Triangle and its properties- By Malvika Koushik- 7B1Contents...Today we will be looking into the following topics:- Introduction Types of triangles:-1.) Equilateral triangle2.) Isosceles triangle3.) Scalene triangle Triangle and its properties:-1.) Angle sum property2.) Median & Altitude3.) Sum of two sides of a triangle4.) Pythagoras Theorem 2Introduction A triangleis a polygonwith threeedgesand threevertices. A triangle with vertices A,B and C is denoted as ABC The sum of all the angles in any type of triangle is 180 degrees.

3Types of Triangles3 Types of Triangles are:-1.) Equilateral triangles All angles are equal2.) Isosceles triangles 2 angles & sides are equal3.) Scalene triangles All angles are unequal4.) Acute angled triangle All angles are acute angles5.) Right angled triangle One of the 3 angles is a right angle6.) Obtuse angled triangle One of the 3 angles is an obtuse angle4Equilateral Triangle A type of triangle in which all 3 sides are equal.. All angles will be at 60 degrees If A , B , C are sides of a triangle and it is an equilateral triangle :- A=B=C

5Isosceles Triangles An isosceles triangle is atrianglewith two equal sides. If A, B and C are sides of a triangle and if it is an isosceles triangle, any two sides will be equal The sides angles will be also equal

6Scalene Triangle In this type of triangle all 3 sides are not equal If A, B and C are sides of a triangle and the triangle is a scalene triangle then all 3 sides will be unequal A B C

7Triangles and its propertiesWe will be looking at the following properties of a triangle:-1.) Angle sum property

2.) Median & Altitude

3.) Sum of two sides of a triangle

4.) Pythagoras Theorem 81.) Angle Sum Propertythe basic property of any triangle is that all the angles sum up to 180 degrees Angle A + Angle B + Angle C = 180

92.) Median & AltitudeMedian:-median is a line segment joining a vertex of a triangle to the mid point of the opposite side A triangle always has 3 medians the point of intersection is known as CentroidAltitude:-A perpendicular line segment from the vertex of a triangle to its opposite sideA triangle has 3 altitudesThe point of intersection is called Orthocenter

103.) Sum of two sides of a triangle in any type of triangle, sum of the lenghts of any two sides will be always greater than the third side.

the sum is equal to or less than the third side.

Side A + Side B > Side C Side B + Side C > Side A Side A+ Side C> Side B114.) Pythagoras Theorem In a right angled triangle the square of the hypotenuse= to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.. The longest side of a triangle is called the Hypotenuse. The other 2 sides of the triangle is referred to as the legs of the triangle. The formula for this is:-

a2+ b2= c2
