Program Overview‘Trauma-Informed School Communities’ is a free workshop delivered by Family Life to provide an introduction to the evidence-based theory and application of Bruce Perry’s Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) for school staff in Bayside, Kingston and Frankston .

NME is an internationally acclaimed framework designed to teach educators about the sequential nature of brain development, how adverse childhood experiences can affect the brain and behaviour in students, and strategies for teachers to better support and engage with students in the classroom.

‘The NME draws upon a neurodevelopmentally-informed, biologically respectful perspective on human development and functioning to help educators understand student behaviour and performance. The goals of NME are to educate faculty and students in basic concepts of neurosequential development and then teach them how to apply this knowledge to the teaching and learning process. NME is not a specific “intervention”; it is a way to educate school staff about brain development and developmental trauma and then to further teach them how to apply that knowledge to their work with students in and outside the classroom, particularly those students with adverse childhood experiences.’ Resource: http://childtrauma.org/nme/
