The bench-top system has a spacious modulardesign featuring versatility, operational simplicity, and robustness. Studies can be conducted with application specific kits.The kits typically include shaft/coupling misalignment, balance, bearings (rolling element and sleeve), cocked/eccentric rotor,bent shaft, resonance, mechanical rub, belt, gearing, reciprocating mechanism and centrifugal pump. In addition, kits supportinduction motor faults such as misaligned rotor, bowed rotor, broken rotor bars, etc.

This is a uniqueintegrated hardware/software system developed especially for instruc-tion in machinery diagnostics using the SpectraQuest Machinery FaultSimulator (MFS). It incorporates three modules:• Multi-channel DAQ: Very high resolution, high speed, simulta-

neous sampling, 8/16/24 channels. All of the DAQ software andhardware are integrated into a Dell PC.

• Educational software: Interactive dynamic system model for learn-ing vibration concepts, effects of damping/stiffness/mass on reso-nance, digital signal processing issues such as leakage, aliasing,windowing, noise reduction, averaging, etc., and model representa-tion of machine components.
