    A vision or the uture

Imagine where you could land with a degree from Pace. Can you see yourself 10 years from nowacomputer analyst for Bloomberg? An FBI agent focused on cybersecurity? Or a web designer forthe next big start-up?

The Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, named after Pace alumnus andformer chairman and CEO of Verizon, Ivan G. Seidenberg, offers a broad spectrum of courses ranging fromweb technologies and game programmingto data miningand project management. Our program is alsoone of only a few nationwide that focuses onpatternrecognition, security, and robotics. Recently a teamof students developed 3-D vision for the robot Alexandra that may one day help save lives in hospitaland military settings. Thats just one of the ways Pace students are seeing things in a new light.

    Critical connections

Seidenbergs 90 full- and part-time educators are leaders in their felds. Take Susan M. Andrs Villagr, PhDProfessor of Modern Languages and Culturesand Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Andrs Villagr is a pioneer when it comes tousing technology in the classroom. It all startedwith his own blog, in Spanish, which studentseagerly followed. Villagr soon introduced blogsinto his students coursework, which they usedto connect with other students, faculty, alumni, and professionals in the international community. To create an even more collaborative onlineexperience, he created the Pace UniversitySpanish Lounge using wiki technology.

The students work has an immediate relevanceoutside the classroom. They have a sense ofauthorship and responsibility, explains Villagr.

They dont write for the professor anymore; they write for a real audience. In 2010,Villagr was awarded the first Dyson College Faculty Instructional Technology Award. He teaches Spanish Conversation, Translation, and Composition; Spanish for Businesscourses; and courses in Spanish and Latin American Culture, Literature, and Cinema.

Nancy Krucher, PhDAssociate Professor of Biology and Health Sciences

When Nancy Krucher received her PhD in Biochemistry from Clarkson University her motherhad just been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. She decided to go into breastcancer research at the University of Rochester Cancer Center and New York MedicalCollege before joining the faculty at Pace in 1999. During the past several years, she andher students have developed a novel way to induce cancer cells to commit suicide. Myresearch projects with Pace students have been among my proudest momentsits so greatto see the students get excited about the workand provide them with the opportunity tolearn about what its like to be a scientist. Her research has been supported by grants fromthe National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health.
