New Member Welcome ProgramThe Chamber offers members the opportunityto reach out to new members.We prepare and distribute about 50 WelcomePackages for new members every year. Eachnew member receives a welcome letter,membership certificate and a selection ofinformation about members' businesses and

services. This may include information, offers, coupons, or other enticements. Thepackage is often of particular interest to start-up businesses. Whenever possible, thepackage is personally delivered by Marilyn Cringan, the Chamber's WelcomeAmbassador.As of Oct. 1, the Welcome Package becomes a cost recovery program. For anominal fee of $25 per year, members can include their materials in the WelcomePackage. Because the package is personally presented, you can be sure that yourmaterials will be highlighted and brought to the attention of the new members.The Packages are well received - we often received a thank you email, inappreciation of the personal touch, and the valuable information.

Cowichan Therapeutic Riding Association Receives Canada Post GrantThe Cowichan Therapeutic Riding Association (CTRA) has received $10,000 from the Canada Post CommunityFoundation. This funding will support the program in hiring a program assistant, and offering programs to 15 newparticipants. Often called a "therapy in disguise," therapeutic riding and equine-based therapies offer highly engagingopportunities for personal growth, empowerment, and social connection for participants. CTRA's program is madepossible through the efforts of over 100 community volunteers contributing over 4000 hours of time each year.
