m WHY TREE TRUST’S COMMUNITY FORESTRY PROGRAM? From Minneapolis/St. Paul to the suburbs to rural Minnesota, we’ve left
lasting environmental improvements in parks, nature areas, schools,
and neighborhoods for 35
years. Through education
and hands-on activities,
our certified arborists show
citizens they can make a
difference. A variety of
projects can be completed
and sustained – and your
organization can feel good
about giving residents an
opportunity to improve their
own community.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION & TRAINING
We teach about the benefits of trees and proper planting techniques, care and maintenance.
We help citizens develop a connection to and appreciation for trees. Through our workshops, they become informed advocates who are committed to protecting and preserving the urban tree canopy.
Specialized training is provided to those who wish to work with us as Tree Trainers, helping to ensure proper planting techniques are followed during planting events.
“I wanted to thank all of you who helped make our tree planting a success. You put everything together nicely and were very helpful and easy to work with. I hope we get the chance to work with Tree Trust on another tree planting in the future!”

COMMUNITY TREE PLANTINGS & VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
Every year we recruit, organize and train hundreds of volunteers to plant trees in parks and recreation areas throughout the Twin Cities.
Our landscape designers assist with species selection and tree placement, and members of our job training program prepare the site prior to the planting. The involvement of local volunteers in the planting of trees showcases the positive impact humans can have on the environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION
Our Learning with Trees program has brought environmental learning to over 170 schools throughout Minnesota. We help students and teachers create outdoor classrooms and transform their grounds into living laboratories for environmental learning. Students participate in hands-on activities and learn about their natural environment. And teachers receive tools to make environmental education a regular part of their curriculum.
MUNICIPAL TREE DISTRIBUTIONS
We provide turn-key tree distribution programs for cities within the metro area.
We help with species selection, take orders from residents, collect payments, provide educational materials and facilitate the distribution of trees.
This program is an innovative way to increase a city’s tree canopy without increasing their long-term maintenance costs.
