Travis Outdoor Adventure Program Guides + Leaders consist of a society of diverse outdoor enthusiasts’ in the Travis Air Force Base Community. Volunteers combine strong leadership and expertise to professionally guide and instruct patrons in a variety of organized outdoor activities. Hard work, dedication, desire to better programs, continued learning and the unfathomable desire to respect and enjoy nature’s playground.

Our mission at Outdoor Recreation is to provide safe, expertly managed recreational programs that foster family and individual well-being, unit cohesion and physical fitness. Our vision is to have a professionally trained staff to provide single point access to information, equipment and a diverse environmental ly sound program that showcases local natural resources. We want to introduce people to the diversity, values and benefits of outdoor recreation activities and teach appropriate attitudes, behaviors and skills for these activities.

The Outdoor Adventure Program is an organized outfitter that allows you to sit back, relax and let us do all the planning for you. We have dozens of activities that are exciting, challenging and educational. OAP provides leadership, information and educational experiences for many trips each month. We offer a great venue to meet new people while enjoying nature. Many participants have developed friendships that have lasted well after the trip is over. All outings, unless otherwise specified, are suitable for beginners.

SNOWSHOE DONNER PASS

Come out for a day of exploring in and around Lake Tahoe. We will be hiking around in this winter wonderland crunching the snow underfoot while learning the skill of snowshoeing. Snowshoeing promises to be an invigorating new way to explore the winter backcountry. Equipment, guides and transportation included. Bring snacks and water and dress for winter weather.

Those under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

ROBBS HUTTSNOWSHOEWEEKENDMarch 20 - 22 | 6:00am - 8:00pmCost: $50 | Ages: 18+

Outdoor Recreation is offering its first ever multi day snowshoe trip to Robbs Hut located in the Tahoe Mountains! This two night, three day trip will see us snowshoeing with all gear and food in tow for just shy of 3 miles to our remote cabin high up on Robbs Peak. This cabin sleeps 6 so spots are limited. We will have a layover day to explore the local mountains and play in the snow! The hut has no electricity nor water, so plan to be secluded and remote. This is a great way to get the full winter camping experience in one of the most beautiful locations in all of Tahoe!

First Offering! We will be offering a beginner interest class for anyone looking to get into Archery. This class will intro-

duce all patrons to the art of a bow and arrow. We will teach the concept of target and range shooting. All equipment will be

provided. Location will be at the Skeet + Trap Range on Travis AFB. We will be advancing this class into a regularly offered class in April/

May 2015. Also available will be 4-H Archery through OAP/YC together.

MOUNTAIN BIKINGFeb 28 | March 22 | 8:00am - 5:00pm | Cost: $29 | Age:16+

Mountain Biking is a fantastic way to get outdoors and enjoy nature while pushing yourself to the limit. We will be taking a beginner friendly trip to one of the many locations in and around the Bay/Sacramento area. Trail location will be determined based on weather conditions and group ability. We will be covering the basics of mountain biking so no experience needed, though off-road biking experience is preferred. Plan on being on the trail for a few hours at a time. Dress for the weather and bring plenty of water! Trip includes park fees, instruction, and transportation as well as use of one of our brand new full suspension mountain bikes!

ALAMERE FALLSHIKEMarch 1 | 8:00am - 5:00pmCost: 25 | Ages: 18+

Point Reyes National Sea Shore is a remarkably beautiful location with spectacular views. We will be hiking 4 miles in to Alemere Falls, which cascade (weather dependent) onto the beach before flowing into the Pacific Ocean. This hike is a spectacular sight for anyone, and a great way to enjoy the serenity of the Pacific Ocean. This is a fairly flat trail with minimal elevation gain, but plan to spend a few hours walking and scrambling as we travel 8 miles round trip. The falls are seasonal and weather dependant, so cross your fingers for some wet weather! No matter what, bring your cameras as we will be heading ultimately to the beach and back.

BIG SURBACKPACKINGFebruary 20 - 22 Cost: $109 | Age: 18+Time TBD (see below)

The Pine Ridge Trail is located in Big Sur wilderness just a few short hours from Travis. This out and back trail will take us up 10 miles to the Sykes Hot Spring Campground. We will cross creeks, climb mountains and trek through the wilderness; which offers spectacular views of multiple waterfalls. We will camp 8 miles in the first night, making the final 2 mile push to Sykes Hot Springs the next day where we will spend the day soaking those sore muscles in this year round 100+ degree natural hot tub! Don’t forget to get a good night’s rest as it will be a full 10 mile hike out on Sunday.

