Franklin Primary Health Center, Inc. proudly announces the association of Dr. Amrita Yearwood as an internal medicine specialist at Franklin’s Evergreen Family Health Center located at 100 Edwina Street in Evergreen, Alabama, where Dr. Yearwood has practiced for the last 20 years. Born in Guyana, South America, Dr. Yearwood is the first and only medical doctor in her family. She graduated from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Pre-med. She then earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and completed her residency at Brooklyn Hospital in New York. Dr. Yearwood is a member of the American Medical Association and has practiced medicine in Conecuh County for over 20 years. She is well-known by the citizens of Evergreen and surrounding communities for the care and treatment she provides to her patients. “I am very passionate about helping people, especially those who are underserved,” stated Dr. Yearwood. “I love interacting with patients and doing whatever I can to help them. It is my purpose.” Mr. Charles White, Franklin’s CEO, says, “He is proud to welcome Dr. Yearwood aboard because her philosophy, personality, and style of practice align perfectly with our mission of providing compassionate accessible quality health care to everyone no matter who they are or what they have.” According to Mr. White, Franklin’s center located at 316 South Main Street in Evergreen will still be operable, but will be providing supportive clinical services. The new Franklin Evergreen Center is currently being renovated and will open its doors for business again on July 2, 2018. The center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.— 5:00 p.m. Dr. Yearwood will work Monday through Thursday, and a certified nurse practitioner will treat patients on Friday.

Franklin Primary Health Center, Inc. proudly

announces the association of Dr. Amrita Yearwood

as an internal medicine specialist at Franklin’s

On Thursday, April 26th, Franklin Primary Health Center, Inc. (FPHC) held its

inaugural founder’s day program to celebrate the dream and dreamer at the Battle

House Renaissance Hotel in downtown Mobile. Over 200 FPHC supporters

attended the luncheon hosted by Lenise Ligon, anchor at WALA Fox 10 News.

Daniel R. Hawkins, Jr., Senior Vice President for Public Policy and Research

at the National Association of Community Health Centers, delivered the keynote

address and presented an award to FPHC. Mr. Hawkins praised the success and

growth of Franklin and the outstanding leadership of Charles White, CEO.

A video presentation was presented in honor of Dr. Marilyn Aiello, founder,

and Rep. James Buskey, founding board member. The video captured the vision

of Dr. Aiello to become a doctor and start Franklin. She enrolled in medical

school at The University of South Alabama at age 35 and opened the first Franklin

clinic at Dr. James Alexander Franklin’s former office in October 1975.

Mayor Sandy Stimpson of Mobile presented a proclamation declaring

April 26th as Dr. Marilyn Aiello’s Day in the city of Mobile. Regional Director for

Senator Doug Jones, Al Stokes, and State Rep. Adline Clarke gave greetings and

complimented the work of Rep. Buskey in the state and community.

Health Fair At The Aiello/Buskey Medical Center On Friday, April 27th, a health fair was held at the

Aiello/Buskey Medical Center in Prichard, Ala. The event

was held in conjunction with the inaugural founder’s day

celebration for Dr. Marilyn Aiello and Rep. James Buskey.

Over 100 attendees received free blood pressure,

dental, glucose, hearing, and vision screenings. Health

information, free food, and inflatable jumpers were also

provided. In addition, The City of Prichard presented a

proclamation to FPHC in honor of Dr. Aiello and

Rep. Buskey. The Alabama Department of Public Health

and the American Cancer Society sponsored the event. Sophia Oliver conducted blood pressure screenings.

Chidiya O. Ohiagu, Pharm.D., Receives Added Credential

Franklin Primary Health Center, Inc. congratulates

Chidiya O. Ohiagu, Pharm.D., for recently passing the

examination offered by the Board of Pharmacy

Specialties. He gained the added credential of Board

Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), which

signifies his advanced knowledge and expertise to

optimize medication use. Ohiagu states, “I look forward

to using this new credential to continue to serve our

patients and enhance care here at Franklin.”

AKA’s Raise Funds To Support Mental Health Awareness Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta

Theta Omega Chapter, hosted the “Stomp out the

Stigma” Walk and Day in the park on Saturday,

April 14th at Taylor Park. The event began with a walk

around the neighborhood and concluded with fellowship

and fun inside the park’s gymnasium. Over 100 sorority

members and guests participated in the walk to raise

awareness about the importance of seeking mental health

services when needed. A check for $1,532 was presented

to FPHC to assist in the provision of mental health and

social services to patients in the Maysville community.

Rosa Hart Retires From The Board Of Directors

Mrs. Rosa Hart, a retired nurse, recently retired in

May from Franklin’s Board of Directors after serving

23 years. She served as the Chair of the Board for two

years in 2004 and 2005. Mrs. Hart was truly a faithful,

dedicated, and loyal board member, user and supporter

of Franklin.

Sidewalk Dedication And Health Fair In Brewton, AL

Charles White, CEO, And Dr. Mary D. Lee Honored At UAB On Thursday, June 21st, The University of

Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) National

Alumni Society, in partnership with Warren

Averett and Business Alabama magazine, presented the

6th annual Excellence In Business Top 25. The program

is designed to identify, recognize, and celebrate the

success of the top 25 UAB alumni-owned or

alumni-managed businesses. Charles White, CEO, and

Dr. Mary Dickerson Lee, Chief Dental Officer, were

honored for their work at Franklin Primary

Health Center, Inc.

Franklin Primary Health Center, Inc. held a sidewalk dedication and health fair at the Brewton Family

Dental Center on June 8th. The dedication was held to honor and thank the D.W. McMillan Trust Fund for donating

$20,000 used to build a handicapped accessible sidewalk ramp at the entrance of the center. After the dedication

ceremony, a community heath fair was held. Over 40 participants received free dental, vision, blood pressure, and

glucose screenings.

of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) class of

2018. Stacy Arrington, Nicholas Generales, and

Samantha Nieves Mattox are Franklin’s first class of

ACOM graduates. Dr. Arrington was matched to the

Baylor Family Medicine residency in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Generales was matched to the Palm Beach

Consortium for Family Medicine in Florida. Dr. Mattox

was matched to the pathology residency at the Medical

College of Georgia in Augusta, Ga.
