Allergen management in food companies is becoming increasingly important. Health risks due to contaminated food must be detected and prevented in time. The HACCP concept (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) requires checking harmful residues in food. It is possible to carry out residue and hygiene controls by means of immunochemical tests. R-Biopharm offers lateral flow allergen tests in its product range for R-Biopharm allergen management systems. With these rapid tests it is possible to detect food allergens rapidly and reliably even while the production pro-cess is underway as per your HACCP plan. Cross contamination is detectable and

preventable. Allergen free products and safer food can be checked by using these tests to protect sensitive consumers from adverse reactions. The sensitivity of the specific lateral flow tests is comparable to that of commercial ELISAs (Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay) for the matrices under investigation. Lateral flow allergen tests contain specific antibodies which are conjugated to tracers and which are delivered in a dried and stable format. After activation and run of the specific antigen antibody reaction colored lines appear on the test strip.

Sample preparation

The swab sample or food extract is pipetted into the reaction vial which contains specific antibody ready to use. If the antigen is included in the sample the antigen antibody complex is formed.

The complex is detected on the test strip. The existence of 1 line indicates a valid negative result. The existence of 2 lines indicates a valid positive result.

Test procedure

Total assay time: 10 minutes

Allergen Detection / Test Kits

All reagents are provided with the kit, offer superior stability and storage atroom temperature

Add 0.2 ml or 7 dropsRunning Buffer into a Reaction Vial

Add 0.1 ml or 2 drops (with pasteur pipette) prepared sample into the Reaction Vial*Incubate for 5 min

Insert an Allergen Test Strip into the Reaction Vial

Read the result after 5 min

1 line indicates a valid negative result2 lines indicate a valid positive result

Sampling time: less than 2 min

Sample preparation Swab-Test (Kit)

Add 1 ml distilled water into a Sample Vial

Add 0.1 ml or 3 drops Buffer Concentrate

Insert a Swab into the Sample Vial and moisten it

Swab the area of interest

Insert the Swab into the Sample Vial again, mix and press to the side of the vial to release the material from the Swab
