III/ PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
1. Describe your AIESEC experience (Induction to AIESEC, Taking
Responsibility, Leadership, Exchange stage) up to now and explain what did you
learn at each stage?
I joined AIESEC in this April. In LTS, I was introduced a lot about AIESEC, its
history, values, visions and also specific tasks in each functional team.
After that, I was delegated to TM team. In TM, I know how to keep track and evaluate
members, how to organize a learning event, how to cooperate with others and
motivate others as well as myself.
In July, I became OCP of HIV project. It is a great chance for me to develop my
potential as a leader. I have gained much experiences and skills during this period. I
have improved my time management skill, professional working style and leadership
skill. I know how to make plan for a project and keep track it. I know how to delegate
tasks equally to others and coordinate them. I also became more sympathetic with
others when working with them. Moreover, I know how to contact and keep
relationship with external factors. I get acquainted with working under pressure and
stress, and develop my commitment to results and resilience. I also had chances to
work directly with MC VP F&P and our interns, who have a lot experiences in
AIESEC and taught me a lot.
2. What do see yourself doing five years from now? (Occupation, family, your
image, contribution to society etc) How do you see your work in AIESEC will
contribute to achieving this goal?
Within the next five years, I intend to have master degree in Australia or England. I
would like to work in Human Resource Department in a multinational company with
a high salary and good chances to get promotion. I also want to visit at least two
countries, especially Japan.
About family, I do not have any plan for getting married in five years now. I think
that it is a matter of fate. When it must come, it will come so I do not want to foresee
or plan anything for it.
I would like to contribute to society when I have chances, especially help our LC as
an alumni at that time.
After 8 months in AIESEC, I have learnt much as I mentioned above. Besides these
things, I think that the most important thing my AIESEC work will contribute to
achieving my goals is spirit and vision that AIESEC gave me. During the period in
.byethost10.com
AIESEC Foreign Trade University 8
www.aiesecftu-hanoi.com
AIESEC, I have learned that chances come to everyone but success only comes to
those who dare to grasp chances. Dare to dream, break the chains, take challenges and
go straight to achieve what I want is the biggest lesson AIESEC taught me. That spirit
will help me lots in my future.
3. What kind of personal challenges do you predict for yourself in the term as an
LCP, and how would you like to deal with them?
I think if I could be the LCP this term, there would be some personal challenges
waiting for me.
First of all, the challenge may come from my mother. Now she is staying with me in
Hanoi. During the time I was an OCP, I had to go out much and had lots of AIESEC
work to deal with. I spent most of my time in the evenings with my computer. My
mother didn’t say anything but I know she was worrying about my study. But I think
it will not be my big challenge. My mother always believes and supports me in
everything I do. What I must do is not to let her down with my result in study.
The second challenge is my ability in balancing all of my stuff. I have many plans in
the last year as a student and also after graduating from university. I must spend more
time for my study, especially English and Japanese. Moreover, I have to spend time
with my family, friends, part-time job, and class. Sometimes I feel rather tired to deal
with all of these things. However, I know everyone also meets these problems in their
lives. There is no reason for complaining about lacking of time. The solution for this
is that I should manage my time better and plan everything scientifically.
4. Mention your 3 major strengths and 3 weaknesses?
3 strengths I am proud of are responsibility, resilience and good listener
3 things I most want to improve are: aggressiveness, conservation in thinking and
sometimes too sensitive
5. Describe how your strengths and weaknesses could influence your LCP
performance? (Maximum in 300 words)
To begin with, I think that my strengths will help me much in the position of an LCP.
I am a responsible person. I usually try to fulfill my tasks with high attitude. I dare to
take charge and to bear all the results I caused. Moreover, as a person with high
resilience, I can work well under great pressure and commit to result even it’s
difficult. Being an LCP will require such of these things. Furthermore, an LCP need
to be a good listener. An LCP is also a leader and a successful leader should know
how to listen to his/her members to regulate his/her own behaviors as well as build a
good relationship among the team.
However, I also have some weakness that may influence my performance. I am rather
aggressive and sensitive. I sometimes find it difficult to control my emotions and keep
.byethost10.com

www.aiesecftu-hanoi.com
calm. But I easily forget things if I can shout or be left alone. I know that this
behavior will create a bad image as an LCP but I am trying to change myself. In
addition, conservation is not good, either. I know an LCP should be more flexible and
open-minded to get outside opinions or ideas. But I myself only want to change my
mind if I am totally persuaded.
IV/ YOUR AIESEC PATH
1. Why are you in AIESEC?
At first, my reason to be in AIESEC is the chances AIESEC promises to bring to me.
When being recruited, I hope that I can develop my English and have chances to go
abroad as an intern. Moreover, AIESEC is a place where I can meet proactive and
intelligent students, attend many conferences and promising learning events (as what
is written in AIESEC website, of course).
However, after joining AIESEC, I see that not only what I was promised (somehow it
was different from what I imagine before), AIESEC also brings me chances to
develop my potential as its slogan “learning by doing”. Together with my team, we
run learning events and project by ourselves. I can meet cute interns who bring fresh
air into my life and encouraged me a lot. I did many things in TM and project and
gained many skills that never has a university taught me before. I make friends with
many AIESECers and shared meaningful moments with them. I feel I have
somewhere to belong to.
These are the reasons why I am in AIESEC, and will be in AIESEC until my last day
in university.
2. What have been your 3 key achievements in AIESEC?
The first achievement in AIESEC I should mention is the good result my PBoX
gained. We achieved the goals set by MC only after one month we run the workshop.
Until now, I am still proud of my team a lot. We did a great job and were the best
team I have ever had.
Secondly, I have improved my soft skills a lot after joining AIESEC. I have better
time management and better ability to work under stress and workload.
However, the most important achievement I gained in AIESEC is the spirit. I have
changed my vision. Now I have enough courage to go for what I dream without
hesitating and to change myself to adapt to new environment.
3. After hearing you introduce about AIESEC, the Principal of our university do
not believe that AIESEC could be the platform for young people to explore and
develop their leadership potential. How would you address him? Use a maximum
of 150 words!
AIESEC is the platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership
.byethost10.com
AIESEC Foreign Trade University 10
www.aiesecftu-hanoi.com
potential.
All the members in AIESEC are students aged from 18 – 22. AIESEC acts in favor of
students, with the desire to develop students by giving them the real chances to
perform. As a leader in AIESEC, students will have opportunities to realize their own
abilities and competencies by dealing with the problems by themselves. They act the
roles as a real leader such as planning, delegating tasks and coordinating members.
They also take charged of their work, make the mistakes but learn from these
mistakes by themselves. They will meet external partners as a representative of an
organization then will be more professional.
In short, AIESEC is a large and unique school for students to live up to their potential
as a leader.
4. What is your understanding of AIESEC 2010? How can it relevant to our LC?
2010 is a turning point for AIESEC and AIESEC 2010 is considered the legendary
generation. AIESEC 2010 is the time when AIESEC nationally will gather and look
back what they have achieved for the last five years. They will see whether they have
performed as well as five years ago they expected. This year is also the time for
AIESECer all around the world set the goals for the next 5 years. A new page of
AIESEC is open. In fact, until now AIESEC has done a great job that much better
than the goals they set before.
Look in our LC, I think that our generation in 2010 is very important. We passed the
first year successfully and go on building our LC on the basement the first generation
set. We also have to set our goals that are relevant to international AIESEC’s goals in
5 years. We should make 2010 a striking point as AI is doing
V/ YOUR AIESEC FTU HANOI
1. Why have you decided to apply for the position of LCP?
The first reason I want to apply for the position of LCP is that I am studying in
Business Administration faculty, which involves directly to leadership and
management. I study this field with my heart with the hope that I will truly become a
successful manager in the future. And being an LCP promises a chance to sharpen my
leadership skill, a desire career in the future.
Secondly, I achieved leadership stage in AIESEC experience as an OCP. I would like
to take further steps in my AIESEC life with higher positions. Moreover, this election
offers me a challenge to develop a better myself. I really want to take this chance and
dare to go for greater achievement.
Lastly, the most important thing makes me decide to apply is that AIESEC has
brought me a lot of wonderful things with great improvements. I myself feel that I
should do more to devote to AIESEC, to make AIESEC a better place for every
.byethost10.com
AIESEC Foreign Trade University 11
www.aiesecftu-hanoi.com
AIESECer in our LC and encourage others to live up to AIESEC experiences, to see
how much AIESEC can change their lives.
2. Describe LC FTU HN’s current situation in terms of strengths & weaknesses
I think the largest strength of LC FTU HN is that our members have very good
background. We come from one of the top universities in Vietnam with a high level of
English. Many of our members are very proactive and attend many outside activities.
We are also intelligent and have good competencies as all of us have passed four strict
grounds in recruitment. Furthermore, after only a few months, our LC has proved our
strength with a good sale team (both ICX and ER).
