Brethren,

As masons, we understand that life is a journey on a rugged road beset with challenges. Overcoming these challenges require an understanding of how to live our lives in every stage as upright men and as masons. We understand that in youth we gather knowledge that will enable us in manhood to perform our respective duties, so that we may later look back at our lives and rest assured that we have lived well. We must always remember and apply these enlightening lessons in masonry as they take on a different character in every situation.

In a similar way, we can think of a masonic year as one lifetime on the collective level of our lodge constituents. We spent the first two quarters of this year building our lodge, learning ritual, performing degrees and bringing in new members. Morale is very high and new members are eager to receive more light, participate in all activities, and contribute their efforts in all our endeavors. June is the culmination of the youth of our lodge and the beginning of manhood when we start reaping the benefits of what we’ve learned and apply our collective efforts, fortified by our young masons. We can begin to perform the rest of the duties of our lodge when we come out of the dark of summer and back into the light when we start meeting again in the fall. Let us do our duties well, execute our plans and plan to finish the year together with the same rigor, purpose and resolve as in the earlier months of this masonic year. So that by year’s end, we may look back at what we have done (what we’re doing now and are about to achieve), and be satisfied of a job well done, a life well-lived.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Ernie Somera, Worshipful Master

Brethren,

As we begin the Summer Season, the Lodge is on the edge of a new Era. This Summer will see a historic moment, when at least 13 members will be raised to Master Mason in one day. This great class of the Summer of 2017, will signal a great shift in the Lodge. Most likely when the Fall meetings resume, there will be many more newer members at Lodge then more seasoned Brothers. It will be incumbent on all of us to integrate as smoothly as possible all these new Brothers. We will be responsible for teaching, mentoring, and becoming a Family. We will be most likely one of the most diverse Lodges in New Jersey. Also, in terms of length of membership time, one of the youngest. It is a proud accomplishment in what will has occurred here in Hightstown-Apollo #41. But this will present new challenges also. It will be important for us all to pull together, for we can accomplish great work, and grow as Masons and a Masonic family together.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Brother Joe Kahn, Junior Warden

Grand Lodge and other Announcements:

My Dear Brothers,

In 2017, New Jersey Freemasonry will be celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Grand Lodge of England. One of the widely anticipated events will be a gala dinner to be held on September 17th at Liberty House in Jersey City which overlooks the Freedom Tower, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. In preparation of that commemorative event, we are soliciting advertisements for an ad book that will be published and widely distributed for the Gala Dinner.

Proceeds from the ad book will go towards supporting one of our principal charities which is the construction of the US Coast Guard Memorial to be erected at the Coast Guard Base in Cape May, New Jersey. Our role in supporting this much needed and long overdue memorial requires collective support.

The ads for the booklet will be full page only and the donation for the ad is $150. Checks for your tax deductible donation made payable to the Masonic Charity Foundation of New Jersey and MUST be mailed to Michael Neuberger, 28 Ormont Road, Chatham, NJ 07928. Please include a notation on your check that reads Coast Guard Memorial. All artwork (PDFs or jpg files) for your ad should be sent to [email protected]

With fraternal thanks and regards,

M.W. Dieter B. Hees Grand Master
