Consumers

trakt automatically knows what you’re watching in your media center and updates your profile.

Anyone running a compatible media center, such as Boxee, XBMC and Plex can use trakt. Any media center that isn’t compatible yet can easily be integrated through our API.

Those without a media center can still “check in” to TV shows and movies using one of many trakt mobile apps, developed by members using our API.

Much like Spotify, trakt integrates with Facebook’s new Timeline to show when users are watching their shows.

trakt is the only service of its kind to fully support automation, checking in and fully displaying a users’ complete watching history. Thanks to automation, trakt collects more data per active user than any competing Social TV service.

Real-time information is available at trakt.tv, see what everyone is watching right now.

The API is used for everything from mobile applications, to Siri integration, to embedded reviews (we call them “shouts”). We perceive our approach to closely follow the original Twitter model.

Membership and “scrobbles” (a term coined by Last.fm, a similar service, but for music) have shown growth every single month. Our users watch an average of 10,000 episodes and movies every day.

Producers & Distributors

trakt displays data that is real-time and puts information from different media centers in a centralized interface. The data gives insight into what consumers are watching with media centers in their homes.

The trakt team is ready to receive feedback from content producers and providers to design relevant reports and analytics.

Entertainment executives need more insight into what consumers do with their media at home. Now they can have it.

Our goal is to establish relationships with partners who can benefit from our platform and our data and can integrate the platform into new and existing devices in consumers’ living rooms.

Build a compelling and evolved reporting engine that studios and distributors will find valuable.

Continue to focus on automation, but embrace expansion into mobile. Several third-party mobile apps are already available and under development.

Long-Term Goals

Integrate with cable or satellite companies with existing market share to get trakt into the living room

Establish partnerships with media center and internet TV device companies. If they integrate our platform we can add value for them with our data that is specific to their users.

Integrate gamification in the consumer experience (i.e.. badges, achievements, points).

Run TV show related promotions in coordination with studios.

User Experience

When you start watching a show on your media center, the title and summary appear on your trakt profile as currently watching. All episodes and movies you watch go on your watched lists.

User profiles show what users have watched, what they’re currently watching, how they rated episodes and more. Profiles and all other user related content can be found on the trakt website or integrated into any platform through our API.

Your media player notifies trakt.

trakt highlights shows that the most people are currently watching as Trending Shows. It’s like trending topics for media players.

trakt gives recommendations to help you discover new shows and movies you might like, based on your tastes as well as your compatible friends’.

Competition

trakt can be differentiated in the highly saturated Social TV market because:• It is the only service that is primarily automated. • Other apps which require check-in are more prone to inconsistent user participation and abandonment.• trakt has been built to its current state without outside funding and runs on very low overhead. No debt.• 30,000 users, 2.5 million scrobbles, 10,000 average per day.

GetGlueMobile check-in service for TV, movies, books and music.Runs promotions with major studios, such as HBO.2 million users, over 100 million check-ins in 2011.Over $24 million in venture financing, not yet profitable.

MisoMobile check-in service for TV and movies.Between 100,000 to 200,000 users, little transparency into statistics behind user engagement but we believe they have a much lower ratio of engagements to users than trakt.$6 million in venture funding. Profitability unknown.

TunerfishOwned by Comcast. Large user base but very little engagement compared to trakt. Example: The Big Bang Theory, watched 81 times recently Tunerfish, scrobbled on trakt nearly 100,000 times (over 3,000 in the last 7 days).
