What is Traffic Impact Study?
Project Description :• Al-Irsal Center is Arduna's first project in Ramallah
and Al-Bireh• The project will assist in enhancing the economic and
social life in Ramallah, Al-Bireh and most of the central region of the West Bank
Project Description :
• Al-Irsal Center is strategically located on Al-Irsal Hill-top, an elevated area on a major Al-Bireh-Ramallah route.
• Al-Irsal Center is located 2km to the North of the downtown of Ramallah-Al-Bireh occupying an area of 51,000 m2 with a total floor space of approximately 200,000 m2

Project Description :
• Office and business facilities• Commercial activities• Residential• Hotel
Project Components:
Study Area:• The site lies close to the National Park, and near to
President Yasser Arafat’s tomb, Plaza Mall, and Ministry of Interior
Aim and Objectives• The aim of our study is to find the traffic impact of
this project on the system of roads around it
• Evaluate current traffic operations• Estimate the traffic to be developed by Al-Irsal Center
when it will be completely built• Examine how this project will affect the nearby roads• Solutions will be suggested to find the best alternative
solution, which can solve the problems
Objectives:
Methodology• Intersection Counting
Methodology• Field inventory studies
Methodology• Volume studies:
– The peak hour volume (PHV)
– The expansion factors
• Traffic impact study (TIS)
– Trip generation
Methodology• Level of service (LOS):
– A Free flow– B Reasonably free flow
A/B
Methodology• Level of service (LOS):
– C Stable flow– D Approaching unstable flow
C/D
Methodology• Level of service (LOS):
– E Unstable flow– F Forced or breakdown flow
E/F
Methodology
Level of service Average control delay(sec/veh.)
A ≤10 sec
B 10-20 sec
C 20-35 sec
D 35-55 sec
E 55-80 sec
F ≥80 sec
• Level of service (LOS):– Level of service criteria for signalized & unsignalized
intersections
Methodology• Level of service (LOS):
– The range of level of service for roundabouts