This is a strenuous hike. Participants should be skilled and confident hiker. All meals, transportation and guides provided. Backpacks, sleeping bags and tents may be available, ask upon registration. This is THE Overnight Backpacking Trip in the San Francisco area, don’t miss out!

We will be kayaking along the coast of Sausalito, checking out the spectacular ocean side views of San Francisco; while getting in some exercise. Sausalito Bay is filled with seals, eclectic houseboats and soaring vistas; making Sausalito a world-famous destination. Along the way, your guide will teach you techniques to help you have a fun-filled day on the water. On the bay you will also see views of Mt. Tamalpais and the San Francisco skyline!

The Swiftwater Rescue workshop teaches recognition and avoidance of common river hazards, execution of self-rescue techniques and rescue techniques for paddlers in distress. Emphasis is placed both on personal safety and on simple, commonly used skills. Techniques for dealing with hazards that carry greater risks for both victim and rescuer, such as strainers, rescue vest applications, entrapments and pins, are also practiced. Scenarios will provide an opportunity for participants to practice their skills both individually and within a team/group context.

This course is mandatory to complete Raft Guide Training.

Become a class III-IV whitewater rafting guide! This 5 weekend training will cover skills and safety, river hydrology, river flows, scouting rapdis, running rapids, guides strokes, river and patron ettiquette, camp and kitchen operations, knots, raft rigging, swift water rescue skills and much more! Don’f forget your sleeping bags and tents, we will be camping out riverside on the South Fork of the American River each weekend. This training is open to men and women of all ranks; Active Duty, Reservists, Dependants, Retiree’s and DoD Employeess. We provide all water equipment, transportation, instruction and food! This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill set, a new lifestyle, meet new people and get come great exercise!

Enjoy a trip to Monterey, CA to sightsee and experience whale watching. The private boating company will take you out on the Pacific Ocean to see marine animals in their natural environment. You’ll have an opportunity to see dolphins, sea lions, seals and whales. Enjoy a little time on the beach and a great view with family and friends. This tour will be the 3-4 hour tour and you should dress in layers as the beach can be chilly. We encourage you to pack a lunch or plan to purchase one at any shops in the area.

Join Outdoor Adventure Programs as we head to the beach. Our staff will teach you the basics of surfing and provide you the opportunity to practice throughout the rest of the day. Bring the whole family on down to the Outdoor Recreation indoor rock wall. We will have staff on hand to teach you the basics of rock climbing, coach you up the wall and belay certify you. This is a great opportunity to try something new with the safety of trained and knowledgeable staff to coax you up the wall in a controlled environment. All equipment is included. The price is only $5 per person for anyone climbing, spectating is free!

Come learn the art of belaying; the skill needed to hold the climber in the air as they ascend our rock wall. This clinic teaches the basics of climbing equipment usage, commands, knots and safety. Ride with OAP as we celebrate the New Year – the Chinese New Year in downtown San Francisco! Nowhere in the world will you see a lunar new year parade with more gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions, exploding firecrackers , and of course the newly crowned Miss Chinatown U.S.A. and her court. A crowd favorite is the spectacular 250’ Golden Dragon (“Gum Lung”) It takes a team of over 100 men and women from the martial arts group, White Crane to carry this dragon throughout the streets of San Francisco. Over 100 units will participate in the Southwest Airlines Chinese New Year Parade, a San Francisco tradition since just after the Gold Rush! Individuals under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Take a shuttle into San Fran to visit the Travis Marina at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. Take a hike out to Fort Bakers’ private beach. Travis FAM CAMP is the Military RV camper recreation destination. This tranquil RV park offers 70 RV sites, 4 dry camp sites and 4 tent sites. RV sites are equipped with 50 and 30 amp hook-ups to accommodate all RV types and sizes. Full-service sites come complete with water, electric and sewer. Laundry, showers, and restrooms are open 24 hours with passcode. Free basic cable TV is available, simply sign up for a short term account with our local cable provider. Cable TV customers must drive to Fairfield Comcast to retrieve TV receiver. Internet WiFi service is also available with usage fees.

