CIEH LEVEL 2 AWARD IN MANUAL HANDLING- PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE1 DAY £75.00 PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE (ACCREDITED) OR HALF DAY £40.00 PRINCIPLESWho will benefit: This course is designed for those who carry out manual handling at work and provides essential information about manual handling control and hazards. Under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, employers are required to take appropriate steps, including training, to reduce the risk of injury to employees who carry out any manual handling activities at work, including both industrial and office workers.

The half-day programme is for delegates who seek to gain the CIEH Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling. The further half-day training session and assessment is for

delegates who need to learn practical manual handling techniques; and results in the full CIEH Level 2 Award. The CIEH Level 2 Award in Manual Handling- Principles and Practice combines both the theoretical and hands- on elements of the subject and teaches learners techniques to lift, carry, push and pull objects safely within their individual capabilities.

COURSE CONTENTThe course covers the risks associated with manual handling, as well as making recommendations to manage risks. Delegates will learn the value of risk assessment and how to apply the principles of safer handling to a range of everyday manual handling tasks.

CIEH LEVEL 2 AWARD IN FIRE SAFETY PRINCIPLES1 DAY £75.00Who will benefit: As required by The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO), this qualification will provide delegates with the knowledge to help them to carry out designated duties as a competent person. This may be as a fire warden or fire marshal and will relate to fire safety and emergency procedures in the workplace.

COURSE CONTENTThe course addresses fire hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace, as well as how fire risk is controlled in the workplace. The principles and practice of fire safety management at work and the role of the nominated fire warden are explored.

HEALTH AND SAFETYQUALIFICATIONSIOSH ACCREDITED ASBESTOS AWARENESS TRAINING1 DAY £90.00Every employer must make sure that anyone who is liable to disturb asbestos during their normal work, or who supervises those employees, gets the correct level of information, instruction and training so that they can work safely and competently without risk to themselves or others.

Information, instruction and training for asbestos awareness is intended to give workers and supervisors the information they need to avoid work that may disturb asbestos during any normal work which could disturb the fabric of a building, or other item which might contain asbestos.

This JTL course is IOSH accredited and successful candidates will be awarded an IOSH certificate.

ASSESSMENT SERVICESEAL L3 DIPLOMA IN ELECTROTECHNICAL SERVICES: EXPERIENCED WORKER ASSESSMENT ROUTE (ETS.3)COST: £1,000 (DISCOUNTED BY £500 TO £1,000 AS PART OF THE TESP PARTNERSHIP’S ‘CAREER PROGRESSION PROGRAMME’)This qualification is designed solely for those experienced persons who are/have been working in the electrotechnical industry as practicing electricians for a minimum of 5 years and who can demonstrate their existing technical knowledge, performance and competence to the industry standards at Level 3 and in line with the current edition of the IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671.

This qualification is not suitable for new entrants to the electrotechnical industry, apprentices, other operatives who require any training or those who completed an industry relevant technical certificate after 2008. Such persons are required to study and complete the training and assessment requirements of the relevant NVQ, e.g. EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, structures and the environment) QCF.

The only exception to this is where an assessor feels that an applicant may be required to achieve qualifications in the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) or inspection and testing

Before an applicant can be registered to the scheme, a thorough and documented initial assessment must take place to establish:

» Whether the existing qualifications and experience of the experienced worker are acceptable

» Whether the learner has any specific and permitted training needs (e.g. BS 7671 or inspection and testing).

» The level of support and guidance required when working towards the qualification

ASSESSMENT METHODS:In order to successfully complete this qualification, all learners must:

» Satisfactorily complete all of the underpinning knowledge questions for each unit.

» Demonstrate acceptable knowledge with respect to the current IET Wiring Regulations and inspection and testing.

» Be able to provide sufficient valid, current and authentic evidence from site of their previous work to demonstrate that they can fully meet the performance requirements within each unit of this qualification.

» Satisfactorily complete the industry independent assessment of competence; AM.2

LEARNERS WITH QUALIFICATIONS GAINED OUTSIDE THE UKCandidates with qualifications gained outside the UK will need to meet the exact same requirements as any candidate following this assessment route. All non UK qualifications must have been fully evaluated by UK Naric. However, UK Naric evaluations may only be used as evidence towards the knowledge requirements of this qualification.

Successful completion of the Experienced Worker Assessment Route will result in being awarded the JIB electricians card.

DURATION: This is dependent on the experience and evidence available and will be established at the initial assessment.

THE CAREER PROGRESSION PROGRAMMEThis service is currently available as part of the TESP Career Progression Programme, a subsidised route to enable experienced workers to achieve their ECS Gold Card and become a fully qualified electrician.For more details visit www.jtltraining.com/tesp

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONSPAT TESTING: C&G LEVEL 3 AWARD IN THE IN-SERVICE INSPECTION & TESTING OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT 2 DAYS*: £180 PER DELEGATEA qualification for anyone who intends to carry out the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (also known as PAT Testing). The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 state ‘as may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger’.

The course will train personnel that are responsible for the scheduling of PAT testing, as well as the practical application of portable appliance tests, which includes visual inspections and instrument tests. This course is based on the updated Code of Practice for the In-service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment (IET 4th Edition).

It would be expected that candidates attending the course should be familiar with electrical systems and hazards of electricity in order to satisfactorily complete this programme.

MANAGING PROJECTS IN THE ORGANISATION (4 CREDITS)The full project planning cycle: plan, communicate, conduct, monitor and evaluate a project in an organisation.

Introducing project management tools and techniques for carrying out a workplace project, with the opportunity to be involved in an Action Learning project group.

MAKING PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATIONS (2 CREDITS)After receiving delivery skill training from a professional acting coach, plan, deliver and evaluate a professional presentation. The theory aspect covers research and preparation, presenting an argument, using visual aids and responding to audience questions.
