Each section includes information, guidance and a range of learning material, which willequip the trainer to deliver a workshop on the topic to a group of carers OR to anindividual/couple in their own home.
Section 5 of the LTR pack contains everything SL Schemes need in order to support SL

COMMISSIONED TRAINING
From May 2011 the way in which training is commissioned has been changed. Trainingshould now be commissioned directly from Shared Lives Plus accredited trainers. Thiscan be by individual schemes, groups of schemes or by a Shared Lives Plus branch orcountry committees. An information sheet on what each trainer has on offer, including anyadditional specialist training they can deliver, can be found at the end of this brochure. Theterms under which our trainers operate are also attached together with the form which theywill use to commission training with you.
Shared Lives Plus staff are available for use as co-trainers and for some courses (wherecurrent contact with Shared Lives carers and/or workers across the UK is vital to thecourse being useful), it will be specified that a member of Shared Lives Plus staff shouldalways be used as a co-trainer. In this instance, Shared Lives Plus will charge the trainer afee of 400 per day per staff member, which will be charged by the trainer to thepurchaser.
Shared Lives Plus will continue to monitor the quality of the training and feedback formswill be provided to assist with this.
We are keen to increase our pool of trainers and would be interested in hearing fromanyone experienced trainers who would like to take on this role. We are particularlylooking to improve the geographical spread of trainers across the UK. Anyone interestedshould [email protected] or by phone on 07739819825

My training is based on recent experience gained in the capacity of Registered Manager for a
local authority Shared Lives Lives Service for seven years. Like many LA services we had to put
together a robust business case complimented by a bespoke Pricing Tool in order to secure our
future, the success of which was reflected by approval for an increase in staffing, and ultimately
recognition by commissioners and senior management regarding the value and importance ofshared lives. I established a strong Independent Panel with experience in managing a variety of
Carer related issues, facilitated training on CIS for the team in order to cascade this down to
Carers, started to approve Carers able to offer a service in the individual's own home to include
the Asian community, and received consistently excellent outcomes from CQC inspections.
I have an NVQ level 4 in management and experience of supporting SW students as anaccredited Practice Assessor.
Prior to working with Shared Lives I was a manager in the Probation Service for several yearsand so have significant experience in working with vulnerable adults, and in partnership with other
professionals. My style has been described as collaborative, conscientious, and committed, andI look forward to the opportunity of working with you.
I am able to deliver the following Shared Lives Plus training courses:
Developing a 'bespoke' Pricing Tool. CQC Essential Standards and evidencingcompliance.
Common Induction Standards - implementation. Panel Processes
Expanding your service e.g. Business Case,Licences, provision for Dementia, working with
minority ethnic groups and Kinship.
I also deliver these training courses, which are not part of the Shared Lives Plus trainingprogramme:
