Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Sector-5, Rohini, and New Delhi organized MDPProgramme on Total Quality Management-for

small business enterprise at JIMS Campus, onSaturday 05 th May, 2012. The welcome addresswas given by Dr. J.K Goyal, Director, JIMS. Heintroduced JIMS as one of the prestigiousbrands in the education sector to all the

participants coming from diverse sectors.Further, the Head of MDP cell Mr. C. George,introduced the program and the key resourcepersons. The resource persons of the sessionwere Mr Lalit Kumar Mehta (Director Bureau

of Indian Standards), Mr Sandeep Gupta(Associate Professor) JIMS & Mr. Sanjive Saxena(Associate Professor) JIMS.

The programme concentrated on the aspect of Total Quality Management, its importance

and its present day need and the issues andthe challenges faced by the businessorganizations. Business groups and themembers from the industry including the COO,Vice President and Head of Department,

Manager and Supervisors, QA Practioners andEntrepreneurs were the people who attendedthe programme. The participants from all themajor sectors were present to name some wereAfcon International Pvt Ltd, AIPIA( All India

The topics covered of the programme were:

Concept of Quality and Total Quality

Management. Importance of TQM in the current business

and Juran etc.). Improvement tools & methodologies. The implementation Process; Issues &

challenges External Audits & the certification process Dealing with the challenges of Post

Certification Scenario Role to certification agencies. Incentives for Small Business Units. Case Study Recap and key learning

Feed backThe programme was designed to meet thecustomers Quality expectations. Quality is thekey driver for any organization. They demand

not only better products but the best of theservice as well. Thus Quality is Service.Satisfaction of customers with the product isthe paramount aspect of Quality. ThroughQuality control and Quality Circles which actslike tools in the Quality Management abusiness can survive: henceforth the questionarises of promising and delivering the best of

the Quality. Constant Marketing &Advertising of the product can lead to anincrease in demand but not the Quality. Aproduct advertises on its own on the basis of aSupreme Quality.

The programmes was divided into threetechnical sessions and the resource persons MrLalit Mehta in the first technical sessionelaborated upon the key concept of Quality,the historical perspective of Quality Controland its importance with the help of aInformational presentation. Mr SandeepGupta in the second session explained theQuality Concept with the help of analyticalactive games like Color traits Identification &

connected the concept of Quality of thought.The Post Lunch session was conducted by Mr.Sanjive Saxena who propounded the Qualityprocess with the help of a learningpresentation.

The Vote Of Thanks was given by Mr C. Georgeand the presentation of certificates to the

participants was done by Dr J.K Goyal DirectorJIMS wherein he congratulated all theparticipants. With all the efforts of the MDPCell including Mr C. George, Mr SandeepGupta & Mr Sanjive Saxena the programme

got an overwhelming response from theparticipants and our faculty members. Theprogramme opened an avenue of crosscultural interactions where the managerscoming from diverse sectors interacted under

one roof.Overall the session was a fruitfull and aLearning experience for all the faculty