However, our LC still has some weakness. I feel the connection among members is
not strong enough. Some seem to be “strangers” with others. Secondly, the
commitment to AIESEC is not high as I expected. Some members do not devote to
AIESEC work or fear that AIESEC will influence their study. Thirdly, our culture is
not strong. I can’t define what culture we have now.
3. What could be the opportunities & challenges for LC FTU HN next year?
There are many opportunities for our LC next year. After 8 months, our LC has
become stronger with a good sale team and a successful project. Therefore, we have
background to bid for NLDC and another project next year. Moreover, we have built
brand with some NGOs and companies. This will help us to extend our fame to others
more easily by their endorsements or introductions. In addition, AIESEC is now
known better by FTUers, which offers us better chances for recruitment. Our
professional lecturer in FTU and strong clubs are also two sources that we should
approach.
However, we have to face with several challenges. Our LC was established after LC
Hanoi. Therefore, we had disadvantages in approaching partners and advisors as the
most potential ones have been used by them. Secondly, many external entities do not
believe in students and scare of being cheated. Moreover, sometimes we want to do
things professionally but our partners do not take it serious like some NGOs and
schools we dealt with. Or sometimes the partners are not willing to share with us
openly. The challenge here is that we have to change ourselves to prove our
profession and good will.
4. From your perspective, describe the model of LCP & VPs that LC FTU Hanoi
needs for next term
I think, in general, the model of EBs that LC FTU Hanoi needs for next term should
be those who have high responsibility and commitment to result. Moreover, they
should act in favor of LC, have enough inspiration to link and encourage members.
They should be proactive to build a strong culture and set an example for other
members in aspect of AIESEC spirit.
5. How do you see AIESEC FTU Hanoi in 3 years?
.byethost10.com
AIESEC Foreign Trade University 12
www.aiesecftu-hanoi.com
I want to see a strong AIESEC FTU Hanoi in 3 years. We will be the second strongest
LC in Vietnam. Members devote to AIESEC work with high spirit. And the most
important thing is that AIESEC FTU Hanoi will be the second family for each
member.
6. Imagine that your year as LCP is gone and your successor is talking about
your main achievements during past year in front of the LC. What is he/she
saying?
He/she is going to say: Our outgoing LCP has done what she promised when being
elected as our LCP. She has tried her best to devote to our LC, to build a stronger LC
both in work and culture. She has never let us down by her performance. She inspired
our spirit a lot and linked members together. A great job that when looking back, she
will be proud of very much.
7. Describe what your preferred leadership style is and what kind of team would
you like to work with (not concrete people or personalities, but more what kind
of atmosphere, and how the team should function)
I like a leader who can manage his/her team by heart. It means that he/she can inspire
members, encourage them to achieve the common goals in effective way. He/she
should take care of members and create a close but respectful relationship with
members. Moreover, a leader should sometimes trade – off without complaints in the
favor of the whole team and his/her work.
I like a team with different background and style. It is a challenge and also a surprise
when working in this kind of team. Each time we work in a team with various
opinions and lifestyles, we can learn something from them and get lessons for
ourselves. We also know how to solve problems better and adapt to changes more
easily.
However, I would like in this team there is not too stressful competitions.
Competitions should be within control and constructive for the common purposes and
goals. In fact, all members in the team should develop others, share their experiences
freely and are open – minded to others.
8. What is the most important characteristic of a leader in your opinion?
I think the most important characteristic a leader should have is the ability to work
with people, especially with his/her members. A leader is not a leader if he/she does
not have members or his/her members don’t respect or obey him/her. A leader is also
a member in a team. Therefore, he/she should be close with others, listen to and
understand others as well as appreciate them.
Furthermore, “ability to work with people” means leaders should know how to work
with people from diversified background, never look down on them or have bias.
Power is good but a fair and caring leader is better, in my opinion. Power sometimes
.byethost10.com
AIESEC Foreign Trade University 13
www.aiesecftu-hanoi.com
brings resistance but “ability to work with people” makes others respect and commit
to their leader.
9. Please explain to the whole LC why the Compendium is crucial (max. 300
words)
Do you know how crucial the Compendium is to an LC?
First of all, it is a measurement to all of our performances. When looking at this, we
will know how well we have worked and what we should behave to go further.
Secondly, the Compendium is somehow like expectations we set for ourselves and
also what the pre-generations want us to perform. What way we would like to act and
what is the basement for that.
Thirdly, the Compendium is the rules we strictly want ourselves to obey. We are an
organization and we are well – organized. We work professionally and do things in
structures with clear process.
Moreover, Compendium is a part of our culture. We live up to what we have built and
believe in it.
10. What culture would you like to see AIESEC in FTU Hanoi having? What
would be your key “strategies” to foster this culture?