ELIGIBILITYAuthorized campers include: US Military Active Duty, Reservists, National Guard, retired US Military, Dependants, and DOD Employee civilians, Sponsored accompanying guests. RENTAL RATES

DAILY = (1 day fee) 24hrs Rental Weekend Rate = (2x daily fee) for 3 day rental: Friday - Monday Week Rate = (4x daily Fee) for 7 day rental Holiday Weekend = (2.5 x daily fee) for 4 days on federal holidays: Friday - Tuesday

ODR will be available for rental check in or out during operational hours and will close 30 minutes prior to close of business for that day. No after hours returns; a daily fee will be charged in addition to all equipment lost or damage fees. Rental items will not be refunded due to inclement weather or non-use. All rentals will be provided to the customer in an “as is” working manner. We encourage the customer to fill out the rental form to include any dents, dings, marks and missing pieces. Replacement value of lost or damaged rental items is at market value/price, plus a handling surcharge.

RESERVATIONS + CANCELLATIONSReservations are available 30 days in advance; 90 days for boats/campers. A credit card is required to make a reservation; on file until item returns for check in. All equipment is subject to damage, cleaning fees and late fees. Fees will be applied to the card on file at the time of check in. Repair fees may be invoiced. Reservations can be cancelled up to 72 hours prior to the date of pick up without a penalty. Cancellations within 72 hour window will forfeit the one day deposit. No shows will be charged for the entire reservation period. Rental customers are required to inquire if any specified requirements are needed for their rental item(s) (i.e. vehicle type, electric break control, tow requirements, ball hitch size, wiring system, cargo straps, car racks, special license/certifications/trainings, age restrictions, ect.) **At the time of rental checkout all requirements must be met or day fee forfeited. Management reserves the right to refuse rental privileges to any patron based on specified requirements, rental condition, vehicle condition or patron knowledge of the equipment. Reservations are subject to change due to equipment failure, damage or loss.

SQUADRON LOAN POLICYSquadrons are eligible for 2 free loans for tables, chairs and one additional picnic item (i.e. bounce house, dunk tank, canopy, BBQ) per calendar year. Reservations are available 30 days in advance. Free loans require a letter on squadron letter head and must be signed by the commander. Please provide letters at least 2 weeks prior to the event. PONTOON + FISHING POLICYAll Boat Rentals require California Boaters Safety Online Certification. Go to: http://www.boatus.org/onlinecourse/default.asp and then choose California and begin the course. (Allow at least 60 minutes)Pontoon Rentals also require California Boaters Safety Online Certificate and the completion of our “in-house” Boater Safety Training Course.Call 707-424-5240 for more information.

CAMP TRAILER POLICYPropane, hitches, + adapters responsibility of renter. *Renters must have ½ Ton Chassis with 7000+ Towing Capacity and Braking Control Box installed in vehicle. * All Trailer tanks MUST be entirely emptied and sanitized PRIOR to return. *Fam Camp has $5 dump station. * A $50 fee will be charged for sanitization cleaning fees associated with bathroom and tank cleaning. Reservations on all trailers can be made 90 days in advance. Minimum requirement for reservation is 3-business days prior to date of rental. One-day reservation fee required and will be used toward cost of rental. Deposit is kept on file for damages. There is a $150.00 refundable damage deposit due at check-out on Pop-Up trailers and a $350 deposit on Rockwood travel trailers. Any damage beyond deposit will be paid in-full by customer. Cleaning fees can be taken from this deposit if not returned in same condition as when checked out and signed for. $25 per hr for 1st hour and double thereafter. *Travis Outdoor Recreation is not responsible for propane tank levels, hitches or electric adapters.

After first completing the online boaters coarse, register for our very own Travis ODR Boater Safety Course! This will teach you the rules and regulations of California Waterways; and how to properly tow, launch and operate a 22” pontoon boat in a local waterway. Once you have completed your boater’s course, you will receive a Travis Outdoor Recreation Boater Safety Card. The card is good for renting pontoons for three years at Travis Outdoor Recreation. Please dress for boating; water shoes, shorts, ect. GOV tow vehicle is provided. Completion of California Boater’s Safety Online Course is required prior to registration. Must be at least 21yrs old with proof of valid drivers license and military ID. Pre-register by Friday before.
