How to Ride Transit
Buses can kneel to lower the doorway closer to the curb. A ramp or lift bridges the gap between the curb and bus. Each bus can accommodate two wheelchair users. Need assistance? Just ask.
Link trains have level boarding between the platform and train. Streetcars have a ramp that deploys when a blue button is pressed.
Seniors and disabled riders have priority seating, marked by signs. At stops served by more than one route, the route number and destination is announced over the external speakers.
If you are unable to use regular transit services due to a disability, Metro’s Access paratransit service may be for you. Visit kingcounty.gov/Access or contact Metro for more information.

See where transit can take you in the city of Seattle and beyond with this map & guide.
Many destinations are served by a network of frequent all-day service, just show up and go!
Pay with exact cash (bills/coins) or an ORCA card with e-purse value or an unlimited day or monthly pass loaded. Drivers do not make change.
Pay with ORCA to get 2 hours of unlimited transfers on any service, except Washington State Ferries and the Monorail. You will only be charged once, whichever fare is the highest.
If you pay with cash or a Metro ticket, you will receive a 2-hour paper transfer, valid only on other Metro buses.
Buy train and ferry tickets with a Visa or MasterCard card.
Use the Transit GO Ticket app to buy tickets and day passes for participating services (subject to change).
Buy and add value to adult ORCA cards at any Link station, most Safeway & QFC grocery stores, Metro customer service offices, by mail, by calling 888-988-6722, or at orcacard.com.

A validated ticket, unexpired transfer, or tapped ORCA is your proof-of-payment (POP) on Link light rail, Seattle Streetcar, and RapidRide. POP allows you to board through any door. You must have valid POP while riding, otherwise you may be subject to penalties if you can’t present POP upon request.
Need more specifics? Get personalized step-by-step directions and schedules with the Puget Sound Trip Planner app or Metro Trip Planner at tripplanner.kingcounty.gov.
Find out when your bus or train will arrive with real time information from OneBusAway.
Get the app, visit pugetsound.onebusaway.org or text “onebus [your stop number]” to 41411.

! • Please let riders exit the bus or train before boarding.
• Keep your belongings off seats to make room for others.
• If standing, move toward the rear or away from doors.
• The next stop is announced audibly and visually on signs inside the vehicle. After the bus/streetcar has left the previous stop, pull the cord by the window or press the button/yellow strip to request your stop. Link light rail trains stop at every station automatically.

STROLLERSStrollers may either be clamped or folded and stowed. People in wheelchairs have priority in the clamp-down area.
BICYCLESAll Metro buses can carry three bicycles on front racks. For your safety, tell the driver before stepping in front of the bus. Load and secure your bike. If rack is full, you must wait for the next bus. When exiting, tell driver that you are removing your bike. Please fold the rack up when it is empty.
On streetcars/trains, put your bike in the rack or stand with it in designated areas. Board Link trains with your bike through doors with a bike symbol. Do not block the door or aisle with your bike.
