Potential Hlth Effect/Rte of Entry: ----------------------------------- Inhalation: Can cause irritation to respiratory system. Eyes: Can cause irritation. Ingestion: Can cause gastrointestinal irritation. Skin: May cause slight irritation.

Aggravated Medical Conditions: Pre-existing eye, skin, and respiratory disorders may be aggravated by exposure.Acute Health Effects: See effects described above.Chronic Health Effects: Inhalation of crystalline silica (quartz) can cause cancer based on animal data, and IARC concludes sufficient evidence in humans (Group 1). Prolonged and repeated overexposure to free crystalline silica dust above the TLV level may cause scarring of the lungs with cough and shortness of breath. A delayed lung injury, silicosis may result from breathing free silica. No serious health effects have been established in man when exposed to carbon black. Inflammation, lung fibrosis, and tumors have been observed in animals at levels which overload lung clearance mechanisms. Carbon black contains varying amounts of polynuclear aromatic compounds(PNA's) which have been found to cause cancer in animals. Solvent extracts of carbon black are carcinogenic to the skin of mice. It is classified by IARC to be a known animal carcinogen and a possible human carcinogen (Group 2B). Fillers are encapsulated and not expected to be released from product under normal conditions of use.

Inhalation: Can cause headache, dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, stupor, irritation to respiratory system. Eyes: Can cause severe irritation. Ingestion: Can cause gastrointestinal irritation. Skin: Can cause irritation, possible dermal sensitization. Methyl Ethyl Ketoxime may be absorbed through the skin.

Aggravated Medical Conditions: Pre-existing eye, skin and respiratory disorders may be aggravated by exposure.

Acute Health Effects: See effects described above.

Chronic Health Effects: During cure, up to 2% Methyl Ethyl Ketoxime (MEKO) may be released. MEKO has caused allergic skin reactions and liver tumors in animals. Overexposure to MEKO may cause blood effects (methemoglobinemia and anemia). However, due to the extremely low vapor pressure of MEKO (<8mm Hg @ 68F), release of high airborne concentration is not expected under normal conditions of use. No serious health effects have been established in man when exposed to carbon black. Inflammation, lung fibrosis, and tumors have been observed in animals at levels which overload lung clearance mechanisms. Carbon black contains varying amounts of polynuclear aromatic compounds (PNA's) which have been found to cause cancer in animals. Solvent extracts of carbon black are carcinogenic to the skin of mice. It is classified by IARC to be a known animal carcinogen and a possible human carcinogen (Group 2B). Inhalation of crystalline silica (quartz) can cause cancer based on animal data, and IARC concludes sufficient evidence in humans (Group 1). Prolonged and repeated overexposure to crystalline silica dust above the TLV level may cause scarring of the lungs with cough and shortness of breath. A delayed lung injury, silicosis may result from breathing free silica. Fillers are encapsulated and not expected to be released from product under normal conditions of use.

----------------------------------- Inhalation: Can cause headache, dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, stupor, irritation to respiratory system. Eyes: Can cause irritation. Ingestion: Can cause gastrointestinal irritation. Skin: Can cause irritation.

Aggravated Medical Conditions: Pre-existing eye, skin, respiratory, and liver disorders may be aggravated by exposure.

However, due to the extremely low vapor pressure of MEKO (<8mm Hg @20C), release of high airborne concentrations is not expected under normal conditions of use. Prolonged or repeated exposure (orally or by inhalation) of the plasticizer to rats produced decreased body weights, spleen and sex organ changes, increased liver and kidney weights, reduced food consumption, and effects on the liver, testes and pancreas. Birth defects have been reported in mice and rats at dose levels of the plasticizer that produce significant toxicity in the mother and offspring. However, birth defects have not been observed in rabbits. Evidence of the carcinogenicity of the plasticizer has been mixed. An initial NTP study of the effects of the plasticizer has reported an increased incidence of mononuclear cell leukemias in female rats, a commonly occuring spontaneous disease in this strain, but no increase in tumors in mice. However, a repeat study has not found an increase in leukemias, although an increase in kidney and bladder lesions in females and in pancreatic tumors in males was noted. Furthermore, a concurrent study that restricted diet also has not revealed any increase in tumors in male and female rats. Numerous studies also have indicated that the plasticizer is not genotoxic.

