Schedule
Event FactsKitzbühel, Austria will host the 2008 ITU Corporate Triathlon World Championships from July 16th to 20th, 2008. Corporate employees from around the world will compete for the title of top triathlon company. The ITU Corporate Triathlon World Championships will also include a Sports for Life symposium with some of the industry’s top speakers and experts advising on an active lifestyle and healthy living in the corporate environment.
The event will be part of a week long triathlon festival including the Kitzbühel BG Triathlon World Cup. Several hundred corporate sports enthusiasts are expected to arrive in Kitzbühel, the „sports centre of the Alps“ for a week of training and scintillating races. “Kitzbühel has a long history of hosting top international sporting events. With its abundance of natural beauty, it is the perfect setting for the second edition of these championships,” said Loreen Barnett, Executive Director of the ITU. “We plan to provide a team building and competitive environment where participants from around the world will gain knowledge on training and healthy living that they can apply in their personal and professional lives.” The Corporate World Championships will be a team event consisting of three people who will each complete a “mini-triathlon” (400 m swim, 12 km bike, 3,5 km run) in a relay format. All three members of the team must be full-time employees of a corporation, business, association or organisation. The combined team time will determine the order of finish. Nestled in the majestic Austrian Alps, Kitzbühel was built in the middle ages and much of the history is still alive in many of the small restaurants and shops. The city has previously hosted two successful ITU triathlon events, including last year’s BG Triathlon World Cup and relishes the opportunity to offer a wider spectrum of sports for enthusiasts and spectators to enjoy.
