Abstract:

The Global Positioning System is usually called as GPS. The NAVSTAR GPS

(Navigation Signal Timing and Ranging Global Positioning System) is a collection of Satellites,

which monitors the Longitude and Longitudes of a particular position. A typical GPS receiver

calculates its position using the signals from four or more GPS satellites. Four satellites are

needed since the process needs a very accurate local time, more accurate than any normal clock

can provide, so the receiver internally solves for time as well as position.GPS receivers collect

signals from satellites in view. They display the user's position, velocity, and time, as needed for

their marine, terrestrial, or aeronautical applications. Some display additional data, such as

distance and bearing to selected waypoints or digital charts.

One of the most important communications in the world is a satellite communication.

That receives the data globally from the satellite with the perfect position. The GPS module is

manufactured for grasping the positions of longitudinal, latitudinal positions time, date and

number of satellites using satellite communication. This module is interfaced to the micro

controller through a max232 which is a voltage level converter between GPS module to the

micro controller. When a message was received from the GPS then the micro controller will

display that message on LCD and as well as PC.

The applications for this project are in military, Navigation, Automobiles, Aircrafts fleet

management, remote vending, remote monitoring, remote control, security systems, tele-

services, etc.
