6. Carefully slide piston and rod assembly into position in inner tube, No. 12.

7. Place clevis end of cylinder on a fixed pin on bench and install cap, No.7, into cyl­inder barrel and tighten securely.

NOTE: Ensure that inner tube seals properly against the end oj the cyl­inder barrel and the cap.

8. Install star washer, No.4, and ball end, No.3, into its place in the end .of the piston and rod assembly and tighten securely.

Installation

Refer to Fig. 25.

1. Position cylinder in place and secure with lock nuts. Tighten to 90 ft.-lbs. torque.

2. Remove plugs from lines and cylinder ports and install lines into their respective ports in cylinder.

NOTE: Ensure that there is a suf­ficient clearance between the lines, the alternator pulley and the fan.

3. Start tractor engine and operate steering wheel to its extreme travel in both directions. Shut off engine.

4. Refer to the appropriate heading (Gas­oline or Diesel Model) under "Filling the Res­ervoir" and fill the reservoir as instructed.

The front axle assembly installed on the MF 2200 Tractor utilizes one tie rod assembly and two steering cylinders. The tie rod connects to both axle spindle arms. The head end of the cylinders is attached to studs near the center

Engine overhaul procedures and specifications for the Z-134 gasoline engine may be obtained by referring to Group I, Section B. Overhaul procedures and specifica­tions for the AD3.152 Perkins Diesel may be obtained by referring to Group 0, Sec­tion L.

ENGINE REMOVAL

Engine removal procedures recommended for tractors having a loader installed are slightly different than the procedures recommended when a loader is not installed. Engine removal _ (disconnect) from the transmission will depend upon whether the engine is a gasoline or diesel model. It will also depend upon whether the transmission is a Manual Shuttle, 6-Speed Standard or Instant Reverse.

If a loader is not installed on the tractor, re­moving the engine involves "splitting" the front axle support from the engine and rolling it forward (out of the way). The engine is then disconnected and separated from the trans­mission case.

If a loader is installed on the tractor, either of the two following methods may be used to re­move the engine:

If desired, and suitable equipment is avail­able, the loader may be hoisted above the -tractor and secured in this position. Blocks

are then used under the loader side frames to maintain their position. The side frames are then unbolted from the front end of the tractor. When using this method, it will be necessary to disconnect the hydraulic lines to the loader pump. The front axle support assembly is then disconnected from the engine and rolled for­ward (out of the way). The engine may then be disconnected from the _ transmission case and rolled forward from the tractor. If this method is used, it is unnecessary to remove a backhoe or weight box from the tractor.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND TROUBLE-SHOOTING

INTRODUCTION

This section of the Manual is concerned with servicing of the Perkins AG3.152 Gas­oline Engine as shown in F~gs. 1 and 2. All of the procedures and service information assume the engine has been removed from the machine and pertain only to the basic engine its elf •

The information given is specific to this engine and should be used in conjunction with normal workshop practices. Where the removal, disassembly and installation of a part is obvious, the procedure has been omitted from the text. Similarly, references to cleaning of parts, inspection and the use

of new gaskets have largely been omitted, BUT IT MUST BE CLEARLY UNDERSTOOD THAT THESE ROUTINE PRACTICES MUST BE PERFORMED.

Where reference to right and left-hand sides of the engine are mentioned within the text, this refers to the engine as viewed from the rear of the flywheel. DIRECTION OF ENGINE ROTATION IS VIEWED FROM THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY END OF THE ENGINE.

THOROUGHLY CLEAN THE ENGINE BEFORE DISASSEMBLING. MAKE SURE TO COVER ALL FUEL OPENINGS AS SOON AS THEY ARE EXPOSED TO PREVENT DIRT FROM ENTERING THE CARBURETOR.

This Part contains information for removal, installation and adjustments of the clutches used in the MF 2200 Tractor. To obtain procedures for disassembly, in­spection, reassembly and trouble-shooting of a clutch in question, refer to the Divi- . der Tab "Clutches" within this Group. (Torque converter information pertaining to the MF 2200 may be obtained by referring to Part 6 within this Section.)

Either an "Eleven-Inch Single Clutch" or a "Dual Clutch" may be installed 01). the tractor. (The . "Dual Clutch" is used when a "Live PTO" is installed on the tractor.)

Prior to removing the clutch from the engine flywheel, the tractor must be "split" between the engine and the transmission case. (Refer to Part 6 within this Section for procedures. )

NINE (9") INCH SINGLE AND "SPLIT TORQUE" TYPE CLUTCHES

The nine inch single clutch and the "split torque" type clutch are similar ·assem­blies and may be disassembled, inspected and reassembled through the same basic procedures. However, it is not meant to be inferred that these two clutch assemblies are the same. They are not. The major difference between these clutches are the clutch cover assemblies. (The release lever springs are also different.) The 9" single clutch has an open center in the clutch cover; whereas, the "split torque" type clutch has a splined center hub which is riveted to the cover. The "split torque" type· clutch is used with a flywheel filler block so that this clutch may be used in place of the dual clutch. (The flywheel filler bolts to the engine flywheel and takes the place
