What is training?
According to Edwin B Flippo, “ Training is the act of
increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for
doing a particular job.
Importance of training
It is important in the present day.
It gives benefits both for employees and for the workers.
It improves the skills and efficiency.
Trained personnel are valuable assets for the organization.
Training imparts greater job security and an opportunity for
advancement of employees.
Why training for Employees?
1. Quick learning
Training helps to reduce the learning time.
Employees need not learn by observing others and need not
waste time if formal training exists in the organization.
2. Higher Productivity
It increases the skill of new employees.
Increase in skill increases both quality and quantity of output.
3. Standardization of procedures
With training the best available method of performing the
work can be standardized and taught to all employees
Standardization makes high levels of performance.
4. Less Supervision
The need of detailed supervision reduces.
Supervision need not be constant if employees are well
trained.
5. Economical Operations
Trained personnel will be able to make better use of material
and equipment's.
Wastage will also be low.
6. Higher morale
Good training program will mould employee’s attitude.
It generates better cooperation and greater loyalty.

Training helps in spotting the promising men and
preparing them for promotion.

Training the employees can assist the manager to improve his
planning, organizing directing and controlling over them.

work place.

asset of a worker.
3. Promotion: Provides opportunity for quick promotion and self
development.
4.Higher Earnings: Helps in earning higher monetary benefits as the workers
productivity increases.
5. Adaptability: They wont worry when work procedures and methods are
changed.
6. Increased Safety: Trained workers handle the machines safely. They also knew
the use of various safety devices in the factory. Thus they are less prone to
accidents.

Training is essential to the achievements of a business.
Perhaps its most positive benefit is better employees. A
company develop the potential of an employee, and part of the
way it encourages improvement through training.
