The family operated a brewery on the property, as well as a grist mill and several saw mills that brought people from across the county to the Scanlon farm. Scanlon Farmhouse 6 This section of the Evergreen Loop is constructed of boardwalks and floating bridges, providing access to the edge of the wetland and Scanlon Creek. Keep your eyes open for wildlife such as geese, ducks, herons and beavers. Use the entrance off County Rd. 4/ Yonge St. for access. Inspired by nature, this play area stimulates imagination and encourages children to explore and interact with their surroundings. With over an acre to discover, children can climb on the big rock, play musical instruments, use the log fort, enjoy the hill slide plus more. See and learn about native tree species and their unique qualities at the Arboretum. Can you pick out the tall Tulip trees? They can grow to 35 metres! 7 These millstones were once part of a grist mill built by the Scanlon family in the 1820’s. It was the first of its kind in Simcoe County and farmers would come from all over to grind their wheat and other grains.
