BEFORE DECIDING ON A CAREER
STEP 1 Complete a comprehensive career assessment to discover your natural skills and abilities.
STEP 2 Understand what motivates you. Is it money, status, image, interest or being of service?
STEP 3 Conduct research into each job that appeals to you.
STEP 4 Understand the daily duties of the roles you are interested in.
STEP 5 Research the educational requirements of these jobs and how you would need to upskill yourself to achieve employment in that field.

BURSARIES:
If you have worked hard in high school andachieved minimum results required forbursaries, you can submit your applications.Bursary providers offer different amountsand may focus on specific professions. Inreturn for this, companies may require youto sign a contract towork for them for a setperiodeitherwhilestudyingorafteryouhavecompletedyourstudies.
TETA awards bursaries every year for qualifying students to study transport related qualifications at South African institutions. Be constantly on the lookout for advertisement on the TETA website.
SCHOLARSHIP
Ascholarshipisgenerallyawardedtostudentswho have excellent academic achievements.Generally,thereisnorequirementforworkingbackorrepayingthecompanyforscholarships.
STUDENT LOANS
There are various financial institutions thatofferloanstostudents.Theseloansaccumulateinterestsandmustbepaidbackinfull.

WORK WHILE STUDYING
Earning while you study is an option for youto take control of thepaymentor repaymentfor your studies, this option generally worksbest for students that are self-motivated andextremelyfocusedontheirgoals.
You would need to learn to manage yourtime efficiently to be able to succeed infinancingyourstudiesonyourown,mostoftensacrificing social interactions to dedicate thetimetoachievingyourgoals.
CREATE A JOB SEARCH PLAN
Afterreadingthroughfromchapters4to12inthisguide,youwillhaveanideaonthecareerpath you want to follow and how to attaineducationforspecificcareers. It is importanttonotethatfindingajobrequiresajobsearchplan.
