Keep in touch!
