Bushtec Safari is a division of Canvas and Tent who have been manufacturing tents since 1968. Situated in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains in Ladysmith, South Africa, our factory is dedicated and committed to setting new standards in manufacturing.

From bars to outdoor pool areas, lounge and dining areas, private chalets with en-suite bathrooms, bomas, villas, boardrooms, libraries, kitchens, receptions, spas and more – whatever you need to enhance your camp or lodge, Bushtec Safari can design and create it.

From site preparation to camp/tent installation right through to site maintenance, we’ll be there every step of the way. We also offer a ready-to-go tented solution - our Meru Range – for either permanent or mobile camps, which can also be customised to meet most requirements.

No matter where your tent or camp will be located - be it on water, rocks, desert sand, a grassy plain, tropical beach, ice field or in dense forest - we will ensure it is built to last.

We source or manufacture the various materials required to exacting quality, safety and climatic durability standards and are committed to setting new manufacturing standards. We are SABS, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14 001 certified and we also offer warranties on various products, parts and workmanship.

Our factory was the first tent manufacturing company in Africa to implement the Eton system in our state-of-the-art manufacturing factory in Ladysmith. This initiative revolutionised canvas product manufacturing. The system provides real time data collection and information resulting in many process and organisational benefits including improved production quality, reduced through-put times, optimal workflow and increased design flexibility. All of which keep the Canvas & Tent group at the forefront of excellence.

Materials used are tested according to international standards in our on-site laboratory. Our expert in-house skills include R&D, computerised designing and production, testing, quality programmes and logistics. As part of our B-BBEE and Enterprise Development initiatives, we have our own steel manufacturing factory whereby we ensure the continued expansion of our product offering.

Meru range

This range is more of what you want, for less. Invest in the Meru Range of standard A-style framed tents. They’re also an ideal solution for mobile camps and each tent can be customised to meet most requirements.

There are three standard frame sizes (frame length with flysheet for each tent) with all three tents available in three body sizes (any tent body size fits onto any frame):
