Mr. John Gong has worked for several major financial institutions, including Citibank, N.A. Singapore, where he was an investment manager in the investment advisory and investment management unit, Peregrine Investment Holdings, UBS, (as an associate director), Merrill Lynch International Bank (as a vice president) and head of investments at Allied Capital Management. He was employed upon graduation as a management associate at Citibank in 1988, where he was responsible for asset allocation and strategic investment input to the banks’ Investment Policy Committee. He started the Asian Discretionary Portfolio for Citibank clients (AD) which invest funds in the Asian equity markets. Mr. Gong graduated from Washington State University, Washington, U.S.A., in 1986 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a concentration in finance at the age of 19. He has been a guest speaker at the National University of Singapore. Mr Gong qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1992, and is a Life Member of the American Association of Individual Investors (USA), Life member of Computerized Investing (USA), and was, and Member of Chartered Financial Analysts Institute. John had been involved in over 50 public offerings in the capital markets. In addition, he has been advisor to several large public companies and banks in Indonesia (including being advisor to major Japanese conglomerates such as Mitsui and Marubeni). In 1997, during the Asian financial crisis, where many Indonesian companies were badly affected because most had large offshore US$ borrowings, John was appointed together with Ernst and Young (one of the big four accounting firms in the world) to work on the restructuring of many of these “bankrupt” companies under the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA) which held about US$80 billion in assets. John has extensive network of contacts in this industry, built up over the many years, including other investment banks, investment funds, audit / accounting firms, lawyers, investment advisors, investor relations firms, corporate finance and private equity companies.
