AdaptationsI would first use more images of the White House, Capitol Building, and Supreme Court for visual learners

I think that it would be helpful to use Google Maps too as a way to provide both visual images but also a spatial representation of the three branches of government to help Spatial Learners

AdaptationsThe Smartboard lesson currently has a lot of things for students to click on but it seems to be more text about each branch for audio and musical learners I’d like to use some videos or even songs to explain the branches instead of always having them read

AdaptationsI would add in interactive games with that can be played on the Smartboard, this would benefit interpersonal learners as well as engaged kinesthetic learners who need movement to learn.

These would be relay games where students would run up to the board and drag each power or check and balance to the correct branch of government. Students would be able to collaborate allowing other students to help ESL students and students with disabilities to still participate should they need assistance

AdaptationsFor Gifted Students they can do independent research on how the checks and balances have changed (I.E. War Powers Act disputes) or write about aspects of government that could use additional checks and balances (I.E. how Congress can raise it’s own salary)

For Students with Special Needs I would set attainable goals for each student making sure that they get the most important information from the lesson. I would provide assistive technology so blind or deaf students could at least be described or read a close caption of the pictures and videos that I’m showing. I’d make sure too to provide technology or assistance to take notes as well

For ESL students we would use images and videos which will add visuals so they don’t have to rely solely on spoken English to learn. I will also utilize group work in our games throughout which helps ESL students to learn through the actions of their classmates

How Does Lesson Plan Utilize UDLI feel I did a good job of planning this lesson to adapt to the various different multiple intelligences and learning modalities that will exist in my classroom. I address interpersonal, linguistic, kinesthetic, spatial, and musical learners.

I also have specific adaptations for the different types of students I might have like who are blind, deaf, have a mental or physical disability, are an ESL learner, or a gifted learner.
