    Rediscover the outdoors and your sense o exploration

    while learning eective, meaningul ways to lead your

    students to their own discoveries o nature, physical chal-

    lenges, and the distinctiveness o their own communities.

    e signifcance o the Appalachian Trail is not its length, but its story

    o civic engagement in preserving a recreational, natural, cultural,

    spiritual, and now, educational, resource or challenges and dreams.

    rough this cumulative series o workshops, you will create your own

    experiential learning curriculum based on state educational standards

    that integrates hands-on study o Appalachian Trail resources in

    your community and the opportunity or teacher and student networks

    rom Georgia to Maine.

    It is our desire to bring the environment and the community into

    the core o the curriculum. For too long, we eel, environmental education

    had been like art, a tassel on the edge o the school abric, not the warp.

    Our Objective is to make ecological literacy a serious part o the

    school philosophy. rough grounding the curriculum in local places,we make learning more meaningul and we increase student

    achievement e best curriculum serves as a bridge between

    the inner and outer worlds, between play and work, between dreams and

    reality. e best education system will shape adults who both

    love the earth and are smart and competent.

    e Trail to Every Classroom (TTEC) program is oered ree o chargeincluding all lodging, meals, and materials.

    Presenters include national experts in Place-Based Education, Service-Learning and Curriculum Development.

    You are expected to develop curriculum with an Appalachian Trail ocus.

    Five graduate credits are optional and oered or a ee o $250.00through Lebanon Valley College. Credits awarded December 2010.
