Akhlaqur is an academic with almost 10 years of experience in teaching various Electrical Engineering and Industrial Automation courses at Australian and overseas universities.

Akhlaqur is a member of Engineers Australia and a Senior member of IEEE. He has been involved in industry funded projects with several top universities and government institutes. His PhD project was mainly focused on developing task offloading algorithms for Cloud Robotics applications of Industry 4.0.

Akhlaqur is also the “Secretary for IEEE Young Professionals Executive Committee” (VIC Section). His current research interests lie in the area of Industrial IoT, Cloud Robotics and Virtual Manufacturing System with a focus on improving system efficiency through network optimization.

Airbus: Factory of the Future

• The company has integrated sensors to tools and machines on the shop floor and given workers wearable technology designed to reduce errors and bolster safety in the workplace.

• In one procedure, known as cabin-seat marking, the wearables enabled a 500% improvement in productivity while nearly eliminating errors.


• In the Siemens smart factory, robot can drill holes, solder, perform some assembly processes, pick and place electrical components and test components.

• For instance, Jeep asked the company to help build a factory that could churn out a car body every 77 seconds. The company responded by helping the company build an IoT-enabled factory with hundreds of robots linked to a private cloud.

• The plant can produce more than

800 vehicles each day.

Bosch• The company connects its machinery to monitor the overall

production process at the core of its plant. This is achieved by embedding sensors into factory’s machines which are then used to collect data about the machines’ conditions and cycle time

• Once collected, advanced data analytics tools process the data in real time and alert workers when any bottlenecks in the production operations have been identified.

• Bosch realized a 25% increase in output for its automatic braking system (ABS) and electronic stability program, simply by introducing smart, connected lines.