I would like AIESEC in FTU Hanoi will have a close relationship culture. I mean
AIESEC will be not only the place to develop our potential, but also a second family
where members can get sharing, relaxing and connection.
My key “strategies” to foster this culture is “family – oriented culture”
11. How do you evaluate LCP term 2009-2010’s performance?
I myself think that LCP term 2009 – 2010 is a result – oriented and responsible
person. She devote lots of her time to AIESEC. She also takes care of others, try to
motivate and encourage members then develop them. She has a very good critical
thinking but sometimes too serious and pushes on others. But I know that she only
wants to make them become more responsible and professional.
VI/ ENDORSEMENTS
ENDORSEMENT 1
To whom it may concern,
My name is Nguyen Ngoc Ha, currently Local Vice President of Talent Management
of AIESEC FTU Hanoi. I am writing this endorsement to nominate Tran Thi Minh
Chau for the LCP position of AIESEC FTU Hanoi. For nearly one year working in
AIESEC, she has shown her big interest, her professional working style and above all
her trial to strive for the excellence in all works she carries.
.byethost10.com
AIESEC Foreign Trade University 14
www.aiesecftu-hanoi.com
As a member in TM team, Tran Thi Minh Chau could utilise her strength of
professional skills as well as her strong attitude towards AIESEC to apply for the job.
Consequently, she has contributed a lot of to a better performance of TM team in this
term. There is a period when Minh Chau did not belong to TM team but to work as
OCP position for HIV/AIDs project. Bring to the final result, Minh Chau has lead all
project team to achieve for the high result more than expectation.
From all of her experience in AIESEC, I strongly believe that she is eligible for LCP
position. Minh Chau has shown to have strategic thinking, to be a good planner, a
good coordinator among team with good interpersonal skill, intelligence and her
strong characteristic.
LCP is not an easy task. You have normally had to struggle against the overloaded
work and sometimes be isolated for the team spirit. But every member in FTU’s LC
can easily find out that does not mean much with Minh Chau’s situation.
The final thing I want to say is: “I do really hope that Tran Thi Minh Chau will have
chance to go for next steps leading to the highest leadership position in one local
committee and to make her dream with a better AIESEC will come true”.
ENDORSEMENT 2
To whom it may concern
My name is Vu Thi Thu Trang, currently member of Talent Mangement of AIESEC
FTU Hanoi. I am very pleased to write this endorsement to nominate Tran Thi Minh
Chau for one of the candidate for LCP position. LCP is a position that requires
competence, dedication and high level of responsibility, and Minh Chau is proven to
have competencies mentioned above.
The reason why I know Minh Chau well is that aside from working as an active
member of TM team, she is also a successful OCP and a great monitor in university
class. Minh Chau is one of those whom I consider to be capable of working in many
spheres. She has very good interpersonal skills, confidence, critical and strategic
thinking and high responsibility. Never once, have I heard any one complaining, or
having a negative attitude towards Minh Chau. Most of AIESECers think of Minh
Chau as a proactive, highly responsible and committed to the result person
I know that LCP election is the most important event of each LC and one of LCP
candidates will mark the turning point in the history of our LC. Therefore, I am
convinced that Minh Chau is a potential candidate for this position and strongly
believe that she will win the hearts of all members.

VII/ YOUR OWN SPACE
Express anything you want to express here
During my AIESEC life (until now, of course), sometimes I felt overloaded and
stressed. I found it hard to balance all things around me, my study, my mission in
class, my family, my part – time job, my personal relationship and AIESEC work.
Some of these things are very important to me and I can’t put them aside. One or two
times, I thought of giving up AIESEC and return to my normal life before, having free
time and fun with my friends anytime I want.
However, I decided not to do that. Being unable to balance my stuff is my fault and
weakness, not because of AIESEC. AIESEC gave me many things that university
can’t teach me. Only in AIESEC can I realize my true potential, my strength and
weakness. I can learn from observing other AIESECers. They weren’t as lucky as me
when I could take the first leadership position in our LC. But they are not
demotivated. They never think of giving up. They still go straight and devote to
AIESEC with their inspiration and endless effort. They somehow desire to be tired
and under pressure like me as an OCP. I have stress that others want to have, because
thank to it, I can learn lots of great things.
As a member in my team said that, AIESEC seems to be my habit. I work for
AIESEC and no longer think of giving up. “COURAGE” is the greatest thing and also
the present that AIESEC gave me. I am willing to take this challenge and many other
challenges AIESEC will offer me in the future. Now I dare to go for what I want,
whatever the result will be.
