Day 1 Delhiwednesday: start your journey with a sightseeing tour of New Delhi, visiting sights such as Humayun’s Tomb, the impressive Qutub Minar, Birla Temple and Bangla sahib Gurdwara, the largest sikh house of worship in Delhi. Drive past India Gate (War Memorial Arch), the President’s House and Parliament House. You are then dropped off at the train station to embark on the journey of a lifetime on board the Palace on Wheels. Enjoy dinner on board as you travel to Jaipur.Day 2 Jaipur thursday: An air-conditioned coach takes you to Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) followed by an elephant ride at Amber Fort. shop for Jaipur’s famous jewelry, handicrafts, carpets, blue pottery and textiles and then enjoy lunch at a Palace Hotel. Later, visit the City Palace, Jantar Mantar Observatory and return to the train for dinner as it heads to sawai Madhopur. Hampi was the seat of the famed Vijayanagara Empire in post-moghul India. Now, the 14th century ruins of Hampi have been designated a World Heritage site and narrate the story of its former grandeur, splendor and fabulous wealth.

Badami is picturesquely situated at the mouth of a ravine between two rocky hills. The exquisite sculptures and cave temples in the rust red sandstone cliffs tell many tales of yore.

Day 1 Bilbao, sotoscueva, Vado-CerveraArrive at the appointed station in Bilbao this afternoon and settle into your comfortable cabin or relax in the train’s lounge. The train departs at 4:00 this afternoon and makes its first stop in Espinosa de los Monteros, where a coach takes you to visit the Karstic complex of Ojo Güareña in sotoscueva, one of the largest in the world. Depart from sotoscueva and travel by train to Cervera de Pisuerga, where a sumptuous dinner is served at the Parador de Fuentes Carrionas. stay overnight on board the train as it remains stationary in Vado-Cervera.Day 2 Cistierna, Boñar, León enjoy a succulent breakfast on board as the train makes its way to cistierna. Board a coach which takes you to the sabero mining and steelworks Museum and continue to Boñar for visits to the Wild Fauna Museum and the impressive Porma reservoir. After a luncheon in Valdehuesa, return to the train and travel to Leon, a city of roman origin where culture and art are everywhere. Visit the famous Cathedral of Leon, san Isidoro, Historical Centre and san Marcos. Dinner is served in the famous Prieto Picudo wine cellars followed by an overnight stay on board the train at Leon’s station.Day 3 Matallana, Aguilar de Campoo, Espinosa de los Monteros Breakfast is served on board as the train winds around the picturesque Torío riverside en route to Matallana. Depart via coach

to visit the Hoces de Vegacervera and the Valporquero caves, and admire the stalactites, stalagmites and filtrations that have made them famous. Continue onwards to Vado-Cervera from where you are taken to Aguilar de Campoo for lunch. Enjoy a visit to this villa, where the aroma of freshly baked biscuits extends throughout the surroundings. Later today, the train takes you from Mataporquera towards Espinosa de Los Monteros where you will have dinner and spend the night.Day 4 Espinosa de los Monteros, Balmaseda, Bilbao After breakfast on the train, visit the Villa of Espinosa de Los Monteros and Medina de Pomar, which is home to the famous Alcázar de los Condestables and its famous Historical Centre. Your next stop is Balmaseda, where you may tour the Encartada Beret Factory and enjoy a typical luncheon. Later this afternoon, visit the Torre de loizaga castle in Galdames which houses the largest collection of rolls royce vehicles in the world. rejoin the train as it embarks on the final leg of the journey back to Bilbao. Disembark the train around 8:00 this evening.

Boñar

Boñar is located in the province of León, Castile and León. The nature preserve of Parque regional de los Picos de Europa is a popular destination for enjoying outdoor activities. In spring and summer, the pine and deciduous forests in the mountains throughout the region are destinations for hiking and exploring.

Balmaseda

Balmaseda has been one of the most important cities in the encartaciones region of Biscay due to its proximity to cantabria and castile. it boasts an attractive historic quarter and a “Puente Viejo” (old bridge) crossing the river Kadagua that dates back to 1199. On 5 November 1808, it was where the battle of Valmaseda took its place between the French and the spanish armies.

Day 1 Cape Town, Matjiesfontein Arrive at Cape Town station this morning and board the rovos rail Pride of africa Train for a royal edwardian safari. You may settle in to your suite before joining other guests in the midway lounge car or the Observation carriage at the rear of the train. Lunch is served as the train passes through Worcester on the way to the village of Matjiesfontein. reach the first of four tunnels which take us through the Hex river Pass. Disembark the train in Matjiesfontein later this afternoon where you have time to explore and stroll through this quaint and historic Victorian village. Head back to the train for dinner and overnight on board. Day 2 Kimberley After lunch, the train arrives in Kimberley, one of south Africa’s best-kept secrets. Disembark and proceed on a tour of the city. The site of the Big Hole was initially a small hill, but that soon disappeared as the diamond prospectors began digging there during the Gold rush period. Enjoy a ride through the city in a historic tram (time and weather permitting) before going back to the train. Ten minutes after departing Kimberley, there is a shallow lake on the left hand side facing forward, where on most occasions you will see spectacular flocks of flamingos. Dinner is served on board as the train passes through Bloemhof and Leeudoringstad en route to Klerksdorp.Day 3 Hoedspruit, Pretoria The train travel toward Pretoria, passing through Krugersdorp, Johannesburg and Germiston en route. Arrive at Centurion where a rovos locomotive transfers guests for the final leg of the journey to rovos rail station in Capital Park, Pretoria. Disembark for your Pretoria city tour and lunch. Pretoria, built up around Church square, originally the market place and focal point of the Boer community. Depart Capital Park station in Pretoria later this evening for Hoedspruit in Mpumalanga. Day 4 Zeerust, Madikwe Game reserve Please pack a small overnight bag for your two-night stay at a game lodge in the Madikwe Game reserve in the North West Province of south Africa near Gaborone, Botswana. Upon arrival at Zeerust, you will be transferred to the 5-star Tau Game lodge for a full-board two-night stay. The Blue Train arrives in Matjiesfontein this afternoon, where you are invited for a glass of sherry at the bar. The sherry glass, engraved with the Blue Train logo, is a memento for you to keep. While in this historical Victorian village complete with nineteenth-century lampposts and buildings, you may feel as if you have entered a time warp, an oasis suspended in a different age.

Make your way back to The Blue Train which departs for the northward journey to Pretoria later this afternoon and enjoy high tea, which is served in the Lounge Car. After your exciting off-train interlude, you are welcome to refresh yourself and enjoy pre-dinner drinks at any one of our lounges.
