To find out if text messaging habits positively affected English literacy of pre-teens, adolescents, and young adults.
678 subjects were tapped, ages 11-25 and their text-messaging habits surveyed
A writing task was given and responses were graded against a 6-point rubric based on comprehension, vocabulary, mechanics, grammar, etc.

Libraries have reported circulation from books falling 25 percent with those of audiovisuals doubling over a ten-year period (Bauerlein, 2008 p. 97)
