WHO WE ARE

We are able to deliver participatory trainings for social change all around the globe

Capacity development has been a competence of and a strategic priori-ty for AADK for decades. Through Training4Change, our global training organisation, we have built professional standards in training management and delivery - annually delivering more than 600 different trainings.

Training4Change is running a network of training hubs consisting of:

Global Platforms - Youth Training HubsThe Global Platforms is a big global network of youth training hubs for empowerment and activism. The Global Platforms are specialized in participatory methods to empower young people to realise their potentials as positive social change makers.

Since 2009 we have established Global Platforms all over the globe. To ensure a better global outreach, we aim to establish new Global Platforms in Asia, the Arab Region, West Africa and South America before 2017.

TCDC - Training Centre for Development CooperationTraining Centre for Development Cooperation [TCDC] is our training centre for professional training located in Tanzania. TCDC has more than 40 years of experience in providing high quality trainings, consultancies and facilities for reflection and learning to civil society organisations and their partners.

TCDC is situated close to Arusha in Northern Tanzania. A mix of excellent facilities and a quiet and pleasant atmosphere makes TCDC an ideal place for learning and reflection.

WHAT OUR AIM IS

WHAT OUR OBJECTIVES ARE

Train the world.Change the world!

Training4Change will develop a global training programme that contrib-utes significantly to the capacity development of civil society organisations throughout the world.

Through our network of training hubs we aim at being a catalyst for social and political empowerment, by inspiring people to realise their ability to positively change their lives and those of the people in their communities.

We want to spread our trainings and ideas in ever-widening circles with the vision of: training the world to change the world!

Provide a dynamic and democratic space where global and local youth can meet, share visions and ideas on how to create a more fair and equal world.

Provide innovative, creative and quality based trainings where activists, professionals and social movements can be trained in youth leadership, campaigning, mobilizing and organizing, HRBA and new media etc.

Play a strategic role in providing foundational capacity building for the ActionAid Activista network.

Provide space where ActionAid and partners on various programs can be trained in thematic areas.

I gained relevant knowledge from TCDC trainings. I am using such knowledge to make impact in my community, country, and workplace. It was such a life changing experience. I will be very excited to participate in other trainings in the future. Great job TCDC!!!

The training offers a great opportunity to learn from what others are doing and also focuses on not just the content but the processes as well - which I appreciated so much.

HOW WE TRAIN

PARTICIPATORY TRAININGWe learn from each other!

POLITICAL EMPOWERMENTShare your vision and act on it!

LEARNING BY DOINGPractice what you learn - learn from your practice!

PUBLIC ACTION LEARNINGAct it out in public!

CREATIVITY AND SOCIAL IMAGINATIONBreak the norms - rethink social change!

RELEVANT AND APPLICABLEApply what you learned and add value!

We are specialised in participatory trainings

All our trainings are based on six key principles which we believe are the ingredients required for people to transform themselves into inspired change makers:

At school they give you knowledge that you have to learn by heart. At GP jordan we get skills and we learn through interaction and debating with other young people, we have to think and take decisions. It is another approach than I am used to - it made me think!

We were part of starting up the Pool of Trainers in Nepal. Pool of Trainers is a voluntary based network of former participants from the Global Platform trainings. We are a bunch of young, energetic and creative trainers who want to engage youth from Nepal.

Our first experience with Pool of Trainers was the: “National Youth Leader-ship Seminar” in spring 2013. We went to Nawalparasi, where youths from marginalised communities from seventeen different districts in Nepal participated.

The experience was really exciting but also a bit challenging. Challenging because we were unsure how they would react to the creative and partici-patory methods that we had learned at the Global Platform.

But at the end of the first day, everyone was so happy and applauded the methods we used. We ourselves learned a great deal about training methods and it was an amazing experience.

Through Pool of Trainers we are planning to engage more youth throughout Nepal.

Online activist skills #bitbybit

Global Change Lab is an online training hub for young global activists made by Global Platforms.

Training bits, skills and shares

On Global Change Lab you can take training bits and get skills in activism and social change - all in order to change the world.

Learn, act and share activism skills bit by bit

Each training bit is a 20 minute session where you get inspired and do actions on your learnings. To complete a training bit you have to share something you learned. Your shares inspire and make the next activist become even smarter.

If you do a selected set of training bits you get skill badges like Creative Activist or Online Campaigner on your profile.

Global Change Lab is free and accessible for everybody to use with their desktop, tablet or smartphone.

TRAINING4CHANGE COST RECOVERY MODEL

Special Capacity Development Support to ActionAid

Training4change supports the delivery of the ActionAid International skills framework such as Democratic Governance, Institutional Governance, HRBA, Campaign; Leadership etc. Therefore T4C has a special model of support for ActionAid.

For courses requested by ActionAid International, the cost of curriculum development will be paid by ActionAid International while the countries will pay for the course delivery. In cases where countries or units seek training support, they will have to pay the full cost of curriculum development and course delivery.

Requests for capacity development support (like co-facilitation, curriculum development and online course development) cost USD 85 per hour.

The course was very impresive and beyond my expectation and trainers are so nice. Good environment, internet, food make the centre an attractive place to be!

HOW WE WORK WITH TRAINING

From decision to delivery and evaluation

A corner stone in our work with designing high impact trainings is our training management manual: The 6 Step Pathway for Training Development.

By following the 6 steps in the pathway we ensure that our trainings reach the target group, align with our own and our partner’s strate-gic objectives and integrate our approach to training and pedagogical methods.

Furthermore by following the 6 Steps we ensure that the whole process of delivering training is thought through and prepared from the initial training request to the delivery to follow up and revision mechanisms including reporting.

Overall the 6 Steps Guide, the Training Developer and other stakeholders ensure that we develop high impact trainings.

Page 17: Training4Change training hubs

17

HOW WE EVALUATE

To improve and ensure that our trainings lead to impact

We are committed to deliver trainings that empower new social change makers and strengthen local NGO’s and CSO’s. We aim at having satisfied participants that learn - and moreover we want them to go back to their organisations and implement what they learned and in the end foster social change.

To secure that we always improve our trainings according to the needs of the organisations we support and to assess whether we actually foster the change we aim at - it is crucial to have established evaluation forms and methods.

T4C’s evaluation framework builds on Donald Kirkpatrick’s 4 levels of evaluation: 1. Reaction, 2. Learning, 3. Behaviour, 4. Results/ Impact. And the evaluation is organised through data collection, course evaluations and longer term impact.

AADKs evaluation framework

I don’t know where we would have been without Global Platform Nepal. With the Platform we have a space to debate and create. I feel we can realize our dreams here.

Moti Lama, National Activista Coordinator Nepal

ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL

Despite his young age Min Paing Moe is already a dedicated social change maker, a path he started when he joined Global Platform Myanmar in 2012 for a “Youth Participation in Governance” training. One of the steps in the training is to make an action plan and a set of personal goals to achieve.

Here is what he told us two years after the training:

The way the trainers motivated me was amazing, so I was completely focused on my action plan. And it has been way more than a useful tool, I have worked hard to reach every goal and I am on my way to succeed.

My main goal was to get a job as a teacher, so I could encourage, build and shape young people. Now I am a senor assistant teacher at a High School. So now I want to teach everybody about their rights and give them the tools to change society – tools I have from Global Platform Myanmar and others places.

As a citizen of Myanmar I have a huge responsibility. Building up Myanmar, is like building a house with a 1000, 10.000 or even 100.000 bricks. I want to be one of the bricks, so I can make sure we get a great house.
