INTRODUCTORY NOTE TO THE DOCUMENT VOLUMES

This series of volumes contains reprints of the documents admitted as evidence during the Trial before the International Military Tribunal. All English, French, or German documents are reproduced here in their original language. Documents originally in Russian appear in English or German translation. Any document not originally in one of these four languages is hi principle published in the language in which it was introduced in Court. The selection of documents or parts of documents for publication is based on recommendations made by the four Prosecutions and the Defense in accordance with an order by the Tribunal. In most cases the reproduction in these volumes has been made from the original document; exceptions are in each case indicated in the Explanatory Note. All documents are given in full, unless otherwise stated, and care has been taken to make the reproduction faithful in all respects. Grammatical, orthographical, typing, and other errors in the original have not been corrected; marginal notes, rubber stamp impressions and other markings have been included. All documents are arranged in the order of their document numbers within each alphabetical group. The PS numbers form the largest group and have therefore been placed first; the other groups presented by the Prosecution follow in alphabetical order. Then come the documents presented on behalf of the individual defendants in the alphabetical order of the defendants' names, and lastly those presented on behalf of the organizations, also in alphabetical order.
