    III. FAQS (Frequently Asked Questions)

    1. PCMCIA Motherboard Conflict

For PCMCIA, the motherboard resource conflict prevents Trav-elstar E External Hard Drive from configuring.

    Solution:

Some of the motherboards have both primary and secondaryIDE ports. If primary is enabled (most cases), the secondaryIDE port will also become enabled and cannot be disabledseparately. Unless some other device is connected to the sec-ondary port, Win95 cannot determine that the secondary PortBase 170 is already used. In this case, Win95 allocates170Hex base and IRQ 15 to the PC Card, which results in aconflict and no drive letter, or icon is allocated to Travelstar EExternal Hard Drive. To solve this, perform the following steps:

Insert the Travelstar E PCMCIA card into the slot on your

    notebook.

    Double-click on My Computer> Control Panel> Sys-

    tem.

Select the Device Manager tab and click on Hard disk

    controllers.

Double-click on Standard IDE/ESDI controller. If

more than one such entry is found then choose the lastone.
