Transformation of the World
The Pastor’s Pen “No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you
nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5
Change is difficult no matter who you are and what you are doing. Depending on the change it could include new people, new re-
sponsibilities, new places, or a number of other things that even though you might have an idea of what the change is about, there
are a lot of things that you aren’t quite sure about. That’s what makes it difficult. Thank God that we as Christians never have to face
change alone. For me, and I hope for you, I believe that the promise that God made to Joshua so long ago applies to all of us who
call upon the name of the Lord.
Joshua was Moses’ right hand man. Joshua had seen the mighty hand of God do some amazing things like winning the battle over
the Egyptians without any help from the people of Israel. Joshua saw God win battles over other tribes threatening his people so he
had a history of seeing God work in a big way. BUT Joshua had never been in charge. Moses was always the one in charge. So
this change made Joshua a little uncomfortable. How wonderful it must have been to hear God say “As I was with Moses, so I will be
with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
We are heading towards change here at the church. For me it is leaving a people that I know really well. There are some of you that
I have been in spiritual battles with, and some that together we have seen the mighty presence of God win those battles and bring us
closer together. There have been marriages healed, hearts given to Christ, baptisms, people who have grown spiritually, fond fare-
wells to loved ones who entered the church triumphant just in the people that are members and call themselves Methodists. That
doesn’t include the mighty work God has done through our outreach to Kenya, Four Corners, Fritch, Guatemala, Liberia, and around
this great state. Just like Joshua, I have seen God do amazing things in and through me and the people of the First United Methodist
Church of Canadian.
As I look at some of the young faces of children that have only known me as their pastor, or I think of some of the things that I believe
God wanted me to achieve here, I can’t help but feel disappointment in having to leave, along with a little bit of nervousness about
starting all new somewhere else. Change is difficult. What if the people I am going to don’t get me? What if they expect things that
are outside of my area of expertise? What if they don’t like me, or my wife? What if they don’t like my sense of humor? What if I fail?
What If I go and God doesn’t go with me?
Then, I’m sure some of you don’t’ like change either. Some of you may be thinking what if I don’t like the new pastor? What if he
doesn’t like me? What if he changes things that I like? What if he doesn’t change things that I don’t like? What if he expects things
from me that are outside of my area of expertise? What if he doesn’t get me, or think that I’m funny? What if our church fails? What
if God takes His presence away from us?
I will tell you what God speaks to me, when I start wondering and worrying in the face of change. “Danny, you are mine. Remember
all that I have done in and through you. As I was with Moses long ago, and Joshua after, and any and everyone who has chosen to
give me their lives throughout history, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
There is a lot of change in store for you and for me, but I do know that if you bend your knee to God and continue to seek His face,
He will not leave you or me nor will He ever forsake you.
I pray that God will bless this new change of ministry with you and Larry Bass, and that miracles and lives changed continues to be a
part of this church’s ministry every day, and I hope that you will pray the same for me as I change addresses but continue to live out
my call to tell others about this amazing God I serve, and the gift of Jesus my Savior, as well as the gift of His Holy Spirit that leads
me in and through the change.

One of those agenda items is a presentation about the Strategic Plan for the NWTX Conference which will brought to the Annual Conference by the Strategic Planning Team for consideration and adoption, a fruitful result of the Team's work during the past year as authorized by the Annual Conference in June 2016. Annual Conference this year will be held in Lubbock, June 8-10.

I pray that God will bless this new change of ministry with you and Larry Bass, and that miracles and lives changed continues to be a
part of this church’s ministry every day, and I hope that you will pray the same for me as I change addresses but continue to live out
my call to tell others about this amazing God I serve, and the gift of Jesus my Savior, as well as the gift of His Holy Spirit that leads
me in and through the change.

are a lot of things that you aren’t quite sure about.
In His Service, Danny

EGGSTRAVAGANZA WITH CANADIAN RIVER ART
The After School Kids at FUMC continued their search for Jesus in Canadian in April. The kids interviewed Shannon Caseltine of Canadian River Art about her faith and were blessed by her witness. The group also colored Easter eggs. We are so thankful that Shannon and Canadian
River Art are part of our community. The After School kids will complete their search for Jesus for this school year on May 10

Greetings Amarillo District Pastors, Lay and Alternate Lay Members of Annual Conference, Church Council Chairs and District Leaders,
The Annual Amarillo District Conference and Pre-Annual Conference Meeting will be held on Sunday, May 21, 2017, beginning at 5:15 p.m. with dinner (serving begins at 5:15 pm) and the meeting at 6:00 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church in Pampa, Texas (201 E. Foster Ave). The agenda for the District Conference will include election of Amarillo District Leaders and Officers, approval of the Amarillo District Budget for 2018, and a report of activities within the District, both during the past year and into the coming year. There will also be a time to recognize all of the churches who paid 100% of their Shared Ministries in 2016, as well as a time of learning.
The Pre-Annual Conference portion of the gathering will include pertinent information about annual conference, including some of the agenda items that will come before the annual conference for approval and adoption.
The dinner is being catered this year by Dyer's Bar-B-Que in Pampa, and will include smoked brisket, chicken and sau-sage, potato salad, coleslaw, beans, bread and cobbler, as well as pickles, peppers, onions, apricot sauce, barbecue sauce, iced tea and water. A love offering will be taken to help defray a portion of the cost of the meal, suggested dona-tion being $8.00.
Pastors, please RSVP for those who will be attending from your church, either,
YES, with the number attending the meal and the number attending just the meeting, OR
NO, no one will be attending either the meal or the meeting (I don’t anticipate many in this category)
Please RSVP to Suzy ([email protected] or 806-376-7271), in the District Office by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15. If you will need child care as you attend the district conference, please use the attached RSVP for childcare (including a meal) and return the completed child care RSVP information sheet to Suzy ([email protected] or
call 806-376-7271) by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 15.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Pampa on Sunday, May 21, at 5:15 p.m. for dinner and 6:00 p.m. for the meeting as we gather at First United Methodist Church. Until then, may the Lord continue to bless your journey as one of Christ’s disciples as you bear witness to the fruit of the Spirit in your life each day.
Blessings,
Rev. Paul E. Bauernfeind