No serious health effects have been established in man when exposed to carbon black but inflammation, lung fibrosis, and lung tumors have been observed in animals at levels which overload lung clearance mechanisms. Carbon black contains varying amounts of of polynuclear aromatic compounds (PNA's) which have been found to cause cancer in animals. Solvent extracts of carbon black are carcinogenic to the skin of mice. Carbon black is classified by IARC to be a known animal carcinogen and a possible human carcinogen (Group 2B). Fillers are encapsulated and not expected to be released from product under normal conditions of use.

EIFSSpectrem 4-TS

Product Description:Spectrem 4-TS is a multi-compo-nent, neutral-curing, non-staining, low dirt pick up, low-modulus sili-cone sealant specially formulated for use in dynamically moving building joints with +/- 50% move-ment.

Basic Uses:Spectrem 4-TS offers excellent per-formance in moving joints for both new construction and renovation projects. Spectrem 4-TS is the only silicone available offering color flexibility, with the opportunity to tint the material on site. Spectrem 4-TS does not require a primer on most construction materials and exhibits tenacious adhesion once fully cured. Typical applications for Spectrem 4-TS include: EIFS, expan-sion and control joints, tilt-up panel joints, precast concrete panel joints, perimeter caulking (windows, door, panels), etc.

Limitations:• Do not apply over damp or contaminated surfaces.• Not intended for continuous water immersion.

Packaging:1-1/2 gallon (5.7 L) kits that requires a separate color pack (pig-ment) to be added.

Standard Colors:Spectrem 4-TS is available in 53 standard colors and can be custom matched to virtually any color upon request.

Applicable Standards:Conforms to ASTM C920, Type M, Grade NS, Class 50, Use NT, G, M, A and O; U.S. Federal Specification TT-S-00230, Class A; U.S. Federal Specification TT-S-001543A Class A and Canadian Standard CAN/CGSB-19.13-M87, EIMA Test Method 300.01 and ASTM C1382.

INSTALLATIONJoint Design:May be used in any vertical or hori-zontal joint design in accordance with accepted architectural/engi-neering practice. Joint width should be 4-times anticipated movement, but not less than 1/4 inch (6.4mm) wide.

Dimensions:For joint 1/4 inch (6.4mm) to 1/2 inch (12.7mm) wide, the width to depth ratio should be equal. Joints 1/2 inch (12.7mm) wide or greater should have a sealant depth of 1/2 inch (12.7mm). Minimum joint size is 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch (6.4mm by 6.4mm).

Surface Preparation:For good adhesion, the joint inter-face must be sound, clean and dry. Depending on the substrate, or presence of form release agents, masonry waterproofing, dust, loose mortar or laitance, architectural paints or finishes, the joint surface may require a thorough wire brush-

ing, grinding, sandblasting, solvent washing and/or primer.

Tooling & Cleaning:Tooling is recommended immedi-ately after application to insure firm, intimate contact with the joint interface. Dry tooling is pre-ferred, although tooling agents can be utilized. Excess sealant and smears adjacent to the joint can be removed with Xylol or Toluol before sealant cures.

Joint BackingBond Breaking Tape:Closed cell polyethylene backer rods are preferred as joint backing to control depth of sealant bead. Where depth of joint will prevent use of joint backing, an adhesive backed polyethylene tape should be installed to prevent three-sided adhesion. Joint backing must be dry at time of sealant application.

Field-Tintable Silicone Sealant

Spectrem® 4-TS

Application:Mix in accordance with directions on the product container label. Mixing should continue until the desired uniform color is reached. Apply with conventional caulking equipment, filling the joint com-pletely and tool.

Maintenance:Damaged sealant can be repaired. Consult your Tremco Field Representative or Distributor for repair procedures.

Availability:Available from your local Tremco Field Representative, Tremco Distributor or Tremco Warehouse.

has caused allergic skin reactions and liver tumors in animals. Overexposure to MEKO may cause blood effects (methemoglobinemia and anemia).

Aggravated Mediccal Conditions: Pre-existing eye, skin and respiratory disorders may be aggravated by exposure.

However, due to the extremely low vapor pressure of MEKO (<8mm Hg at 68F), release of high airborne concentration is not expected under normal conditions of use. Inhalation of crystalline silica (quartz) can cause cancer based on animal data, and IARC concludes sufficient evidence in humans (Group 1). Fillers are encapsulated and not expected to be released from product under normal conditions of use.
