Is. 52:13 See, my servant shall prosper; he shall be exalted and lifted up,

and shall be very high. Is. 52:14 Just as there were many who were astonished at him

—so marred was his appearance, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond

that of mortals— Is. 52:15 so he shall startle many nations;

kings shall shut their mouths because of him; for that which had not been told them they shall

see, and that which they had not heard they shall

contemplate. Is. 53:1 Who has believed what we have heard?

Servant Song 1: Isaiah 42:1-4

Is. 42:1 ¶ Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him;

he will bring forth justice to the nations. Is. 42:2 He will not cry or lift up his voice,

or make it heard in the street; Is. 42:3 a bruised reed he will not break,

and a dimly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice.

Is. 42:4 He will not grow faint or be crushed until he has established justice in the earth;

and the coastlands wait for his teaching.

The LORD called me before I was born, while I was in my mother’s womb he named

me. Is. 49:2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword,

in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow,

in his quiver he hid me away. Is. 49:3 And he said to me, “You are my servant,

Israel, in whom I will be glorified.” Is. 49:4 But I said, “I have labored in vain,

I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity;

yet surely my cause is with the LORD, and my reward with my God.”
