Traveling the Amish Trail in OHIO This tour is like traveling back to a more peaceful place. You’ll feel like you’re in a
different era. It’s a refuge in the noisy confusion of life.
Traveling the rolling roads of the Amish Trail in OHIO is part of the enjoyment of a
visit to this part of the world. The roads are all well marked and in most places al-
most all paved. But look out for the Horse and Buggy’s. Give them lots of space and
lay off the horn. Don’t forget to wave.
Located in the heart of
Amish Country in Ohio,
The Farm at Walnut
Creek hosts over 500 ani-
mals, comprised of spe-
cies from six of the seven
continents. The menager-
ie includes exotic animals such as giraffes,
camels, zebras, and kangaroos along with
more common animals like horses, llamas,
and deer. Guests will have the opportunity
to view and hand-feed the animals from a
horse-drawn carriage.
This is a working farm and as such, the
type of activities visitors may witness dur-
ing a visit change with the seasons. De-
pending on the time of year, you may see
plowing, thrashing, canning, quilting and
more. You can tour the non-electric farm
houses, buy produce at our farm stand,
and take pictures of all that you see.

Lydia’s cashew crunch or any of her other
delicious candies.
A visit to Behalt (meaning to “keep or re-
member”). This will introduce your guests to
the Amish / Mennonite
heritage. The 10’ x 265’
foot cyclorama illustrates
the history of the Amish
and Mennonite people
from their early Anabap-
tist beginnings in Zurich,
Switzerland, in 1525, to
the present day.

David is a 5th generation carver of Swiss
heritage. The carvings created by Warther
depict the "History of the Ship" from 1st
Dynasty Egypt to the present day. Created in
miniature from legal antique ivory and eb-
ony wood the details include intricate scrim-
shaw engraving and finely carved ivory rig-
ging lines that measure just twice the thick-
ness of a human hair. David carves daily in
his on-site workshop where he regularly
demonstrates carving techniques to the vis-
iting public including his hand filing and
sanding technique of making the ivory rig-
ging lines.
FOLLOWING TOUR guests are invited to sit
down to enjoy a delicious catered meal with
David and his wife Mary Ruth. The meal is
prepared by a local, fully-licensed caterer,
and includes a plated entre, salad, dessert,
and beverage.

al Church Lunch at the event center. This is
similar to what the Amish would enjoy after
one of their church services. Note: Congrega-
tions are typically 25-35 families in size,
around 100-150 people. Church is held in

Watch live as the craftspeople make the fa-
mous All Natural Cheese through a one
hundred foot viewing corridor.
Kauffman’s Country Amish Bakery.
Guests will love sampling all the Amish
baked goods which are made on-site. Twen-
ty Amish and Mennonite women work in the
bakery. On an average day, the bakery
bakes 250 loaves of bread (on some days it
has been as high as 700), 100 dozen cook-
ies and over 100 pies. The bakery also
jams, jellies, spreads and more. Taste Test-
ing and Bread for all.
