TRAINING INSTITUTE :- DMRC has been entrusted by the Government of

India for implementation and subsequent operation of rail based metro rail system in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.

It has been a role model and trend setter for the metro’s coming up in India as well as developing countries.

DMRC has strong commitment to excellence in competency building in the field of rail based urban transportation systems. DMRC established its own Training Institute at Shastri Park Train depot in the year 2002 , to meet the requirement.

The Training Institute is ISO 9001:2008 accredited for design, development and delivery of training programmes.

It is equipped with state of art training infrastructure, most advanced simulators for training in the field of operations and maintenance.

It is the only institute in the country which is equipped with all modern facilities to impart customized training on almost all aspects of operations and maintenance of rail based urban transportation systems.

3.They have distinction of developing the staff capabilities and competence building of not only DMRC employees but also employees from other metro systems such as Bangaluru Metro, Chennai Metro, Jaipur Metro, Mumbai Metro, Rapid Metro and Kochi Metro.

4.The Training Institute provides holistic training in terms of knowledge, skill and attitude along with physical, mental and spiritual health of the trainees.

5.The Training Institute also provides consultancy services in the field of Human Resources Management, Operations and Training (Simulators, CBT, Designing Training Modules, Conduct of Training etc).

6.They are also considering training proposals from developing countries in the field of urban rail transportation.

• They organize regular Executive Development Programs in training institute for the executives of DMRC at the time of their joining and promotions.

• The objective of this training course is to enhance the technical knowledge/applications, managerial ability, and sharpen the Soft Skills profile of the trainees.

• During EDP, the trainees are exposed to effective Management practices, leadership styles, time management, importance of ethics and values, team building, finance management, transport economics, HR practices, departmental rules and regulations, field visits etc.

• The method of training include class rooms, exercises, management games, use of simulators and field visit. The purpose of EDP to prepare executives for taking up higher responsibilities in the management

• DMRC Training Institute conducts Management Development Programme on rail based urban transportation.

• The objectives of this programme among other things include understanding the need of rail based MRTS in urban transportation and to enhance the knowledge with regards to planning, network design, PPP, and other operational fundamentals of MRTS.

• The programme has been designed for operators and regulators and managers in urban transport sector who aspire to know about urban transportation.

Class Rooms 

The Institute has 24 class rooms with a capacity of 864 trainees at a time.

All the class rooms are air conditioned to facilitate learning environment best suited for class room training. All the class rooms are well equipped with modern teaching aids i.e. projector, dedicated computer system, LAN, marker boards/interactive boards etc.

The class rooms are equipped with smart card based attendance system.

1.) Trouble Shooting and Maintenance Simulators- DMRC has state of the art training facilities for training of maintenance staff in the trouble shooting and maintenance of Metro Trains.  DMRC has setup eight independent simulators for the maintenance training for different sub-systems of train such as the Brakes, Air Supply, Door System, Auxiliary System, Traction System, Train Air-Conditioning and Train Control Management System (TCMS).

2.) Driving Simulators- Simulators for train drivers are now the most widely used training equipment used globally. They permit training in real-life environment and are able to simulate most unusual occurrences. Training of new drivers can be done in a safe environment without any damage to the vehicle or fear of an accident. A simulator would also save substantial amount of money especially if the cost of track occupancy is considered. The simulator is also used by experienced drivers to practice skills and refine their techniques

Computer-Based Training (CBT) is an interactive method of e-learning that provides a series of self-paced, hands-on courses.

DMRC Training institute facilitates the trainees with two CBT Labs, well equipped to accommodate 42 trainees. 

DMRC Computer-Based Training (CBT) includes:Knowledge based modules (supported with animation, video, sound and photo).Free Exploration (Virtual Train Navigation in 3-D environment to understand the location and functions of different equipments in train).Procedure based modules (Supported for decision making in right direction) .Situation Based Exercises (To perform actual actions in full simulated environment).3-D remedial actions (To understand the assembly and disassembly of equipments).

DMRC Training Institute have total 60 hours CBT package on different Rolling Stocks (ROTEM and Bombardier), Signaling Systems (ALSTOM, Siemens & Bombardier), Station Management, Operation Procedures, Safety & Disaster Management. In addition to this DMRC Training Institute also have specialized 30 hours CBT package for Rolling Stock maintenance staff.CBT is also used to evaluate the performance of trainees through learning management system.

The Institute has 2 well equipped computer labs having sitting capacity of more then hundred trainees.

Computer lab is open for trainees from 9 AM to 10 PM.

A library is an important part of any training set up. It is a source of knowledge to the trainees. It develops the habit of reading amongst the trainees.

For intellectual development, the Institute has a dedicated library headed by a qualified and experienced librarian.

At Present, there are more than 4000 books related to Computer Science and IT, Engineering, Litrature, Management and other subjects.And more than 1000 journals and manuals, CDs available   in the library with 1800 library members.

Training Management System (TMS) is used for managing various operations of training and attendance effectively. For organizing different trainings on TMS and for maintaining daily attendance and day to day activities electronically, different modules like Data management, Knowledge Corner, User Management, Finance Management, Examination Management, Attendance Management, Training Management, Role Management, asset Management and Support Centre  has been designed in the software. With this software the authentic values of different modules can be obtained at a glance like users, trainings, results, assets, attendance, costs, feedback etc.
